Alien Swarm

Plot Summary -
You and a team of four other Marines fight hordes of aliens in various areas in outer space. the aliens include the Drones, Boomers (not the L4D ones), Mortar Bugs, and Shield Bugs. (There could be more, as there is so much cut content) You get a variety of weapons, some that you start with, others you gain throughout, such as bombs, flamethrowers, and miniguns.

Rating -
5/10 - Not a lot of useful content to use in Garry's Mod, unless you want a few neat alien models to mess around with, which is a totally viable option.
Counter-Strike: Source

Summary -
You and a group of team mates fight a group of terrorists (or Counter-Terrorists), using a variety of weapons (all real world weapons). Other than a pistol and a knife, all other weapons must be bought with money earned at the end of each round. Maps include Bomb Defusal, in which the Terrorists plant C4 at a specific part of the map, and the Counter-Terrorists must then defuse it. The other gamemode is Hostage Rescue, in which the Terrorists hold a group of people hostage, and the CTs must save them. There are many community Gamemodes, which I won't mention, as they don't come with the base game.

Rating -
10/10 - This game is the most needed if you want to play Garry's Mod. It has many custom textures which mod makers utilize a lot. It also comes with a lot of fun maps, such as Millitia, Dust2, Office, Tides, and so on.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Summary -
Same as Counter-Strike Source, but with higher quality models, new maps, new weapons, and new gamemodes, such as Arms Race and Danger Zone.

Rating -
7/10 - while I would have given this a better rating, this game, along with Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, are fairly buggy in GMod (This only applies to the maps, the models are fine). this is because these three games run on a newer version of Source than Garry's Mod. Still a good game, and I would recommend mounting it.
Day of Defeat: Source

Summary -
Takes place during WWII, in which you play as either the Allied or Axis powers. all maps are based on battle that took place during WWII. The main game modes are Bomb Planting (as Allies, plant bombs on Axis devices) and Capture Point (As both sides, capture specific points on the map). Iconic weapons such as the M1 Garand and MG42 are used in this game

Rating -
9/10 - I would recommend this game if you want WWII models in a Half-Life 2 style. Many new models are included. Not many new textures, though this is not a problem.
Dino D-Day
Summary -
You play as Allied or Axis Powers, but this time with the help of Dinosaurs. The Allies get Trigger, a Protoceratops (Had to find the wiki for that one) with machine gun on her back. The Axis get the Velicoraptor, Dilophosaurus, T-Rex, Microraptor, and many more. In addition the the many weapons seen previously in Day of Defeat: Source, Dino D-day has a few extras, such as the Jackrabbit, used as bait for the raptors by the Allies.

Rating -
6/10 - Not a needed game to have fun in Gmod, but a welcome one. The game includes an array of Dinosaur models. Most maps are very dino dday specific, so they are a bit more situational than DOD:S's or CS:S's maps. All around a good game.
Half-Life: Source (and Half-Life Deathmatch: Source)
Summary -
You arrive late to work as Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist. Gordon is tasked with pushing a cart into the Anti-Mass Spectrometer, all very simple. Disaster strikes, however, as The experiment causes a resonance cascade, bringing with it alien life from the border-world "Xen." Gordon fights his way through Black Mesa with the help of his HEV suit and a crowbar. (Same story as the original Half-Life, no changes at all) HL:S is mostly just an engine improvement for Half-Life. While HL:S by itself is not a great game, It is much better when GMod is added to the mix.

Rating -
9/10 - While HL:S is not great, it does bring the majority of Half-Life to the Source engine, which is great for Garry's Mod. Garry's Mod includes ALL of Half-Life: Source's weapons, npcs, maps, and models when you mount the game, which is the best treatment of any game ever added to gmod. Definitely worth the mount.

DM:S Rating -
2/10 - While I had great things to say about HL:S, HLDM:S is the opposite. It includes and of HL:S's models, which is useless if you already have HL:S. It includes the original Half-Life's Deathmatch's maps and player models, which is useful if you want those maps, but otherwise, not worth mounting.
Half-Life 2
Summary -
After the events of Half-Life 1, Gordon is taken out of stacis by the Gman, and wakes up in a city ruled by the alien empire known as the Combine. Gordon meets old friends as well as new ones, as well as new enemies. (Thats all I'll tell you, it is really worth your time to play this game)

Rating -
6/10 - "Why so low?" Garry's Mod includes all of Half-Life 2's Content to begin with, so there are no new models included if you mount Half-Life 2 to Garry's Mod, though all of Half-Life 2's Maps are included, which are useful in many cases. Worth the mount, mostly.
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast & Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

LC Summary -
In a cut area from Half-Life 2, Gordon awakes in St. Olga, a coastal town governed by the Combine. He meets a fisherman, who tells him to shut down a Combine gun in the church. Gordon succeeds, and the game ends.

