Lacuna - 100% Achievement Guide

All the information you need to know to obtain every achievement in Lacuna.

Intro

Welcome detective.

This guide offcourse contains spoilers but you can expect that when going for all the trophies. The most sensitive information is marked with the spoiler tag.

It requires at least 8 playthroughs to get all trophies, mainly for Enter the Multiverse. At least, because you might need some extra for Shortcuts (keep note of your actions, consequenses and routes). Also, you cannot get the following trophies in the same run; Good Cop and Bad Cop, Chunky Boi and Happy Boi, Chain Smoker and Healthy Lifestyle, Is This The Right Thing? and Or Is This The Right Thing?.

There is a Lost evidence section at the bottom for some extra information.

Story Achievements

These 4 are obtained as you progress through the game. You will also get 1/8 on Enter the Multiverse when you have a unique ending.

Jorus Plaza

Complete the first act

Corion Church

Complete the second act.

Rescue Mission

Complete the third act.

Will It Have Mattered?

Tell your story.

Finish the game.

Enter the Multiverse

Tell all stories.

Get all 8 endings. When playing the game you make a lot of decicions, it starts right after the prologue, when you get a call and meet Gary at the villa but the different endings are decided in one of the last scenes of the game. Once you submit The Data sheet (wrong or right) and then confront Saito (force him or tell the CDI) you then go save Laura. Your standing with Zora will be the last decider. Zora's standing is decided by choices you make when you meet her (be with or against her, see tips below for details).

This will give you 2x2x2 endings.

Some tips for getting good standing with Zora.

• Use your login to hack
  
• Tell her she want a new life with Boyt
  
• Agree to deliver a message to Boyt
  
• When interviewing Boyt deliver the message
  
• Submit the Moore's motive sheet correctly
  
• Have a beer with Zora and let her know about the plans the second time you meet her
  
• Ask if she is trying to comfort you third time you meet
  
• Agree with her again

Note that not all of these actions may be necessary, but with these steps you are sure that Zora will support you when needed. Do the opposite of these actions for bad standing.

Matching Description

Catch the sniper unharmed.

Submit Banny's murderer sheet correctly (see Master Investigator), the trophy will pop after the fountain scene.

Crisis Averted

Catch the bomber.

Submit The broadcast sheet correctly (see Master Investigator) and then catch Moore in the church attic.

A Little Justice Served

Catch the mastermind.

Submit The Liberators sheet correctly (see Master Investigator) and then arrest Dyson in the train.

Is This The Right Thing?

Try to start a war.

Submit The data sheet correctly (see Master Investigator) and leak the data to the reporter.

Or Is This The Right Thing?

Try to prevent a war.

Submit The data sheet correctly (see Master Investigator) and do not leak the data to the reporter (hang up).

Chonky Boi

Serve up lots of insects.

You can't miss your green iguana pet in your apartment, feed Horace 3 times to get this trophy.

Happy Boi

Serve up lots of love.

Pet Horace 3 times to get this trophy.

Chain Smoker

Punish your lungs.

Smoke at least 10 cigarettes (or more) during the game. You can smoke multiple cigarettes at various locations (e.g. at your apartment balcony and next to musicians), just make sure to smoke 10 (or more) before submitting The Liberators sheet (this is your last time in your apartment). Also don't forget to buy the cigarettes, so you don't run out. The trophy will pop when you enter the finale.

Healthy Lifestyle

Be the good kind of quitter.

Just don't smoke when the game gives you the opportunity. There are a few times in the story where Neil smokes one out of your control, but those don't count. You can also offer Cat a smoke on the roof, it does not void the trophy. The trophy will pop when you enter the finale.

Groupie

Show some appreciation for the music.

Stand next to musicians for about 1 minute (and work on Chain Smoker while you are there).
You can do this in Matuna Residences when you first get there. Make sure you walk all the way up to the musicians to "listen".



If you missed the opportunity to get the achievement during the first visit of Matuna Residences, you can get it when you return there for the second (and last) time. The band will be on the left side of the top level.

Good Cop

Be nice and de-escalate.

The game tracks a bunch of dialog choices where you can be either aggressive or agreeable. For this trophy make sure to do all of the following agreeable options and submit Diaz's escape sheet correctly (otherwise you will skip the Canal level);

* Go easy on the guards in the Villa (to Gary and when getting the keys to the cabinet)
* Easy on Ms. Norton in the Hotel (do not shoot her drone)
* Cut the bartender some slack (do not let Gary arrest her)
* Don't lie to Ed about Rob
* Don't lie to Rob about not being police
* Help Ed with his harbot spot
* Help Lila with her boss, and help her boss (Thompson) with Sheila
* Help Sheila, don't make her go back to Thompson

The trophy should pop after you tell Gary about the Chief (or not).

If you still don't have it by now, continue the story until you get a call to go to the harbor (it's past the train station to the left). Don't walk past the guard to investigate the boat, instead go back up and walk to the Red Herring all the way to the top-left, go inside and talk to the bartender. Ask if he knows Ed and how much a harbor spot is, then pay for Ed's spot.

Bad Cop

Nobody can stand in your way.

