Introduction
Self esteem booster
Remember to give it a thumbs up and favorite if it helped you, I need that stuff for self validation :)

Party Members
In previous versions of the game, every time a party member left there was a risk of losing their gear permanently.

As it has been confirmed by several users, the Pixel Remaster places their gear in your inventory, making this no longer an issue.

This section will remain in the guide as to state it for anyone that is not aware.

Save Slots
Use them. That's it... this section's only purpose is the first -and last- friendly reminder that you have like 20 Save Slots to use as backup.

Also, do try to prioritize the missables over anything else, this will save you headaches having to reload any of the aforementioned backups :)

Bestiary
Actually open it... No, really
Turns out the Bestiary in the Pixel Remasters is not only an awesome compendium, but actually it basically works as a Pokedex too. It is actually so good that there is no reason for the wiki link[finalfantasy.fandom.com] to be here anymore lol
Do note I mean the main menu bestiary as opposed to the in-game one. Huge difference.

Display Map
This is the one feature that makes research obsolete, long story short just chase ? marks if you are planning to complete the Bestiary.
  • World Monsters: These will show up as a big ? mark, if you go to the location where the mark is you will find a missing entry.
  • Dungeon Monsters: While a little less precise, it will still show how many entries are in the dungeon and a ? mark for those missing so you know if you have completed it or need to keep running around.

Sidenote: Yes, I figured this out right before completing the Bestiary in FFIV and did not take any screenshots of the ? marks, use your imagination.

Extra: A word of wisdom from TaskTren for those that insist on using the wiki link[finalfantasy.fandom.com].
TaskTren a écrit :
The Great Marlboro and Golden Toad (142 and 143) don't exist in the game, as the Cave of Trials is not present.
So, the Selene Guardian is 142 instead of 144(on the Bestiary on the Fandom page) for the FFIVPR, so every entry around that area moves back by 2.

142.Selene Guardian
143.Dark Sage
144.Silver Dragon
145.Gold Dragon

Rather than 144-147. Figured I would give a little info here if people were confused with those entries.
Kaipo, Oasis of the Desert
  • Bestiary: 021 - General will flee if you kill all the Soldiers first.
You can kill 2 Baron Soldiers and then the General so they don't bother you as much.
Fabul Castle
  • Bestiary: 036 - Captain will flee if you kill the Baron Warriors first.
You have 3 chances to get this entry in this area.
Tower of Zot
  • Location: One time dungeon. Make sure to keep a separate save as backup.

    070 - Hell Turtle: 2F.

Dwarven Castle
  • Bestiary: 173 - Calcobrena will be missed if you do not allow Calco and Brina to use Combine.

Note: The only way I got them to consistently use Combine was to kill the 3 front Brina.
Even if you don't kill any Calco it will be added to the Bestiary with 0 kills, if you do not like this kill at least 1 Calco and then 3 Brina.

    087 - Naga
    088 - Evil Doll

Credit to loudmog for helping me confirm some of these before I reached it on my run.

Extra: Turns out there is a second chance to visit this area right after you finish the Overworld visit but before doing anything else. I mention it because it is fun, don't take it as a chance to neglect the Bestiary on your first visit.

I'm grateful for the guide, it saved my hide a couple of times, but as @MrZetha and @Aethelia mentioned, the first visit to the Tower of Babel isn't very reliable:

- Mad Ogre isn't there (and isn't missable)
- it mentions stolen items under "underworld" Babel, but by the time Edge joins "underworld" Babel is already inaccessible, which made me believe you have more time to clean up the missables than you actually do
- mystery egg isn't missable and can be found south of Sylph Cave (thanks to the user Black Mage Luis in another thread)

One correction for Tower of Babel: the Mad Ogre (102) is not found there in the first visit; instead on the second. Also, he can be found in Monster chests on Eblan Castle.

Calcobrena is bestiary 171, not 173. Thank you for the guide.

@Aethelia the guide makes a clear distinction between the portion thats in the Overworld and the portion thats in the Underworld, the screenshots provided also clearly show the in game distinction you are making of 16 and 8... I can baby-proof if you want.

@erpmario thanks for clarifying, I have updated the wording to be clearer regarding this.

@Refurbished Hamster I got stuck on this for a while too. Turns out there's a difference between the Bestiary in-game and the Bestiary accessed from the main menu. You need to use the latter to see all the useful ? marks and location breakdowns. No idea why the devs decided not to include that in the in-game Bestiary.
Refurbished Hamster 15 mars 2024 à 16h04
"Sidenote: Yes, I figured this out right before completing the Bestiary in FFIV and did not take any screenshots of the ? marks, use your imagination."

This explains why you think it's like a pokedex. Before you find the monster, it gives you 0 information except monster number. So, yes, something like that wiki page is still very much needed to actually find the things you don't have.
Aethelia 10 févr. 2024 à 15h40
Tower of Babel has two separate treasure counts, first is 16, second is 8.

Just lost a lot of time because this guide was phrased vaguely. It says ToB is a "One time dungeon", but then it says some nonsense about what you can steal even though you cannot steal yet the first time you get there because you get Edge before the second visit, not the first. So when I had 15/16, and had seen a treasure chest that could not be reached yet, I thought I would get that one on the second visit. Nope. Have to get 16 the first time.

If the guide had just said "All 16 chests" and then "All 8 chests", instead of just "All chests." then this could have been avoided. Why is that misleading part about stealing items before you can steal items even there? Made it sound like that location and its chests cannot be lost until after getting Edge.

@FenecK happy to hear!
@Protoblob fixed

I am a pro at replying in a timely manner.

I don't see 13 Chocobo Forests again in this game? Just an error when copy-pasting it from FF3?
FenecK 5 juil. 2023 à 5h56
Big thankyou for the guide! Helped so much, stopped me having to play it twice!!
Guide could be made a little smoother, like the tower part, had me searching for a mob you couldn't get until later in the tower. But still great. Cheers. :FFIVredwings:
