Greetings
Hello.
This is a guide is my knowledge of the bosses and the mechanics of the sorrow runs.

You don't haft to do everything I say. This guide is probably heavily flawed, but this is my attempt at helping you guys in any way I can.
Where to find it

Build
Now you yourself can do any build you want. However as an example I wish to show you the build I had which gave me an S+ rank.

As you can see this build is mostly defensive. I chose this because it is both my preference, and also this game mode is an endurance run.
Suggested prayers
Ok so in my run these were the three prayers I used, and the prayers I suggest using. Though if you want you can use other prayers.

Saeta Dolorosa: This prayer allows you to get health on swing with your Mea Culpa for a short time. This allows you to remain aggressive while healing yourself. and is a great assistance in something like this where it is an endurance run.

Tiento to your Thorned Hairs: This will bassicly give you invincibility for a short time. This is a great help as well and can make some opponents far easier as you do not have to worry about getting hit while you whale on them.

Debla of the Lights: This prayer cost a lot but under certain circumstances, can do a lot of damage. It can make some opponents a cake walk as it will bring them near death or potentially stun lock them.
The Sorrows

Unlocked at the start. Contains the first half of the original games bosses.
------

Unlocked by completing the previous title on true torment. Contains the second half of the base game's bosses
------

Unlocked by completing the previous sorrow on true torment. Contains all the bosses of the base game's bosses.
------

Unlocked by completing the previous sorrow on true torment. Contains rising dawn's bosses.
------

Unlocked by completing the previous sorrow on true torment. Contains all base game and rising dawn's bosses. And unlike the others, you get a reward at the end after beating on true torment.
Pilgrim and True Torment
Pilgrim is what you have at the start of each Sorrow and is basically the bosses when they are in the base game.
True Torment is the bosses in NG+.

Your score
At the end of each run, the game will give you a score.
S+ Is the highest possible rating (At least as far as I know of)

The things that determine your score are:
The two bowls
These two bowls will be important.
The bowl on the left will restore your health and your biles.
The bowl on the right will fill up your favor.

These bowls will only refill in the third and fifth Sorrows after you complete a section of it that was its own sorrow. For instance Sorrow three; If I beat the first half of it (Which is Sorrow one) Then they will be refilled even when I use them up right before the last boss of the first sorrow. (And yes they still do this in True Torment)
1: Warden of the Silent Sorrow

Suggested prayers: None, you wont really need any prayers for this guy.
------
Tip: He will jump, slam, jump ,slam. So he is very predictable
------

Attack 1: This is him basically revving up the attack where he slams down, so just back away and jump over the shock wave.

Attack 2: This is what he will look like when he is about to jump. Just make sure to move out of the way and not get stomped on
2: Ten Piedad

Prayers suggested: Maybe Saeta Dolorosa but only if you just want to heal and not waste a bile.
------
Tip: Sometimes if you do the combo that sends you upwards in the air, he might swing multiple times. Since the combo causes you to avoid it, you might be able to get into a loop. Though it doesn't last long in my experience.
------

Attack 1: He will slam his foot down. During this attack you can go past him to the other side, however no matter what after his slam, roots will appear from the ground. Depending on his health it may vary from 1-3 roots that will burst from the ground.

Attack 2: In this attacks he leans down to swipe at you. Other than the combo, you can either move out of the way, jump over it, or parry it. If you parry you can just do a dash attack.

Attack 3: When he does this, he is revving up an attack where roots will come out of the ground around him. Depending on the amount of health he has, you might want to get further away than normal as more roots will come.

Attack 4: This attack has him fire out these seed thing, and he will only do this when you are a little bit of distance away. When the seeds lands, a bed of roots will form for a bit on the ground and stay there, though you can destroy them.
-------
Things to note: The lower his hp the more roots there are.
3: Our Lady of the Charred Visage

Prayers: Debla of the Lights.
------
Tips: Save your favor for this boss and when you fight them, spam Debla of Lights when you can and you will be able to easily get rid of a lot of their health. In fact, for the normal run this could actually kill them. Other than that just play defensively and smack when you can.
------

Attack 1: She will aim her lazer at you, and for a split second before it happens a beam of purple energy will show you where she is aiming. Just move out of the way.

Attack 2: She will fire a wave of orbs that come out very quickly. The only way to actually dodge them (Without using any defnesive miracles) is to be a good distance from the attack, as the orbs will space out the farther they go.

Attack 3: She will fire out some orbs at you. You can dodge them but you can also smack them back, and if you do it right, you can damage her a little with them.

Attack 4: Very similar to attack 2, but much slower and much easier to dodge.

Attack 5: This is similar to attack 1, however she is not aiming at you but in four different areas at the same time. Make sure to avoid them and if need be climb on the walls.
------
Things to note: At around half HP or less she will bring out her 2nd hand where you will haft to deal with twice as many attacks.

4: Tres Angustias

Prayers: Debla of Lights and Saeta Dolorosa.
------
Tips: If possible try to find a way to hit all three of them at once, as the damage to the HP bar will triple. Either managing to do a combo against them or using the rang attack you can do that costs little favor.
------

Attack 1: The one wielding the more blunt looking weapon will send this thing out. It will move about the arena and you will haft to avoid it (Duh). You will see a quick red effect to warn you, but its very short.

Attack 2: The other two will do this. They will fire out their spears and will aim them at you. When the red flashes, and they stop aiming, that is when you start moving out of the way. You can also parry this attack if you want.

Attack 3: The three will fuse together as this thing. When that happens any weapons on the walls will have that ringing bell effect, and if you get hit by it you will fall down. During this form, purple energy will build up before shooting upward.
------
Things to note: The lower their hp the more often they will turn into this thing (At least in my experience) Also once their hp is low enough, they will permanently be fused together.
5: Esdras, of the Anointed Legion
Prayers suggested: Saeta Dolorosa.
------
Tips: Be very defensive but at the same time offensive if that makes sense. Also make sure to keep an eye on this guys sister when she appears.
------

Attack 1: This is his most common attack that has two variants. In variant one he will simple bay blade his way towards you. In the second variant, he will instead spin towards the corner of the arena and then spin to the other side as lightning comes down behind him. You can attack him right away after this. You can parry this

Attack 2: If you hit him too much at once, he will slam his weapon down causing a shock wave. Other than not getting to greedy to avoid this, you can parry it if you are close enough.

Attack 3: This is the stance he will do for most of his attacks. However other than spinning he will try to directly swing at you. If he does you can simply parry him, and if you do it right, you can do that riposte sort of attack afterwords.

Attack 4: He will usually do this when his health is lower and when his sister is not around. Basically he will spin in place and send waves of energy around. Just keep a distance and jump over them. You cannot hurt him when he does this to my knowledge.

Attack 5: Here he will slam his weapon down, drag it across the ground, and swing it upwards. This causing a row of lightning to fall in front of him. When he does this you can get behind him and start smack after the attack.

Attack 6: When his health is around 2/5 to 1/2 of hp, he will call for his sister and slam the ground. When this happens, a lot of lightning will fall down around and on him as his sister appears. Keep a good distance when this happens, and don't be like me here.

Sister attack 1: She will point forward and a lightning bolt will come down from the sky. Simple enough to dodge if you keep an eye on her.

Sister attack 2: She will come down or go to where you are and fly towards you. Simply jump over her.
-------
Things to know: As stated before, when his hp is low enough his sister will appear. Also almost all of his attacks are parry-able.
6: Melquides, the Exhumed Archbishop
Suggested prayers: None really since I suggest to save your favor for the next boss. But if not then Debla of the Lights.
------
Tips: The combo that sends you upward is really good against him. Also any prayer that allows you to hit all the hands at once is nice.
------

Attack 1: The hands will rise from the floor and try to squish you. They will appear around where you are and then go off in one direction. However when the bosses hp is low enough they will become slower and their location will be random.

Attack 2: The archbishop will try to hit you with his staff. You will know when he is doing it by the unique sound he does. This attack is parry-able.

Attack 3: The archbishop will go from one end of the arena to the other, constantly hitting the ground. Whenever he does a pillar of light will appear. Usually best to just wait this attack out. His hits can be parry-able though.

Attack 4: Pillars of light will appear at random, even when he is stunned/down. However you can tell when this happens by the change if his hand in the image above.
------
Things to know: All of his melee attacks are parry-able.
7: Exposito, Scion of Abjuration
Suggested prayers: Debla of the Lights definitely.
------
Tips: Save of favor for this boss and spam Debla of the lights, also make sure it hits both the face and the weak discolored spot of the serpent thing (Aka its weak spot)
------

Attack 1: The boss will circle around you while acid falls from above. Simple to dodge.

Attack 2: The baby in the background will get upset as it cries while a circle appears around you. Once the baby starts moving you need to make sure your not in the circle. Or else you will be instantly killed as the child rips you apart.

Attack 3-5: The boss will give a face and make a biting sound. When this happens one of three attacks will take place. One, it will fire multiple fireballs, with a chance that its tail will come out somewhere in the arena. Two, it will shoot out a sort of boomering of vines that will come back to it. Three, it will have its tail attack you not once but possibly twice.

Attack 6: Tbh I didn't even know of this attack until I started working on this guide. Anyway, the serpent will rev back and then lunge at you face first. It will do this three times. Thankfully it cannot go past more than half of the arena (At least in my experience)
8: Quirce, Returned by the Flame
Suggested prayers: Debla of the Lights.
------
Tips: When he is stationary while on the celing, use Debla for some bonus damage.
------

Attack 1: He will teleport on the ceiling. When this happens one of two things will take place. One his blade will run along the walls out and back to him. Two, his sword goes diagonally across the room and back to him. Really good idea to be in the corner closest to him and whale damage on him.

Attack 2: He will appear on the ground and hover? run? He'll move forward and leave a trail of fire pillars behind. You can jump over him and stand right next to him and smack him alot. However do not be too greedy or else he will stomp on you.

Attack 3: He will apear directly above you and the moment he lands a pillar of fire will apear right on him. If his health is low enough, two pillars on both sides will appear. Also Usually after 4 of these, he will stop for a second and do attack 4. Then he will repeat the process a second time before transiting to attack 5. You can also parry this, but it will cause a minor glitch where he hovers above the ground.

Attack 4: He will teleport on the wall and throw his sword at you. Simply duck while dashing towards him to avoid it.

Attack 5: Without his blade he will rush at you with his bares hands. You can parry this or jump over him. Your choice.

Attack 6:He will teleport back to where his sword is and take it out from the wall. When this happens pillars of fire will come out and go to about half way through the arena. If his health is low, it will go a little further.

9: Crisanta of the Wrapped Agony
Suggest prayers: Saeta Dolorosa for healing.
------
Tips: Be good at parrying, or have something to help you with that.
------

Attack 1: She will get into this position and stay there for a few seconds. If you act fast enough you can hit her. Of course she will block it and swing back at you, but if you parry and are sent back, you can do a dash attack or run up and smack her a bit.

Attack 2: She will jump or appear in the air and strike diagonaly. If you dodge this there will be a shock wave to avoid. And if you parry this she will attack shortly after she lands back on the ground. But you can just parry a second time.

Attack 3: In this attack she will swing immediately. And if you parry it and are close enough you can do a riposte attack. If you fail she will then shortly afterwords swing a second time.

Attack 4: This is just her swing her blade. She can do this after or during some of the previously mentioned attacks but if you parry this you will be sent backwards.

Attack 5: When she is about half-way dead or less she will stop and go into phase two. Causing this explosion with a shock wave to avoid. You cannot hurt her when this happens.

Attack 6: This and the diagonal variant appear in phase two, where she will teleport randomly and attack you. Your best hope of avoiding getting hit is parrying.
------
Things to know: The lower her health the less she will stand still, meaning you will have less time to attack her.

10: His Holiness Escribar
Suggested prayers Tiento to your Thorned Hairs.
------
Tips: Use Tiento to your Thorned Hairs to whale on him without worry. Some attacks of the boss are better than others to use this on.
------

Attack 1: When Escribar does this, he will shoot beams of purple energy towards you. To avoid this just jump and duck over the attacks.

Attack 2: When Escribar does this, green orbs will appear. They can be attacked to send back and used to damage the boss, but also leave behind a faint gas cloud that can damage you.

Attack 3: Escribar will cause a storm of fire balls to rain down, slowly increasing in the speed as they come down on you. Other than using a Tiento to easily survive, you can also run from one end of the arena and carefully dodge and weave through the fire balls. This is the best attack to use Tiento and curb stomp him.

Attack 4: Doing this, Escribar will cause winds to slowly push you away from him. As this happens lightning will come down on you. It will first be on you directly and then at both your sides, and vise versa.
------
Things to know: Sometimes you can accidentally pump into him when he is 'teleporting'. Also make sure to have plenty of favor still after this boss fight.

11: Last Son of the Miracle
Suggested prayers: Debla of the Lights.
------
Tips: Have plenty of favor to use the Debla of lights.
------

Attack 1: The sword will swing itself towards you. Just simply walk out of the way if possible.

