Introduction
This walkthrough is for Dark Mystery, the indie platformer game that has a dark and gloomy feel to it. As a game it is not likely to get a lot of replay value, but it's graphic design is very creative.

This is one of the screenshots provided on the store page.

This game does have a demo that you can download before actually purchasing the game. To get to the demo, just get to the Dark Mystery store page and look for the download demo button as shown below.

The demo just gives you a feel for the game. If you purchase it before trying the demo, please don't complain about wasting your money on it! In all honesty, I'm sure 99% of the people that read this guide actually have zero experience in game development, and I for one can say it's not as easy as you may think.

This guide gets you started on playing the game and understanding the controls, but before you scroll down, please note that you may need to press ctrl + f4 to exit the game when you are ready to leave. No option to exit the game exists on the main menu.

Ratings are appreciated!

The Graphics
For a game that's just another platformer, Dark Mystery is really creative in the darker animation it uses throughout the 35 levels of game play. Most of the animation is in the backdrop, but on you'll see animated creatures in your path as well.

This is another screenshot shown on the store page.

At first launch, you will see a configuration menu on your desktop. This allows you to set your graphical preferences before launching the game. This should be fairly straight forward, but don't miss that input tab! That goes into the controls, as shown in the next section.

This cropped screenshot shows the graphics tab on the desktop configuration window.

Please note the check box for windowed mode. It should go into windowed mode if you check the box, but if left alone it goes into full screen mode for the dimensions it is set at. Personally, I rarely play in windowed mode.
The Controls
The few posts I have seen in the discussions for this game are centered around the controls. The way this game is configured at launch is something that older generations are used to, so I wanted to give kids a chance at enjoying this game as well. What likely happened for users confused about the controls is... they skipped the configuration.

This is another screenshot from the store page.

So on the input tab you see a long list of controls by scrolling down. The list is so long that it makes scrolling through the tiny menu awkward. I created a table form of the list itself and moved it to the next section.

This cropped screenshot shows the input tab on the desktop configuration window.

Please note, as you see under the input window, this is where you would change any of the settings for the controls. This is where you would switch aswd keys to arrow keys or vice versa, and hope that it works.
The Controls, Tabled.
As I mentioend in the pervious section, I created a table listing all of the default controls here.
You should be able to access this in game by using the steam overlay. If you made changes to the inputs, you won't see those changes here.

This is yet another screenshot from the store page.

For ease of reference, I created a table that shows all of the default inputs. Obviously, there are a lot of joystick settings that you will likely never use...

I should also note that even though it shows you should be using the aswd keys for movement, my laptop wanted me to use the arrow keys instead. So that might be a bug that you experience.

There is no double jump listed. You can do a double jump by pressing space twice. It's tricky though, so you may want to try it out before running the first map.
Achievements
This game has a low achievement count of 8 achievements. It is ideal for those completionists out there that want to get more completed games on their list. The first achievement is unlocked simply by getting through the first map. I may work on this section more later, but acquiring them seems fairly straight forward.

Sources and Shoutouts
I give credit where credit is due!

I created the avatar image by cropping an in game screenshot. Most of the screenshots above were taken within the Dark Mystery game itself. I also used screenshots from the store page throughout the guide.

The desktop screenshots used in The Graphics and The Controls sections shows a "Black Cat" wallpaper found on Wallpaper Engine that may be copyrighted, so I'm giving that author a shout out. That author is Bewiee on Steam. Since the Dark Mystery game has a dark theme, I thought the wallpaper was fitting. The screenshot doesn't do it justice, as the Cat's Eyes actually follow the mouse around while you are using it.

Last but not least, I used OneNote on Windows 10 to effortlessly create the table for The Controls section. It's great having decent software for this sort of thing.
Another First!
This game had no other guides associated with it at the time I decided to publish one. Although it appears this game is also on other platforms, it doesn't get much attention on Steam. The game developer, Yash Future Tech Solutions Pvt L, has other titles as well.
