Hitman 2: Silent Assassin Slow Motion/High FPS Fix
By GL ⨯ Paradise
Hello folks,

I already have a post on how to fix this issue, but figured I would make this guide so it's more obvious to people.

So if you're like me with a decent PC that can handle new games pretty well but you've wanted to play Silent Assassin for the good old memories from when you were a kid only to get 3000 fps and the game constantly going into like.. slow motion.. well oof

After a bit of digging in the local files since Hitman 2 doesn't have vsync in the options and for some reason trying to cap it with the nvidia control panel didn't work for me..

Right click on Silent Assassin in your Steam Library and go to the local files and from there open Hitman2.ini

At the top you will see DrawDLL most likely set to D3D.
Delete D3D and set it to OpenGL :) DrawDll RenderOpenGL.dll (You can copy and paste this in the ini and delete the old line)

And all you have to do now is.. HAVE FUN!

Dude, thanks so much! Awesome to be able to play some of the older Hitman games, seems like they're quality, if a bit janky.

Sorry to hear.. I guess it doesn't work for everyone.. You can always try the other route with capping the fps from nvidia *shrugs*

I just say that Afterburned is a good decision because it blocks your CPU frames, not only GPU. So if you limit both, you'll have a more stable game.
For me... I was really surprised.. 2002 year game engine works better than most of today's AAA engines :D
Just set windowed mode and 1080p, and it plays as a modern game

If that works for YOU that's great. The whole point of this is so you don't have to use third-party software to cap your FPS when you can just edit a configuration file :)
