Quick Intro...
Thanks for 150 ratings oh my !! Appreciate the favs and feedback guys :D

Hello there ! :)

This guide is just a collection of screenshots from the DBD wiki put into the form of a steam guide so that you all have access to this info mid game by pressing shift+tab :)

If you're relatively new to the game, you can ignore all references to the old ranking system since you're most likely unfamiliar with it - this guide is mainly for those who are used to the old ranking system, but I've elaborated on most things to make it accessible and helpful for new players as well :)

Hope this helps and remember to have fun ;)

Grading Up
How many pips you need in order to progress through the new Grading System By Grade

(screenshot from the Dead By Daylight Wiki)

An important note:

With the new system, you can no longer derank - Only depip.

If you're more so new to the game and don't quite understand pips, here is an explanation:

Depending on your performance in the trial, a certain number of 'pips' can be either added or removed from your Grade progress.

You may:

  • Lose one pip (-1)

  • 'Safety Pip' (0) - (This means you neither lose nor gain any pips)

  • Gain one pip (+1)

  • 'Double Pip' (+2) - (This means you did a flippin good job)

For quick reference, here is the screenshot again:

In reference to the table, Grade Ash IV to Ash III requires 3 of these pips. This means you need 3 pips to move from Grade Ash IV to Ash III and another 3 to progress to Ash II.

From there, you require 4 pips per Grade each. So from Ash II you need 4 pips in order to progress to Ash I, and then another 4 pips to move to Bronze IV and so on until Silver IV which then requires 5 pips to progress to the next Grade.

As the table shows, the further you progress into the Grading System, the more pips you will need per Grade.

Here's a visual example:

At Silver II you will need five pips in order to move to the next Grade. The pips look like little white diamonds and currently I have one pip out of the five.

You can see how many pips you have by hovering over your Grade at the 'Campfire' (this refers to the main lobby where you ready up and wait for games).

Grade Reset
An important note:

With the new system, you can no longer derank - Only depip.

Depending on how far you've progressed through the Grading System, you will be rewarded a certain amount of Bloodpoints when the Grades reset.

Grade Reset happens on the 13th of every month, moving all players back down to Ash VI.

With the new system, once you reach (Red I) Iridescent I, you can no longer progress through the system. You will be rewarded the maximum amount of Bloodpoints at the end of that month (on the 13th, when the Grades reset).

UPDATED :)

Monthly Bloodpoint Rewards Based on Grade:

Matchmaking
I hope this helps you get a slightly better understanding of how the new system works and if you feel I've missed anything please let me know :):

-----

Now here's why you may be up against Iridescent Grade I & II survivors as an Ash II (or vice versa)

The new system does not match you based on your Grade.

Your grade is reeeally just an indicator of how frequently you've played during the season now, and debatably represents your ability to 'win' trials (which is quite the topic among DBD players as 'winning' via escaping the trial doesn't always equate to skill but for some reason contributes wonderfully to your MMR despite context - hiding in a bush seems to be a great way to match higher, whilst indirectly killing your friends and also earning little to no bloodpoints..... please don't do this..... anyways)

Each player has a hidden MMR number that is determined based on your 'performance' in trials.

This means, in theory, that you should be going up against players who are more accurately matched to you. This is an attempt to negate issues concerning skill gaps within Grades. There is plenty of diversity within each Grade, with many new players and many skilled players often being matched together due to this. The new system aims to minimise the amount of cross-over here.

This match-making system may not be the most accurate, especially at first. Try your best in each game, but remember to have fun, and let the match-making system try and figure out what to do - that's all you can do after all :)

Something to note:

This system does not take into account perks, items or add-ons yet which is a somewhat of a concern as it may lead to further competitive rounds, and far less casual and fun experiences as some players may use them more often in order to climb the system.

But this is just a thought and something to consider - please play with the builds you enjoy and your MMR will change accordingly :)

(If you'd like to read a little more about this, I left a response to a comment below which explains why I bothered to mention this a bit more :)

Hope this helped ! If it did, please leave a like and comment ! :)
Just quickly, thank you for all your comments !

I really appreciate the feedback and hearing your views on the system.

and I'm so glad to have been able to help some of you out a little ! :D

Feel free to vent in the comments btw ! I won't take it personally ;)

If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and I'll update the guide after some researching :)

@TTV.Alexiel it's a heavily flawed game for sure - here's hoping they factor in actually accurate determinants into the future to improve the experience for all players

devs confirmed that mmr has 0 thought into it, if you escape, it goes up, if you die, it goes down, very simple, you could do absolutely nothing but hide all match and your mmr will still go up if you escape, likewise you can do 4 gens, run the killer for 10 minutes, rescue and heal everyone, and you will still lose mmr if you die. so yeah, fucks over everyone trying to play for fun since if you win even once, you get paired with people who have like 5k hours

You can't even loose rank anymore depips no longer exsist, and ontop of that rank/grade means jack squat in DBD now that SBMM has been released and SBMM NEVER resets like rank/grade, it's a glorified system that tells you how much BP you'll earn at the end of the month and maybe how frequent someone plays the game (BARELY) that is it. Also your MMR isn't really hidden, it basically judges two things in game. How long you play in a match and if you escaped (Survivor) Or if you get kills (Killer). That is it, Saving hooks? Doesn't matter. Finishing Gens? Doesn't matter. Flashlight saves? Doesn't matter. Same goes for a killer protecting generators and so fourth. This unfortunately is the state of DBD and if you paid attention to the latest DBD stream Q&A you heard it from the clowns that are in charge of DBD "There's too much neuance to be able to make a real effective system" For those that do not understand what he was talking about. He was talking about SBMM :winter2019neutraldog:
