Introduction

Welcome to the first of many guides and tutorials for DLR's new game No1Lives! No1Lives Battle Royal is the first installment in a series of games we will be releasing under the No1Lives name. The goal is to build and expand on our existing code to create many games that will all work with Mod Makers and Level Designers to build evolving games. What does "evolving" mean? It means games that get new maps, new models, and expanding mechanics as they age! That means the games will evolve, and change with time, getting better, feeling new over time!

It is our objective to change gaming itself, working directly with players to help reshape, and rethink the way games are built and played, adding new features, and new ideas to not only the game, but helping to shape the future of gaming. It's is our belief that players should have the opportunity to give input that directly impacts games.

Moving forward, this guide's intent is to explain the basics about N1L Battle Royal, as that is why you are reading this to begin with. That said, let's set the stage...

Global tensions have driven leading world powers to unite against the United States, who's population, living their self-absorbed lives, ignoring rising tensions, in favor of paying attention to their social media, and celebrities, were caught completely off guard as Biological Weapons were unleashed. Air-born the weapons took a deadly toll, driving vast numbers of the population instantly insane! The insane immediately turned on friends, family, neighbors, and the mindless masses, ripping them apart! The Axis of evil isn't worried about conquest of the America's, their real objective has only just become clear, No1Lives! Your role in this is up to you, are you going to join the side that tries to save the world, or are you going to join the side that wants to crush the Imperialist Dogs forever! Either way, the world is never going to be the same.

GamePlay
You start the game with a video that you can bypass with the Esc key or a Mouse click, followed by the Main Menu, here you can adjust your game settings, personalizing to your needs and taste. That said, if the game lags or plays slow, reduce your graphics settings to assist performance. Be sure that you are using a machine that can handle the game's requirements. Our requirements are set to the games MINIMUM needs to operate.
Once you have adjusted your settings you can then either host a local game on your machine, or join another person's game or a dedicated server. Should you randomly pick a game and that server owner has added plugins that modify the game expect the unexpected.
In game you will be presented with three choices of team. If you join the Allies you will be tasked with restoring basic infrastructure of daily life for the area, Power, Water, etc., establishing communications to get Air Drops, and then taking the fight to the enemy. In the end the Allies try to stop the total destruction or subjugation of the area. Joining the Axis, you will be tasked with destruction of the Allies infrastructure, and then total destruction of the enemy's capacity to live, No1Lives!
At any point after the game starts you can hit the Tab key to open and check your score or Objective Status to see where you and your team are, or how far the Enemy has progressed. For more on Key Bindings see the following section.
Key Bindings Explained
Controller support should be added fairly quick, so if you don't see it in the initial beta, just remind us. Custom Key Binding will likewise be added early on. For the purposes of this guide we will explain the current key bindings, and it is noteworthy that this is subject to change.

In Game Communication
A lot of thought went into how to add in game communication. In the past many of my personal favorite games allowed in game Voice Chat, which was very fun, but opened the door to Mic Spam, and Trolling. To fix this in popular games they allowed you to pick and mute specific players, but this requires opening menus and dealing with them specifically. So I decided to just create a simple solution, proximity voice chat.
This provides teams with the opportunity to spy on people they come up on from afar. I set the range to about 200 ft. To use it players can simply toggle the V key and it starts running open mic until they hit the V key to mute it. I did that so that people using a controller can hit the key and chat without bother. Y key opens Team Text Chat, Enter to Send to your entire team, U opens Global Text Chat, Enter to Send. Backspace to open the Chat History Log, and to Close it.
Use Team chat to organize and work with team members, and to help assemble for missions. When close you can communicate in game, if of the opposing team listen in as a spy, and then report back to your team via Text Chat, the options are yours to explore and exploit. Be a Troll and your own team can shut you up by shooting you, it is that easy. LOL
Ally Objectives for The Island

1. Restore the Power
Head to the South West Corner of the Island, locate the power plant. Fix the
steam leaks, then restart the breakers.
2. Establish Communications
To the East Side of the Island a small community has a Radio Station called
"Q FU Radio", located on the second floor is a radio that tells you to punch in
the coordinates for Air Drops, find the key pad on the servers and punch in
the code.
3. Restore the Water
On the Far North of the Island a Water Treatment plant controls the Island's
Water, find valves with steam leaks and then restart the breakers.
4. Use the Weather Drone to Locate Chemical 2 Chemical Weapons Piles
Near the Radio Station is a Weather Monitoring Station that has a Drone, On
the second floor a drone control area lets you take control of a drone, and
use it to locate Chemical Weapons Piles.
5. Destroy Chemical Weapons
Having found the Chemical Weapons Piles you must now go destroy them.
6. Secure the Weapons Bunker
The National Guard has a hidden weapons bunker located on a hill to the
south of the Island. Head there and unlock the vault via the keypad to get
access to tons of weapons. This is an Ally only perk, just don't lose it to the
Axis!
7. Destroy the Enemy Submarine
You can find the enemy Submarine located off the coast of the East side of
the Island. Using the big guns you got from the Bunker, take it out!
8. Destroy Enemy Propaganda Radio Tower
In the N/W part of the Island a radio tower is broadcasting a message for
the Axis, you need to take it out by shooting the controls, at the tower base!
9. Disable the Nuke
There's a Military Base located on the North side of the Island, find it, and
destroy the Nuclear Weapon Control Box. A nuke could well spell the end!
10. Destroy the Enemy Escape Boat
Once you have taken out the threat of the nuke, you need to cut off the
enemy's ability to escape, do this and you Win! Fail and you may well lose!

