How to facecamp

A serious guide on how to facecamp effectively and with which killer, currently WIP.

What is camping?

To put it simply, facecamping is when you stand right in front of the hooked person, hence facecamping.
Proxy camping is another form of camping where you are always near the hook, always watching it, but not right in their face.
Certain killers can do this form of camping extremely easily, while others find it difficult.

I will provide scores at the end of every killer with facecamping scores and some killers will have edge cases and will sometimes be higher, or lower! Use your best judgement.
0 facecamp score means baseline killer, just m1 with no abilities to help.

This is my opinion, take it as you wish.

Trapper

Ah yes, one of the first of the 25 killers to facecamp with, and quite effective too! To some extent.
In the basement, he is unmatched next to bubba, placing traps on all the exits and the window makes it nearly impossible to escape OR get in.
As such, good perks to use would be agitation, iron grip, mad grit, and starstruck, as usually the basement is far away and it takes awhile to get there.

While he is the best in basement, outside hes subpar, while hes better than some killers not by much. Christmas tree trapper is a form of camping trapper where they place all their traps on a single hook, hence christmas tree. This generally however doesn't work out since you can step on your own traps and drop the survivor or give survivors time to unhook each other.

Good addons to use would be, in no particular order:

Bloody coil!
This addon decreases the bear trap disarm speed by 20%, but the best part is that when an uninjured survivor disarms a trap, they get instantly injured. If you basement trap with this, no one can save for the rest of the game, it is impossible.
Any other coil addons are also useful as it takes more time for survivors to disarm a trap giving your hooked victim less time.




Any addons thats increase the trap setting are useful as the pesky survivors try to disarm your traps to get inside your basement! The image on the side are "Fastening Tools" which increase the setting speed by 50%.


Camp rating in basement: 10/10
Camp rating outside basement: 1/10
Proxy camp rating: 2.5/10
Over all: Really good in camping in the basement, practically unmatched, however facecamping won't be really possible. Outside of the basement he is for the most part an m1 killer, and traps won't be that effective seeing as they can be used against you.
However if it is an indoors map, the score is higher. Proxy camping in the case of the trapper is just setting traps before or after hooking someone, not too effective really.

Wraith

Considering now that undetectable doesn't help with borrowed time anymore, he is arguably one of the worst to facecamp with. No addons help, his ability doesn't help, you're better NOT facecamping.
However with his speed in cloak with his addons, he can proxy camp decently well.


With windstorm your speed is increased massively, 6 m/s without addons alone! You can proxy camp quite well with said addons but as said before, with facecamping it is useless.

Proxy Camp Score 7.5/10
Notes: Terrible in facecamping, pick another killer. With his speed though, he can proxy camp rather effectively so proxy camping is a decent idea.

Hillbilly

Honestly the best and most fun killer in my personal opinion, and the overheating doesn't actually stop you from facecamping at all. Way to go BHVR add a ♥♥♥♥ feature that only prevents you from playing him the correct way.

With the rant out of the way, Hillbilly has a 1 shot chainsaw which takes 2.5 seconds to charge while unhooking takes 1 second to do. They are however temporarily immobilized for more than a second, giving you more than enough time to trade but do be warned that if mistimed you could instead hit the person with BT and lose all your camping pressure!

Overheat

Lovely mechanic, just makes the killer just unfun.
Anyway you have 100 charges, starting the chainsaw adds 5, reviving adds 8 per second and sprinting adds 2 per second. It goes down by 3.5 charges per second, but if you overheat it goes down by 6.6 charges per second? Got that? Good.


This reduces your speed to 4.4 m/s (Hillbilly is 4.6 m/s) but increases your chainsaw speed charge by 20%! Yay! This addon is terrible and honestly I don't think should be used for camping since you can't get a hook in the first place, the speed REALLY hampers you. However if you got someone on hook, a chainsaw in 2 seconds instead of 2.5 seconds is useful. Your call.



Any addons that help with overheat will help considering if you keep being forced to rev your chainsaw early.


Facecamp score: 4.5/10
Proxy camp score: 5/10
Notes: Indoor maps, proxy camp score goes to 0. He is okay at camping, not the best though. His proxy camping is okay I guess if you know survivors aren't nearby and you can sprint back. Otherwise hes fine.

The Nurse

Nurse. I don't play nurse much but shes slightly op in general. For facecamping she has no real abilities to help, although it does help for tunneling but this is a facecamping guide not a tunneling guide. Proxy camping as nurse with range addons is really useful

Any range increasing addons, along with faster recharge is pretty good for proxy camping but not that effective for face camping.

Notes: While nurse has no real ability to facecamp, she is nearly unmatched by her ability to proxy camp very far away. Also you're nurse so why even face camp lol

The Shape

Oh boy, Myers aka The Shape, is one of my favorite killers. Also really great at face camping! He has a lot more set up to face camp (properly) but is really good at face camping. In tier 3 evil within, he exposes everyone but takes time to stalk people. If you 99 your stalk and facecamp someone, no one can do anything about it.
You can make it even worse or better (depending on which side of the hook you're on) with addons!


This addon. Tombstone piece. Any tombstone addons work.
Once you get to tier 3, you can kill a single survivor (multiple if you have the full tombstone). Your t3 ends by that point but does it really matter? 1 survivor is out of the game instantly, and you got someone on hook.
The plan is that you 99 your t3, THEN hook someone so when someone comes to the rescue to you either kill the rescuer before they get a rescue (preferably) or kill the person who got unhooked because its extremely funny.

Any hair addons (literally they are just hair) are great. This in particular gives you infinite t3, and once you have infinite t3 literally no one can come for the save anymore, that's it. Takes a very long time to get to t3 though so it might be too late. Although if you're facecamping you probably don't care.

This is Judith's Journal, and it increases your stalk rate by 40% on the obsession. A good combo is enduring nemesis and this addon so you can quickly stalk a survivor after being stunned.
Any other stalking addons work great too, and are preferable.

Facecamp score 10/10
Proxy Camp score 2.5/10
Myers is excellent at face camping and okay at proxy camping, with his 16m tr people might do a risky unhook without them knowing, and if you have t3 you can effectively create a dead zone around them if you are face camping.
With addons, such as tombstone piece, it is literally impossible for survivors to rescue anyone and honestly you're better than bubba at facecamping. A lot of set up, but not too much.

Hag

ugggggggggh
Do I even have to mention her here, honestly all her games ARE just proxy camping, "Ohhh I'm not proxy camping thats just my ability" yeah sure.
Hag. Disgusting. If you play hag stop reading this guide you're already a pro.














This addon allows you to set your traps faster, great for quickly getting and out if you want to proxy camp, not too useful for face camping.













This addon instead of being able to teleport you block survivors, great for facecamping and on indoors maps you can literally stop a survivor in their tracks completely. Terrible for proxy camping.













This increases the range you can teleport to from your traps, great for proxy camping not for face camping.

Facecamp score 0/10, higher with addons.
Proxy camp score 10/10
Notes: All hag mains know how to proxy camp and you can do that easily. You can teleport to a trap 40 meters away so like, whats the point?
You set them so fast too and the only counter is a flashlight or crouching, so when you try to leave crouching the killer will be on your ass instantly. Dumb killer.

Doctor

Ah Herman "Actually White" Carter. At least that's what twitter told me.
Pretty decent, his shock prevents ALL actions from being done, most notably, unhooking.


His perk can shock survivors preventing them from doing really anything at all, including hooking. His ability prevents survivors from unhooking when they get shocked for 2.5 seconds. He has no addons that really help in face camping.

Proxy camping score: 3/10
Notes: Hes fine at facecamping but not the best, and his shock can help if survivors don't know how to time it correctly. His proxy camping is a bit above due to the fact you can find any survivors slowly sneaking closer.

Huntress

Huntress, AKA Anna is a ranged killer. She throw hatchets at a quite far distance too! Up to 40 m/s if she charges for 3 seconds. Not only that she can hit the air around you instead of just you! Isn't huntress so LOVELY?
















Not many of her addons are useful for facecamping except for iridescent head, as shown. It can down any survivor instantly, making for a very interactive experience. If you face camp with this addon no one can get close in time seeing as it takes 1.25 seconds to ready and throw your hatchets.

Facecamp score: 9/10
Facecamp score without iri head: 1.5/10
Proxy camp score: 6.5/10
Notes: With her addon she can facecamp and basically no one can do anything about it, unless there are multiple people but by that point you've already won or lost depending on whether or not the gens are done.
Her ranged attack also make her decent at proxy camping seeing as she can hit far away however it DOES require line of sight.