Attack 2: The sword will move straight up before heading straight down at you while causing a shock wave. Pretty simple, just get out of the way and get above the shock wave.

Attack 3: This will cause twice as many balls of fire to rain down on you compared to the previous boss. Same suggested tactic. He will also do this attack more often the lower his health is.

Attack 4: When this sign appears one of two things can happen. One a wave of lightning will cover a half of the map. Or two lighting will start appearing around you. Just keep an eye out for the lightning particles and act accordingly.

Attack 5: It is exactly like the Escribar version.

Attack 6: This attack will also cause one of two things. One, pillars of energy will build up first at the center and fire out, and then slowly towards the edges of the arena. Two, A few energy beams will shoot out from the symbol, but its very easy to dodge by standing in the middle.
------
Things to know: You will haft to temporarily kill the sword by hitting its eye before you can attack the boss.

The Amenecidas
When it comes to these next couple of bosses there are things to note if you don't know already.
1. you cannot instantly hurt them, you must first destroy their purple crystal armor/ gem that surrounds them. This can be done simply by attacking them.

2. Their shock waves will cause the ground to lift off the ground. If you don't stand on the rising ground you could get hurt.

3. When you see this: That is your time to strike. If you do enough damage soon enough they will be interrupted. If not then they will regain their protection as a powerful explosion happens around them.
12: Amanecida of the Golden Blades
Suggested prayers: Mainly Saita Dolorosa, and maybe Tiento.
------
Tips: During attack 4 you can use Tiento and freely attack her.
------

Attack 1: She will hover above the player as a sort of charging sound plays. When she yells, they will throw down their axe which will go a little bit ways apposite to where you were when she threw it, and then it will go the other way to the other side of the arena.

Attack 2: Here she will summon to weapons that hover around her. If she moves about, these will get in your way. If she stands at one end of the map, she will send these weapons at you about three times. Only way I know how to naturally avoid this is parrying.

Attack 3: She will suddenly attack you by swinging her axe. Merely parry it and you will be fine, even if it sends you back a little. Or just go the other way.

Attack 4: Here she will go to one end of the arena and charge up her swings. Your only hope (That I know of) is parrying the attack or the wave of energy sent from it. Depending on the amount of fire pillars, the more she will swing.

Attack 5: She will twirl in the air and slam into the ground (A move you will see her sisters do a lot as well). Afterwords a shock wave will come, and you can easily dodge it by standing on the floor the shock wave lifts up.

Attack 6: Golden blades will jump in the air before swinging downwards. When she hits the ground there will be a shock wave. Very simple to avoid.

Attack 7: This is the best screenshot I could get, but bassicly what happens is she charges up in the air with this purple energy. Then she will do something very similar to attack 5 but there will be an additional wave of energy in the shock waves. Very rare for her to do in my experience
------
Things to know: When she looses about one bar of health, one pillar of flames will appear at the end of the arena for the rest of the fight. Then when close to being half way down, another row of pillars will appear. And finally whens he has about three bars of health left, another row of pillars will arrive.
13: Amanecida of the Bejeweled Arrow
Suggested prayers: Tiento and maybe Saeta Dolorosa (Then again i suggest that prayer for sorrows in general)
------

Attack 1: She will sit in the corner of the arena and pull back her bow. Meanwhile you will see those things in the screenshot above, which warn you where her arrows will go. Make sure to avoid them and sometimes you can just stand behind her without worry as you attack her.

Attack 2: Unlike attack 1, there will only be one line of energy. When she shoots the arrow, the arrow will get stuck in the wall as she teleports upward while firing more arrows. After words lightning will strike sideways at the arrow. Make sure to be on the wall and time it correctly when you fall downwards. If you cannot time your ability to dodge the lightning, try to avoid the first arrow and then activate Tiento.

Attack 3: She will appear above the arena and prepare and onslaught of arrows, which will not fire immediately. Also sometimes you will see those things seen in the other attacks which warn you of additional arrows. Make sure to be in a good position to easily avoid them.

Attack 4: She will directly fire an arrow at you. Sometimes though she will fire multiple arrows at once like a shot gun. The normal version is easy to dodge just by dashing, the others will require more precise positioning.

Attack 5: She will hover above the ground and teleport about while shooting down arrows. When this happens shock waves that her sisters do will happen. Simply dodge it as you would with the others.

Attack 6: They will teleport to a corner and will begin charging. Easily recognizable by the purple energy. When she is done they will fire a huge beam of energy. Simply hang onto the walls or use Tiento to casually smack her.
------
Things to know: Attack 5 and 6 become more common the lower her health is. The slight variant of attack 3 will only happen once (At least in my experience), if not then it will rarely happen.
14: Amanecida of the Chiseled Steel
Suggested prayers: The usual that I have suggested for the other Amanecidas.
------
Tips: Do not blindly swing at her, even when she isn't doing anyway. Also make sure to be decent at parrying.
------

Attack 1: When you attack her, she will often dodge and leave in her place a green phantom of herself which will explode and do a crazy amount of damage. When the happens, make sure to get away asap, preferably on the opposite side of the original Amanecida that is facing the fake.

Attack 2: She will teleport about and swing at you. Other than trying to dodge, it is easier to just parry. You can tell where she is about to go by the warning effect in the screenshot above.

Attack 3: They will swing their blade and cause these annoying things of energy to slowly hover about the arena. If you act quick enough you can smack em back, but they don't damage her. But its better than not doing it as they can heavily restrict where you can go.

Attack 4: She will simply swing at you. Parry and you can do a riposte attack.

Attack 5: She will teleport at the edge of the arena and swing her weapon after charging it up. She will do this multiple times, and which with every swing a wave of energy will shoot out at you. You can parry the energy and her swing. Also if you get close enough you can parry her and do a riposte attack.

Attack 6: She will twirl about the arena like a ballerina. Other then Tiento you can parry this to survive. But warning she will send out those annoying green energy things as she does this.

Attack 7: They will spin at the center of the arena and slowly ascend. As she does so, the green energy attacks will fly out of her in different directions. Debla of lights is good for this.
------
Things to know: The least amount of space to move about compared to her sisters. The green energy can be knocked back if you act fast enough.
15: Amanecida of the Molten Thorn
Prayers suggested: The usual I have suggested for the Amanecidas
------

Attack 1: She will charge up a little and then lunge diagonally towards you. You can parry this but they will stop a split second before attacking, so you can just move out of the way as well. Usually she will do this multiple times before transitioning into attack 2.

Attack 2: They will charge up and lunge at you diagonally. However when they hit the ground, a shock wave will come as they sit on the ground for a second.

Attack 3: Like the previous boss, they will teleport about as the warning sign in the screenshot above shows where she will go. You can simply parry or move out of the way if possible.

Attack 4: She will twirl in the air before hitting the ground and lunging at you. This will repeat about 2-3 times and afterwords she will not lunge at you, allowing you to attack her. Probably simplest to just parry.

Attack 5: They boss will summon large shards of purple crystals from the air and will ram into the earth below. They act as platforms but they will not stay for long. Slowly they will get brighter and brighter before they burst and shoot out a beam of purple energy. Also if the player or the boss destroys them, the purple energy will come out early.

Attack 6: The boss will summon three of the crystals in attack 5 and then charge before shooting forward. Then she will go to the floor above and do it again (just without the crystals) You cannot parry this. Your only hope is to get on the platform above through the crystals and then get off after she passes by.

Attack 7: (There is no screenshot of this as I have only seen it once and I have no clue what it does. Maybe it is a glitch but I will record it here anyway.) Tiny purple shards will appear in the air before raining down.
------
Things to know: The arena has two platforms above that cannot be reached normally. Only through using a certain combo or the platforms, can you get on them. Also sometimes she will try to restore her shield on the above platforms, but you can just constantly jump under her while swinging to interrupt them.
16: Laudes, the First of the Amanecidas.
Prayers suggested: The same as the others of her kind.
------
Tips: You can use Debla of lights to stun lock her for a bit. When she trys to repair her shield. use Debla on her and start smack as soon as possible. If you did it right she will be interrupted and will try to do it again. And so you have stun locked her, or at least until you run out of favor.
------
Things to know: She uses all the attacks of her clones, just without environment hazards and slight differences in attacks. Also after so much of her hp is gone she will change her weapon.
First Phase: The Chiseled Steel.
Second Phase: The Molten Thorn
Third Phase: The Jeweled Arrow.
Fourth Phase: The Golden Blades.
The Reward.
If you manage to beat the fifth Sorrow on True Torment, then you will get this.

Good job.
Thank you.
Thank you for reading this guide, this is the most work I've down on a guide ever.
If there is something I missed or got wrong (Which I'm sure there is a lot of) let me know.
Also if there are any prayers or tips you would suggest for some bosses let me know as well.

Once again thanks for reading.

Thanks for the detailed guide! :blasesdras:
