Steam Level
Firstly, you'll want to be steam level 10 or higher, as at level 10 you unlock your first showcase section, unlocking an extra showcase slot after every following 10 levels. To earn a few points complete, the steam community badge.

From there, you'll need to craft badges using trading cards until your desired level. This could end up getting quite expensive depending on what colour and design you want your steam level to be and how many steam showcases you want to have on your account. Below is a view on the level colours and designs.

There are some cheap ways to level up and some quicker ways to level up but you will need to end up putting some money onto your account. But in the meantime, level 10 will be enough to start you off with customising your account!

The best way I know to level up your account cheap is to go to this website [steam.tools] , sign into your steam so that it can see what badges and cards you own and make sure the only options selected are Incomplete Badges, Game, Links, # Owned and Set price.

Then click on set price at the top to bring all of the cheapest badge sets up to the top. That way, you can see what badges are cheapest to make so you can level up the cheapest way.

Next to each game badge under links you'll see the letters B S M and E
B will take you to the page showing the badge and all of the cards in the badge.
S will take you to the store page for the game.
M will take you to the steam market and with all of the games trading cards.
E will take you to the steam card exchange website.
The only important ones to know here are B and M and use this tool to try and level yourself up!

Keep in mind before reaching your desired level you'll want to make sure you figure out how much XP your final badges will give you, and what level that will get you to as that will be important for the final look of your account. You can use This Website [steamlevelcalculator.com] to figure out how much XP you'll need to reach your desired level. More information on this under Badges in the guide index.
Profile background and Artwork Showcases
Now its time to figure out your profile theme. Retrowave? Noir? Steam has a huge selection of backgrounds to choose from that will help theme your profile. You can use This Website [steam.tools] to help you pick a steam background and search for it using the filters to buy from the steam market place or you can buy some animated background off the steam point store. This will set the main theme of your profile.

Once you have chosen your background you can start to theme your profile around it. I like to start off with some type of artwork showcase but be creative with it! just use the information here as a guide on things you can do with your profile and help give you ideas and let you know what you can do and how to do it!

If you are going to start of with a artwork show case and want to blend it into your background a good website to use is This One [steam.design]

Here you can sign into your steam profile and see all of the backgrounds in your steam inventory or click on backgrounds to find the background you are after. This will include an animated background you are after as well if you grabbed one off of the steam point shop.

Once you have chosen your background click on download zip to download all the different images you'll need for your artwork showcase.

If you are trying to download a animated background you'll be taken to this page (ignore this if you are not downloading a animated background) On this page all you need to do it select MP4 and then download.

Inside the Zip file you'll have these png/mp4 files
Artwork_Featured
Artwork_Middle
Artwork_Right_Top
Avatar

Make sure you extract these files into a new folder somewhere easy for you to find.

What you choose here depends on if you pick Artwork Showcase or Featured Artwork Showcase under your steam showcase. The difference is the Artwork Showcase Will have a bar down the right side of it where as the Featured Artwork Showcase will not.

This example is a little hard to see but you get the idea.

These next steps are the same no matter what one you chose. Just note that if you are going to pick the one one that is not the featured artwork showcase you'll need to do this step with Artwork_Middle and Artwork_Right_top where if you are doing the featured artwork showcase you will just pick Artwork_Featured.

Now you need to choose if you want this animated or not. If you do not want it animated just skip over the animation part. You can have a animated showcase with either the still background or the animated backgrounds. This will work either way. If your background is already animated you will also need to follow along.

You can choose to add in the animations yourself using whatever you want and you can export it as a MP4 or as a GIF. If you choose to export as a MP4 continue to follow along keep in mind that your file cannot be larger than 8MB.

These next steps can also help you if your file size ends up being too large to upload to steam.

An easy way to animate your showcase image is to use the website GIPHY. [giphy.com] Here just make an account and select create. You'll be taken to a new page, here just select GIF and upload your PNG or MP4 File if you choose MP4 just make sure you choose the max duration leave the starting point for the GIF.

Once you have selected the file you want use the tools available to create your own GIF to fit your theme. Add in your name or any text, GIFs or filters you want on your showcase. Once you have create your showcase, press continue to upload then upload to GIPHY.
Once it has uploaded to GIPHY click on share make sure 10MB is selected then copy the share link.

Once you have copied the link for your GIF go to This Website [ezgif.com] paste the link where it says paste image URL then press upload.

Once the GIF has been uploaded, change the height to 1240 then press resize image.

Once the GIF has been resized scroll down the page to the bottom of the newly made gif and at the bottom it should say File size: then the file size next to it. If it is larger than 8MB Then slick on the button that says optimize and play around with that until it makes a GIF that has a file size smaller than 8MB.

Once it has been optimized and resized right click the GIF and save it or drag and drop it onto your desktop. If you are doing this with the artwork showcase that has the middle and the top right make sure you do these same steps for both of them.

TIME TO UPLOAD THE IMAGES TO YOUR ARTWORK SHOWCASE

Now that you have got your GIFs/PNGs ready its time to upload them!

To upload these images to your artwork showcase you will need to use steam on your web browser. This will not work through the steam client unfortunately.

To upload the artwork go to this link https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/edititem/767/3/
This link is a slightly different steam artwork showcase upload to make it better for uploading long artworks.

Once you are there name the artwork whatever you want. Just keep in mind the game will be seen underneath your showcase so using a . or just having a clean name would be preferable. Once you have chosen a name upload the artwork as well then check the I certify that I created this artwork box at the bottom. DO NOT SAVE AND CONTINUE YET

Once you have finished doing that right click on the page and select inspect element. In the window that shows up click on console and paste in this code

document.getElementsByName("image_width")[0].value = 999999;document.getElementsByName("image_height")[0].value = 1;

then press enter

Press save and continue

Once your artwork showcase has uploaded its time to add it onto your profile.
To do this go onto your steam profile and click edit profile. Once you are there go to featured showcase and under the top showcase in the drop down menu change it to either Featured Artwork Showcase or Artwork Showcase. Whichever one you had chosen.

Depending on what you choose you'll be at one of 2 different screens. Your art is just going to look like thin black bars. Make sure you select the right image. For anyone using the artwork showcase the middle goes into the big box and the right top goes in the top right box.

Artwork Showcases (Extended)
For all artwork showcases you want to display you can use the same steps as before for uploading longer and animated artworks for either the artwork showcase or the featured artwork showcase to help bring a little more life to your profile.
Avatar and Steam point shop
For your steam avatar this is completely up to you of course but some things to keep in mind are to try and keep your avatars colour scheme the same as your profile colour scheme. If you want as well in the zip file the avatar PNG as the name suggests has a section of the background cut out in the right spot so you can put a simple logo in the middle of it, upload it and have it so that it lines up with your profile background!

Also to utilise the point shop! there are some amazing animated avatars in there as well as really cool avatar borders and mini profile backgrounds to use to make your profile look unique even when someone hovers over your name in your steam friends list!

Achievement Showcase
With your achievement showcase there are a lot of interesting things you can do. You can find games that achievements when lined together make a image. Or even just games that the achievements are just letters and symbols for you to use. Here is an example of what you can do.

Here I'll show you some games that have letter achievements that you can use to spell out what you want on your profile.

Honestly there are so many to list it will take me forever to list them all. If you don't like any of these take a look around and try and find something you like. Remember that it also doesn't have to be letters. There are also games with nice looking achievements you can post as well you'll just need to look around!
Workshop Showcase
Now we will be going over uploading workshop showcases that look nice for your profile. I'll be going over how to upload animated workshop showcases as well as workshop showcases that are longer than the normal square.

First what you'll want to do is search for a workshop showcase you would want to display an easy way to find pre made animated workshop showcases is to search workshop showcase in DeviantArt.

Once you have found and downloaded the workshop showcase images you want to display on your profile it should be a file with 5 images or gifs in it. The length can be as long as you want just as long as all the images you have are the same size.

Now we need to modify the gif files (if you're not using a gif you can skip this step)

You will need to go to this website Here [hexed.it]
Once you are on this website you want to upload the first section of the GIF by clicking open file finding the image and then uploading it.

Once you have uploaded the gif all of the 00 on the page should fill up with numbers and letters. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Once you have done that you'll see a + and to the left of it a number or number and letter. Click on it and change whatever is there to 21.

Do this same thing to every gif for the workshop showcase.

Once you have finished this for each gif all we need to do it upload it
To upload you need to go to this link https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/edititem/767/3/ its important you use this link as it will allow you to upload the artwork as a workshop item.
Once you are here upload the first part of the showcase name it and check the box to certify that it is your artwork but do not click save and continue.

Now right click on the page and go inspect element then click on console. When you are in console put this in the press enter (don't worry about this if your image is the standard square).

$J('[name=consumer_app_id]').val(480);$J('[name=file_type]').val(0);$J('[name=visibility]').val(0);

Once you do that then you can save and continue.

Repeat this for every image for the workshop showcase.

Once you have done that its time to make showcase it. Just add a new showcase and choose the workshop showcase and in each square choose the right part of the GIF for that section of the workshop showcase. If done correctly it should something like this.

Badges
Badges are pretty straight forward. Badges are crafted with trading cards. They give you XP which goes towards your steam level. But badges are also a good way to help pull the theme of your account together. First there is the Featured Badge which you can change under edit profile on your account.

The second thing you can do is make sure your most recent badges that you have crafted are the theme of your profile. You used to be able to have 4 slots that would be available to fill up but that have added community badged that stay in the first 2 slots now and you can only fill the other 2 slots.

There are a lot of different badges on steam that you can craft. Use this guide this amazing person made showing a bunch of different badged in a colour order to make it easy for you to pick which badges you'd like to display https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=861969585

With your recent badges you'll need to remember that each badge gives you 100xp so if there is a particular level you want to stop levelling your account on for whatever reason just make sure that you allow for how ever much xp you will gain while trying to craft whatever the last 2 badges are. If both of the last badges and level 5 badges that will be a total of 1000xp you'll need to account for!