Bubba

Bubba

Facecamp score: Bubba/10
Proxy camp score: 3.5/10
Notes: Bubba.
For proxy camping hes okay, with his speed he can catch up quite fast, from being 4.6 to 5.29 m/s in a chainsaw sprint he can catch up to any survivor quite fast. But why proxy camp as bubba? Do your God given duty!

Freddy "Fredrick" Fred

The Nightmare

Not really good at face camping or proxy camping, although for awake survivors it'll take longer before they realize you're actually there. Then they'll hear the tr and know you're camping.
Asleep survivors will not hear your tr which is fine I guess, but just bring insidious since its then just a roll of whether or not they hear your tr

Proxy camp score 3.5/10
Notes: Not really good at either, his snares can help though at blocking people from getting at people.

Pig

Her power is fully rng and doesn't help with face camping. Also her dash attack kinda sucks. None of her addons help with facecamping or proxy camping, and with 150 seconds with every reverse bear trap gives enough time to rescue and leave.

Proxy camp score: 1/10
Notes: Her crouch attack is okay at insidious camping but once again you could just use the perk.

Clown

Clown, with 4 (without addons) bottles which can interrupt survivors when it comes to most actions besides vaulting and throwing pallets down and dead hard egh.

This addon if you direct hit a survivor gets them exposed. Pretty simple, along with the 15% slow down from purple bottles thats good.

Facecamp score: 3.5/10, 7.5/10 with addons.
Proxy camp score: 1.5/10
Notes: he can interrupt actions with his bottles, namely unhooks. They can also be exposed with the addon.
Regarding proxy camping, the 10% faster bottle speed can help decently with proxy camping.

Spirit

♥♥♥♥♥

Her power is being able to be an absolute terrible killer to against, and if you're killer, gets you free kills instantly by people not wanting to play against a spirit and dcing.


Facecamping score: 0/10
Proxy camping score: 8/10, 10/10 with addons
Notes: She has a lot of addons that increases her speed while being worse in a chase namely the op iri addon. Anyway I'm not going to list them since they basically all help with proxy camping since no one can tell if you're proxy camping for a bit. Yup.
Just pretend you're phasing away if you know someone is nearby, I guess.

Legion

Legion. I mean if everyone is injured yeah they'd be okay at facecamping but also that goes for all killers. They can also heal.

Facecamping score: 0.5/10
Proxy Camping: 1/10
Notes: Nothing they have helps with face camping, and the feral addons can help with proxy camping since you go 130% instead of 115%, but these help a tiny bit, however without addons you basically take a mini-ds every time you go into a fatigue.

Plague

Plague can apply broken to survivors which can be pretty helpful since they can't "heal" per se, but they can cleanse which gives you your power. Pretty helpful if they need to cleanse to save someone from facecamping and make your next facecamping a bit easier. Issue is that getting your power which lasts 60 seconds and also getting a down in time is a bit difficult. However it lasts 60 seconds which is enough for 1 hook stage and is really difficult to save, and without bt its suicide.

Proxy camp score: 0/10
Notes: Her corrupt purge ability is pretty decent at face camping due to the long duration, but getting it both in time is a bit unwieldy. And being simply just a 115% killer her proxy camping is pretty mediocre.

Ghostface

If you play ghostface you probably don't even need this guide due to how much they always camp.



Ghost shroud hides your terror radius and your red stain, however survivors can bring you out of it by looking at you. His ability allows you to mark survivors and expose them for 45 seconds, 60 seconds max with addons.
Marking you takes 100 "stalk points" and leaning from a corner halves the time it takes to stalk you, from 5 seconds to 2.5 seconds. We can use this strategy of 99ing survivors, and then waiting at a hooked survivor.


This addon reduces stalk time while not leaning from a corner from 5 seconds to 4.25 seconds, along with the other best addon reducing it to 3.75 seconds of stalking if not leaning from a corner.
Now since it takes 100 stalk points, you gain 20 points of stalk every second when not leaning (5 seconds), and 40 points when leaning (2.5 seconds) to fully expose someone.
With both addons you stalk 1.25 seconds faster, and stalk at a rate of 26.666... stalk points, so you can actually plan around this, so 75% gives them a second to get close, and 80% without any addons.


Facecamping: 7/10 with preparation
Proxy camping: 3.5/10
Notes: If you prepare by marking survivors you can easily make a perfect camping scenario where every time someone gets close you can either trade hooks or get them down before they get near the hook. Still a 115% killer with no mobility however he can patrol nearby with no tr and just wait, so that can work.