Rating -
5/10 - the textures and models included in Lost Coast are not useful in many cases, though it can be fun to mess around in the lost coast map.

DM Summary -
You play as the resistance or the combine, and fight is various locations seen in Half-Life 2. The game uses all of Half-Life 2's weapons, as well as the Stunstick and S.L.A.M as a bonus.

Rating -
4/10 - Mounting HL2:DM is not worth it, as there are no new models or textures added (other than the S.L.A.M) You can easily mount all of the maps yourself with no errors at all. this may save file space, as GMod already has the SLAM in it, so you only need to mount the Deathmatch maps, rather than the whole game.
Half-Life 2: Episode One
Summary -
Takes place after the events of Half-Life 2, and has Gordon and Alyx making their way out of City 17 before the Combine Citadel collapses, resulting in a City-leveling explosion.

Rating -
7/10 - there are only a few new models, and many new textures, added with this game. when mounted, the "Zombine" npc will be added to Garry's Mod automatically.
Half-Life 2: Episode Two
Summary -
Following the events of Episode 1, Gordon and Alyx make their way to White Forest base. Many new enemies show up in this game, such as antlion workers and combine hunters.

Rating -
10/10 - you get many new textures, many new models, including the gnome prop that everyone loves using in their maps. absolutely worth the mount.
Left 4 Dead
Summary -
Francis, Lois, Bill, and Zoey, all people of different backgrounds, find themselves in the same situation: A zombie apocalypse. The group makes their way through swarms of infected individuals, each fallen safe spot leading to the next. The journey is made harder by the special infected, such as the Tank, Hunter, Smoker, Boomer, and Witch. There are two gamemodes, campaign/ singleplayer (Play as the survivors vs bot infected) or VS mode (Play as the Boomer, Smoker, Hunter, or Tank).

Rating -
9/10 - This game includes many common prop types, which all have a "Half-Life 2" sort of feel, which can make them useful. Includes all maps as well. Mostly worth it.
Left 4 Dead 2
Summary -
same as the first game, but with new survivors (Coach, Rochelle, Ellis, and Nick) as well as new special infected (Charger, Spitter, and Jockey).

Rating -
6/10 - Includes more models than L4D1, but the L4D2 maps in Garry's Mod are fairly broken, simmilar to CS:GO and Portal 2 (All of which run on a newer version of Source, so bugs were to be expected). Mostly worth it.
Portal
Summary -
You are a test subject named Chell, who is run through a series of tests by an AI named GLaDOS. The tests are based around the use of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, a weapon that can create connected portals for easy travel through long distance. The AI promises cake upon the test's completion.

Rating -
9/10 - One of the least broken mounts to Garry's Mod. Many new textures, models, and maps. though sadly the portal gun is not included as a working weapon in-game, there are many portal gun addons on Gmod's workshop.
Portal 2
Summary -
Following the events of Portal, Chell awakens in the enrichment center hundreds of years later, and meets a personality core named Wheatley. Wheatley awakens GLaDOS after her death in Portal, Wheatley is seemingly killed by GLaDOS (but is later revealed to be alive), and GLaDOS and Chell continue testing.

Rating -
6/10 - While the maps are easily the most broken ones in all of Garry's Mod, it is still not a bad mount. While Left 4 Dead 2 had many untextured models, Portal 2 did not seem to have that issue. Not a great port, but still worth it.
Team Fortress 2
Summary -
Play as 9 Mercenaries (Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Sniper, Medic, and Spy) who fight against an opposing team in a vibrant, cartoon-y styled world. Gamemodes include Capture the Flag, Capture Point, Payload, King of the Hill, Mann vs Machine, and Halloween Boss fights (Which can happen on Halloween maps).

Rating
10/10 - Adds a TON of additional content, including all of the maps, models, and textures. While it is 20 GB, it is worth it.
The Stanley Parable
You play as Stanley, the average guy, who works an office desk job where he pushes buttons. One day, all of his coworkers suddenly vanish, and a voice start narrating the situation. Stanley is given a choice of what to do. Maybe he finds out that he has gone crazy. Maybe he frees everyone. Maybe he does absolutely nothing. the choice is yours.

Rating -
9/10 - while it runs on Portal 2's version of Source, the difference is very noticeable (as in the maps are not broken). In addition to TSP's own models, you also get the Dallas Mask for Payday 2 as a prop, as well as many models from Minecraft. The Stanley Parable has it's own testchmb_a_00, which conflicts with Portal's map. In order to sucessfully have both at the same time, you must port the map itself, but name it something different (ex. stanleyparable_testchmb_a_00). I did this, and it worked fine, and I had both The Stanley Parable's version, as well as Portal's version.
