== Getting it to work on Dark Souls II ==
  • You do not need to install the Logitech Gaming Software for it to work on Windows 7.
  • You must use XInput instead of Direct Input. See the image below for finding the button.
  • Because you use XInput, the Logitech Gaming Software won't allow you to calibrate it anyway.

== Input Delay ==
There is an input delay for the left analog stick. They probably didn't port the game properly. Why this is an issue? Making jump attacks and guard breaks are near impossible and extremely unreliable because of it. There is also no option in the game to reconfigure these controls.
Some other controllers also have this issue but it does not happen to everyone.

== Workaround ==
Press the [Mode] button (below the [Select] button) and use the D-pad instead. I know, it's terribly bad for movement. But playing the game without guard breaks and jump attacks puts you at a serious disadvantage for both PVE and PVP.

DO NOT edit the gamefiles to fix this problem. I know it can be fixed but they'll ban you for it.

Alternatively you could buy the Microsoft XBox 360 controller (for PC). That controller seemed to work for me. I used the wired one if that matters.
According to "Wasp Soul" plugging in a 360 controller and then switching back to your Logitech controller fixes the bug as well. We're not sure but perhaps the Logitech still works if you can somehow get the 360 drivers installed on your system.

== Customer Support ==
I sent a polite e-mail to their customer support via the offical route asking for help about the input delay issues. But they never got back to me. I only got an automated reply stating "Thank you for your e-mail"...

I stream, and for a YEAR viewers have been giving me crap about my inability to guard break. I kept complaining the kick never worked right, I'd sit there and do it the same way 50 times in a row and get it to work maybe 2-3. I thought I was just awful. I wish I'd found this a year ago, I never would've bought this controller. I've played nearly 500 hours now between DS1/2/3, and however frustrating its been I've just kept going. I cannot BELIEVE this, its blowing my mind right now.

So glad I found this, upvoted, tossing this controller and getting a real name brand one today. TODAY. THANK YOU FOR THIS

Lol I just fixed it myself before reading this (switching mode), thanks for confirming it though

+1 for the mode trick, glad someone else posted about it. If you can get used to the disorientation that comes with switching on the fly, doing it only when you want to do the specific attacks will allow more precision than just permanently using the d-pad to move.

Got an F510. Getting guard breaks while justpracticing is completely random. Tbh, it's not really a great disadvantage as most people will parry or backstab you in the game, but still would be nice to be able to execute those moves.

Yes the timing got more precise in DS2. So perhaps it's not the controller but the drivers then. So for some reason DS2 doesn't handle the Logitech drivers properly. So maybe other people can get it to work if they can get their hands on the 360 drivers somehow. Thanks for sharing.

I ended up buying a wired xbox controller today. It installed new drivers onto the system. Definitely easier with jump attacks. Out of curiosity, I plugged the Logitech back in after this and lo and behold, jump attacks are a lot easier. I am assuming the xbox controllers drivers have overridden the Logitech drivers.

What also helps me for jump attacks is pushing the left stick up a bit then moving to click it and the r2 button simultaneously. It's working well for me so far. Guard breaks don't seem to give me issues. The fact still remains however, that it's not as easy to jump attack with a controller as it was in Dark Souls 1.

Some people also experience this problem on the dualshock. So it could be all Logitech controllers. But then again, I'm not sure because I don't have one myself. Namco only seemed to bother making it compatible for the 360 and any other controller is just pure luck I guess. But if JUST the jump atk/guard breaks are 'random' then yeah you probably have this problem as well on the F710.

I'm using the F710. Jump attacks are really random. The guard break move I'm more successful with. I'm assuming this controller would be having a similar issue?

I was having a hard time figuring out why guard break and jumping were so difficult to perform. The mode thing seems to help so thank you for this guide.