Note: You must complete the Objectives in Order. Doing them out of order is not possible.
Axis Objectives for the Island

1.Deploy Biological located at the Farm
Having planned this attack for years, the Axis has already placed chemical
weapons piles that only need the reagent added to activate. This is why your
Team all wear mask! Located on a Farm to the North East is a huge pile of
Chemical Weapons that when activated should ensure the death of all
Americans. Simply turn the valve to activate them all.
2. Destroy the Train
In the North the there is a Train Station, travel there and destroy the Train.
3. Destroy the Food Supply
To the South East, near the docks there are a number of Food Crates, destroy
them all to complete the Objective. Don't leave those Imperialist Dogs anything!
4. Take out the Military Base
Intelligence has located a nuclear weapon on the Island, your team wants to
kill all the Yankee Dogs there so that you can use this weapon later to ensure the
all die! The base is located on the North face of the Island on a hilltop.
5. Destroy the Power Supply
The Allies have restored the power to the Island, that can not stand! Located in
the South West is a Power Plant, go there and destroy the Turbines!
6. Disable the Water Supply
America, faced with extinction places priority on are foolishly restoring the water
supply! We must demoralize them by going to the north of the Island and destroy
the pumps!
7. Destroy Enemy Drone Controls
The Americans are spying on us, and taking out the Biological Weapons Piles!
We have to locate the drone at the weather station and take out it's controls!
It is located on the Eastern side of the Island near their cursed Radio Station!
8. Destroy the Enemy Radio Tower
The enemy is getting Air Drops because they are communicating from the Radio
Station, since you already on this side of the Island at this point, locate the
Radio Tower and kill their communications to stop their air support!
9. Arm the Nuke
It is time to win this war! Head back to the Military Base and use the Yankee's
own weapons against them! Arm the nuke by using the controls, all that will be
left for them is a zombie filled wasteland, No1Lives!
10. Escape the Island
A fishing boat lays in wait to take your team to a sub off the coast. The boat is
located at the docks on the North side of the Island. Get there and get out before
the timer counts down on the Nuke, and win, fail this and die a Hero for the
People!
Note: Your team must complete these objectives in order, you cannot complete them out of order.

In Game Merchants

There is a standing bounty on kills, 25.00 for each zombie, and 1,000.00 for the enemy. That money is used at one of the Merchants in game, spread through out the scenes, and allows you to purchase better weapons, ammo, and other items. You can visit them all you like. If killed they are gone, so try not to get them murdered!
Backpack and Inventory
The B key opens you Backpack, from which you can equip weapons that you pickup, or purchase from the Merchants. Your Inventory is tracked primarily from here. It handles primary, secondary, and melee weapons. Grenades and Health Injectors are tracked directly on screen to the right.
Interaction

There are a great number of interaction items in N1L, expect doors, ladders, vehicles, weapons, cabinets, ammo, health, and many more. Much of this is nearly automatic and built in, near an object that you can climb and hit the space bar and you will climb onto the object, Body Armor, Gas Mask, Landmines, and Drones are just a few of the things you can expect to find in game. You can acquire all the health injectors and grenades that you find, there is no limit. Though you are unlikely to find a large amount of grenades in any one location. Keep this all in mind as you play to assist in figuring all that is possible.
AI
There are a number of AI enemies, all out for your blood. Be cautious, many could pass for your own team.

Some might be an ally in specific situations, and it is not the intent of this guide to spoil all the mystery, so we won't. In time you will figure out who and when certain AI are on your side.
Remember though, the AI might not take you for friend, if they don't know any better,
For sake of game play we will list the main classifications of AI, their Health and some worthy notes.
Special Zombies, run fast, attract other zombies with their screaming, have faster than normal attacks, and have twice the health of a normal zombie.

Standard Zombies, have 100 health, and randomized attack and animation sequences. Note: they are fairly stupid.

AI Soldiers, have 100 health, use weapons as the player does, and often have a helmet that protects them from head shots.

AI Turrets, these are local to the Ally forces, and can be found to assist the Allies in specific situations.

Drones, are friend to no one except known AI soldier forces, beware, they are tough and both heavily armed and armored. With 2000 Health.

Crawling Corpses, are more of a nuisance than anything else, but they might catch you unaware in the dark, be very hard to see! They have 100 Health.

Updates!
Recent updates have seen the addition of many features, from Map Voting, to the addition of Lunatic Map (which has a single objective right now to kill the enemy and hold the prison for 30 minutes), added in Game Settings (on Esc. Key), fixed hundreds of bugs, gave the player a gun and ammo at start, and again when he is killed and re-spawned. Mini-Map (Now on all levels), F4 to open the Map Voting in game, F3 to open an in game FPS tracker so that you can open and modify your settings in game at the same time and optimize the game from within for yourself. A lot is going on with this game, and there are a lot of things planned for the near future. As always come talk with us on Discord if you have any questions or suggestions!
