Magnificent Custom Stories You May Have Overlooked + EXTRAS

Cry of Fear features a few custom stories available via respective option in main menu. However, most of them are either way too short and poorly executed or their development has been shut down so you won't be able to receive gameplay experience you had expected. Nevertheless, there are at least 2 fully completed and splendid CCs you can play, although they are not present in the game, so you have to download them and install by yourself.

The Scrolls of Shaimoon 2.0

Aforementioned description is pretty much comprehensive. From my point of view, this is the most unique and interesting custom campaigns, easily deserves 10/10. Note: Scrolls of Shaimoon is already present in the game, but it features an early 1.4 version of the CC. According to its creator, version 2.0 is fully complete, whereas 1.4 is still just an unfinished demo.

How to install:

• Go to mod page and download it.
  
• Place all of the files from the TSoS folder in "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Cry Of Fear\cryoffear"
  
• Click "Yes" when asked if overwrite.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia is basically a set of references to classic video games like Wolfenstein, Metal Gear and etc. embodied in a form of Cry of Fear custom story. To be honest, it may be a bit tricky, especially when it comes to platforming. Anyway, thanks to uniqueness of this CC it definitely can have a loyal audience.

How to install:

• Go to mod page and download it.
  
• Place all of the files in "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Cry Of Fear\cryoffear"

Extras and Conclusion

Cry of Fear modified GFX VGUI
This addon replaces some of the existing VGUI in the 1.6 Cry of Fear Custom Campaigns to slightly better ones. How to install:

• Go to mod page and download it.
  
• Extract "CoF_ReplacedVGUI.rar" anywhere.
  
• Go to your Cry of Fear installation folder.
  
• Find the "cryoffear" folder.
  
• Copy/Cut the extracted "gfx" in there and overwrite when asked.

Its a shame that CoF modding community didnt take off as hard as Amnesia modding copmmunity but still ty for recommendations

Not really. There was plenty of community campaign projects started, but none of them was finished properly except those mentioned in the article. There is, however, a decent (from a technical point of view) mod by Valeriy Sitnikov entitled Cry of Fear: Epilogue. Personally, I didn't enjoy playing it, but you can give it a try.