Opposite to Good Cop, it's now cooperate or consequences... For this trophy make sure to do all of the following aggressive options and submit Diaz's escape sheet correctly;

* Punish the guards (agree with Gary about them being lunatics and don't go easy on them when getting the key to the cabinet)
* Shoot Ms. Norton's drone
* No slack for the bartender in the Hotel (let Gary arrest her)
* Lie to Ed about Rob
* Lie to Rob about being police
* Do not help Ed with his harbor spot (and say you can arrest him)
* Help Lila with her boss Thompson (threaten him with court order once, then refuse to help him (twice), threaten him again and he will then tell all the information)
* If you didn't threaten Thompson for the information then go to Sheila and force her to go back to Thompson to fill her contract (note it's easier to threaten Thompson and skip this part, it's a long walk too)
* You now tell Gary about the Chief (or not)
* When going back to the train station you get a call to go to the harbor (it's past the train station to the left).

Don't walk past the guard to investigate the boat! You can NOT go further on the boat and explore it, if you do you exit the harbor automatically and can't go to the Red Herring.

Instead go back from the guard and up the stairs, walk to the Red Herring all the way to the top-left, go inside and talk to the bartender. Ask if he knows Ed and how much a harbor spot is, you then get an opportunity to pay for Ed, don't pay (way to expensive) and leave.
The trophy should pop when you leave the harbor.

Master Investigator

Demonstrate your sleuthing skills.

Submit all sheets correctly, see answers below. You need to do this in a single playthrough.

Rescued

Bring her home.

Save Laura. Don't let her get taking away again.. There are 6 endings where you can get this so it should be no problem. The trophy will pop after you finish the game (wait for the credits).

Reunited At Last

Get the girl.

Get reunited with Catherine. Make sure you give her attention, e.g. talk to her when you get the opportunity and don't be harsh with her., the trophy will pop after you finish the game (wait for the credits).

Consumer

Listen to the corporate overlords.

Stand infront of an eye-level advertisement for about 2 minutes. You can't miss the ad's, you can do this anytime when leaving the train station.

Couch Potato

Catch a break.

Sit for at least 20 minutes on a chair or couch (you can do this at your apartment early, or later at the Villa or AdSpot building).

She's Got A Point

Come to the dark side.

Cooperate with Zora every time you meet.

The first time you meet on the balcony of your apartment, there you have to agree with Zora on everything, give Gary's login, and propose to deliver the message to Boyt.

The second time you will meet in the market. Follow her, agree to all Zora's questions, tell her about the terrorist attack that is being prepared, deliver a message from Boyt, drink a beer.

The third time you meet in the church (the next location after the market). All the answer options should work, but to be sure, save the guard by lying to him (say you lost your Bawas) and tell Zora that Moore is not the culprit, but someone is behind all this.

The fourth time you meet again right after that in the apartment. You have to agree with everything again, and after the last "I Agree" the main character will say "you got a point".

After that, go to sleep, and the achievement will be given after saving.

Hello? Anyone there?

Don't touch controls for 1 minute, you must be standing for this one.

Shortcuts

Cut corners wherever possible. Literally.

Finish the game with the least steps possible. After you finish the game a few times and know what the consequences of your decisions are, you can figure this out. e.g.;
* Ignore optional objectives (talking to Cat, Laura or the Chief)
* Learn what evidence triggers progress in the story and when you have the option to submit a sheet, so you don't take unnecessary steps looking around
* When going home, make sure to exit the train station to the right (opens up a bit after Act I) before that there are yellow cones and a fence that block you
* You can threat Thompson with a court order so you don't have to help (and walk to) Sheila
* Submit Diaz's escape sheet wrong and you skip the Canal level
* Submit The broadcast sheet wrong and you skip to walk to the restaurant
* Submit The data sheet wrong and tell the CDI when talking to Saito before the hack, this way you get dropped of near the handover point and do not have to walk from the station

You can check your in game phone to see how many steps you have done.
Maximum steps for this trophy is 5200.

Lost evidence

This might come in handy.

• The correct boat id is 220190, but try not to use it in a run for the Good Cop or Bad Cop trophies as it might not allow you to go the the Red Herring to pay (or not pay) for Ed's spot.
  
• To get in the church easy, lie and say you lost your Bawas. I think you need to talk to the priest in the Villa earlier to get this option
  
• When you interview Gonzalez, after checking the evidence, use these dialog choices;

  • you support independence
• When you interview Cox, after checking the evidence, use these dialog choices;

  • The save files are in /Users/<your username>/AppData/LocalLow/DigiTales Interactive/Lacuna/saves/
    The numbered folders (0, 1, 2) represent the 3 saves in the game, copy a numbered folder as backup so you can re-use it later for other endings.

This way you can also submit everything correctly and get both the Good Cop / Bad Cop acheivment without wasting a whole bunch of steps. Although it is still advised that you avoid optional objectives when doing this.
I'd slso say that this whole thing is a waste of good playtime, but you do you, and I do I. And I am absolutely nuts

I'm just trying out a run where I exclusively do this, and apparently you can slide down some diagonal stairs if you're precice enough. (I'm typing this as I'm enetring the hotell with only 149 steps taken, most of them being from Neil walking out of my controll, and some because I'm clubsy or vertical stairs not letting me tap my way to them).

Pro tip: you tan tap very lightly on w-a-s-d to move Neil, yet not take any steps, this can save a bunch of steps, just about all if you're consistant enough and know where to standas to not trigger cutscene steps. Yes, the steps in cutscenes and when you stand in the wrong place when interacting with something (which will automatically move neil to the right place) do count towards your total step count.

I never got the option to deliver a message to Boyt, but it did not matter. Got the achievement anyway.

I read through here, got a savegame and also looked at the devs guide on the endings. I tried hard to get my last two missing ones. Even got the 6th ending with the save but the last ones just don´t work for me.
