Attributes

Guide:

  • Strength | A straightforward Attribute favoured by new players and collectors.
  • Precision | An underpowered Attribute, Skill points under this Attribute should be manually assigned. Long explanation: Pistol Ammo is shared with Automatics. (E.g. The strongest pistol - Death Adder - Scoped and the Automatic SMG - UMP45 - Military, both deal 17 DMG and share the .45 Cal.) Ammo for Special Weapons are too rare to even be used infrequently during horde attacks.
  • Intellect | A complex Attribute favoured by experienced players, 3/4 Skills are relevant to this guide so be sure to max out this Attribute.
  • Endurance | Getting hit or going hungry (Survivor) is inevitable so set aside points for this Attribute!
  • Luck | Effects unknown but generally agreed by all to be an overpowered Attribute. A must-have for veterans looking for Katana - Sharpened, A47 - Military/Spec Ops, SV-SMG - Military/Spec Ops, Army Boot etc.

General Tip: Whichever Attribute you decide to spec into, ensure your preferred Attribute is an even number. This is because skill points under that Attribute category are given a bonus point every alternate point. Note: Bonus points only apply during character creation!

Skills

Guide:

  • Long Guns | Although some Long Guns share ammo with automatics, Long Guns in general have twice the accuracy and damage which lets players conserve more ammunition during the endless horde attack.
  • Smarts | Smarts gives one bonus point from reading at Skill Level 35, 67 and 100 for a total of 7 Skill points per Book. Do not max out Smarts for the reading bonus while leveling as 3 Businessman [Book] (+Smarts) are guaranteed drops in specific containers. Smarts also grant more XP when looting containers and killing zombies, thus, making it a must-have Skill during the endless horde attack.
  • Security | 50 is the highest possible level for a lock and 4 Nightwatchmen [Book] (+Security) are guaranteed drops in specific containers. Only Security Level 35 is needed (using keys) if you are not looking to unlock (pun intended) all lock picking Achievements. A Security Level above 50 is recommended for those looking to unlock the Open Damn It! (Force 3 locks successfully) Achievement.
  • Searching | Similar to Luck, its effect on loot drop percentages are unknown; but... based on the feels I get from when I played this game as a kid till now... the boost to rare item drops feels pretty good.
The Survival Kit - Premium Content

The Survival Kit is an add-on package that was available to all since 2016. Unfortunately in TLSLC there is no a way to disable this add-on (e.g. by playing with a guest account). This section is about content in The Survival Kit that is relevant to this guide.

Guide:

Flying Zee | Initally, the Flying Zee only loses to the Crowbar - Heavy which can only be found as a lucky drop/loot. This changes upon reaching Brookvale where the player can complete the "Something Spikey" quest for the Nail Board - Heavy. The Nail Board - Heavy is a straight upgrade with better Damage and Knockback.

Sickle | Anyone whose played with the Survival Kit remembers the Sickle. It was a free, instant access, better version of the Hatchet - Sharpened (purchasable at King-o-Pawn for $300+). In TLSLC, however, the Sickle can only be obtained by accessing the Storage in Whistler's Forest, ironically, a Sledge (with better Damage and superior Knockback) can be found in the next building.

The Thudder | It is a shotgun categorised under Long Gun with a Noise value of 0 (as silent as a melee weapon). Apart from its look and its Noise value, it is similar to the Shotgun. The Thudder is not a very strong weapon as the Shotgun can be found in Canal Park (Danger Level 7).

General Tip:

Military Backpack | Multiplies carrying capacity by 2. BY 2.

*Strength player walks into supermarket*
*Strength player T-poses and walks down the aisle*
No booty was left untouched

2011 Collector player: "That greedy **** Con Artist. The only thing he'll be conning is a cent."
*Swipes x1 payment of $0.01*

New player: "What is a lbs?"
*Unlocks One Man's Trash immediately*

Finals Preparation

Ensure you have the following before entering Union Island:

  • ~90 Long Guns & at least 100 Smarts
  • M24 Rifle - Scoped
  • At least 4 000, 7.62 mm rounds

Basic Gear & Attributes

Leave your Long Guns Attribute at ~90 for future Book drops. A M24 - Scoped can be found in the gun cage containing 3 C4 Blocks needed for the "Explosive Components" Storyline Quest. At ~90 points, the M24 - Scoped comfortably meets breakpoints while hitting and piercing multiple enemies. In my case, I have the Military variation of the M24 which I will be using instead.

A melee weapon is not needed.

Stocking up ammo

100 Smarts is needed to get the best deal at King-o-Pawn. In the example above, a single missing point in Smarts costs me an extra $7 per purchase of 7.62 mm rounds.

Spend all your cash purchasing 7.62 mm rounds at the Uptown King-o-Pawn and all preparations are complete!
The Farm & Rewards

"Welcome to the beginning"

An endless horde event begins not long after you arrive at Union Island.

Race to the end of Union Island where Dana (red headband, black outfit) and Jack awaits.

Get behind Dana (who is invincible) and let the slaughter begin.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT DIE, REACH THE BOAT OR EXIT THE GAME AT ANY POINT DURING THE ENDLESS HORDE EVENT. IF YOU DO, THE EVENT WILL PERMANENTLY END.

Rewards

The grind should end with a dozen or more rare items with you being at least Level 25. This is easily achievable as the images shown above were taken from a run with points invested into Automatics & Survival instead of Long Guns & Searching.

And that is all. Thanks for reading, feedback and all please!

Luck and Long Gun. I don't put much thought in levelling tbh. The game is way too short for it to be impactful.

I think it actually felt shorter than it was when I played it first time in ArmorGames like 10 years ago.

What's your favourite stat?

Only here for the general levelling guide.

Well, there is no other way to farm in this game. The other way is to load maps/sleep to spawn backpack zombies.
Tetsuri Sep 29, 2024 @ 10:24am
lol, cute guide, but only getting to farm at the end of the game kind of defeats the purpose.

Hmm alright.
SynistrMotiv Aug 16, 2024 @ 6:13pm
Granted. My point is purely that the Special Weapons skill has no books to level it up.
Meaning that if you love the grind, and want to keep playing the game long after you win: Leveling up Special Weapons specifically, will result in all skills being high over time.

Start zone Hatchet (Sharpened) or Sickle will do. M24 is an end-game weapon, it doesn't drop early game.
SynistrMotiv Aug 10, 2024 @ 5:31pm
Yes the bow, well, both bows are weaker, but, it is a different ammo also. Having a diversified arsenal means you can save the valuable ammo for the tougher mobs. If you are just grinding in the start zone, M24 is wildly overkill.
Lil' Sparkles Jr.  [author] Jul 11, 2024 @ 8:51pm
True true, but the Bow is weaker than the M24 Rifle (Military) and the Chainsaw is weaker than the Katana (Sharpened). Explosives can be aimed at the zombies' feet.
