this guide is A comprehensive review of everything in Aerena and will cover the launcher, the menu, the shop, the profile page, the chat, the games, the bots, the campions, the shell generator, and more.

Getting started: the launcher
Once you click play on Aerena, you should get a launcher like this:
the LauncherFrom here, you can do several things:

1. you can change the size (resolution). by deafut, it is set to 640 X 480, this will be a relitivly small window and you can change this, although I like it and leave it alone personally. First, look up your screen reolution, for windows this can be done using Start, conrol panel, display, Screen resolution. you should get a window looking like this:Dat Res Screen For simplicity I have circled the screen resolution here. Next, click the drop down menu and set it to your Res, like so:fixing the res! Now, your Aerena will be the same size as your screen! click Play. Wait! you might get something filling your screen, but covered by the menu bar! like this: Huston, we have badness It would apear that we have not unchecked the windowed box!, do so and your Aerena will run full screen.

2. Graphics Quality: I have it set to fantastic (deafult) but you could make it be beautiful if you like, for this guide, I have not.

3. Controls: by changing tabs you can edit you controls in this screen, I have circled the tabs for you: Controls by deafult it has wasd, arrows and joystick control, I will look at them later(maybe).

4. Play the game! just click play and you will begin, just remember to change everything you need to becasue you cannot in game (yet).

once you apen the game, you will get an image like this: from here you can do many things:
1.Go to the shop (dunkar port)

2. Use the shell generator

3. Play against AI (Metropol)

4. Play against people (the games)

5. Chat

6. Edit your profile

7. Adjust opions

OPTIONS

From here, you can edit the volume and Exit the game (although the X button works just fine) and not much else.

CHAT
The chat box is fairly simple, you click the box and type. to open the box, click here: Right next to the options button. You can see the most recent message here:
And the full area here: Notice the players in chat, that is about how many are in the main menu (I think, it might be the whole game) and that the green light is light.

Profile
This is the biggest thing you can do: adjust your profile, do so by clicking here:
You should get a screen looking like this:
you can click on any masterimage to buy or equip it, and scroll with the bar on the right. Click on the ship stamp to view your badges, and the X to exit the window.
Shop, Bot fights, The Games
The shop
is at dunkar port, and when opened will look like this: You can scroll with the scroll bar, and purchase shells from the shell tab, Ships from the ship tab, and champs from the Champs tab, fairly simple. Champs are 7200 shilling or 9600 shills, ships are 9600 shilling, and shell acks are 100 shilling each.

Bot fights
Are at Metropol, and are against Valarium still, just click metropol to get started, It will take you through the selection screen as always.

The Games
Just click the games, you will get this screen: This shows the info, click the right tab to view leagues, click in one to view standings, Click the search for match button to fight.
Getting Started: Recomended buys
BY NO MEANS IS THIS LIST A EXACT FORMULA FOR SUCCESS

This list is just what I would sugest to buy, and why.

1. Lady Aurora (champ)
- Satistically, players using lady Aurora win more than any other players. AND, she is considered the best champ by many players.

2a. Bug (champ)
- Bug does damage over a wide range, and can avoid any attackers. HOWEVER, his damage is weak cannot be depended upon all the time

2b. Steel-fist Crank (champ)
- Steel-fist crank is a good tank for damage, can deal a solid 2 damage, and best of all, can shove people in all directions. This lets him do up to 10 damage to the enamy ship in one turn.

3. Sharina (champ)
- Sharina is expensive, but quickly pays for herself with healing, helping keep your champs alive

4. ARC/Sparrow (ship) Both of these prevent damage from certian tiles, and as of the most recent patch are no longer weak compared to skybucket.

5. Bug/Steel-fist crank. Buy who you did not buy above

6. Choose from here! I won't force a tema upon you, the above team is based on who is considered best and who can support them.
Crank, Bloody Mary
Steel-fist Crank
It's Steelfist Crank!Before joining the games, Crank was working the docks in His Aether-Powered Exoskeleton, doing heavy lifting, earing a modest buck when crank got into a fight with some people in the stevodores union and upon putting them in the hospital had to get out of town fast. He joined the games quickly making a name for himself due to his frame and attitude. He may not be the fastest, but he can easily arm-westle your favorite champion.

Stats:
2 movment
7 Health
2 damage
1 Range (includes diagonals)
Special Attacks:
Shove: 2 damage; 1 range (includes diagonals); Knocks oppoonent back; cannot target friendlies; 2 Aether cost

Ground Shaker: 2 damage; damages all enamies in 1 range; Knocks opponent back one tile; can damage friendlys; 5 Aether cost

Pros: Good at controlling Ship area and mid field

Cons: Offence

Comments:

Crank can easily control the area by the ship on his own, just hit the enamy then knock them back.
Don't shove this ship, please; It does not knock the ship back and it it did, that would only hinder you, because now all your melee champs can't attack it, it does not do extra damage, it is a wast of Aether.
If you shove a champ into a champ, they both take one extra damage, and are knocked back if you shove a champ into a wall or ship, they take 2 damage and the ship takes 2.

countering crank:
Aurora is one of the best chamos to counter crank, becasue if you run up to him and hit, he can generally shove you away, but with aurora, she is still in range to hit. Martel would also be good becasue he can deal more damage and take more damage, don't use butcher, harleequin (exept for his ULT.). all the others can do it, but some might die depending on your luck.

Bloody Mary
Ha Ha! Bloody Mary!Story: Re-haired bloody mary is about as quick with here tounge as she is with her feet, nimbly moving around the Aerena. she brandishes her self-made long-barreled rifle and rarly looses her mocking smile. Bright eyed and energetic, she dearly loves a challenge, laughing in the face of any enamy. Anything she does she does with a flourish and a devil-may-Care attitude. Bloody Mary prefers to dress in practical shirts and trousers, often stitched and mended, carrying a large load-out of ammunition in her many pockets. She prefers more vibrant colors than most of the clankers, and adds the practical part of her clothing with small designs and a scarf or two.

Special attacks:
Long shot: 1-2 damage; infinite range (no diagonals); 2 Aether cost

Frag gernade: (frag out! - many a squadie) 2 damage; 3 range (no diagonals); 5 Aether cost; 3x3 effect radius; damages friendlies

Pros: damage the ship first turn!

Cons: little to no defensive capability.

Comments: Long shot does not boost damage, don't use it when you do not need to.
Gernade can be used to 2 garentted damage, does not have to be from multipule targets

Countering Mary
A bug not in range will do wonders, as will martel, crank, and harlee getting close, becasue she can do 2 max damage per turn if you do it right, and you can do 2 first turn, then 4 next turn. Just don't caunter with anouther mary, that will all be who started first and luck.
Aurora, Martel
Lady Aurora
Aurora carrys herslef like an avenging archangel, cold and aloof, bringing down the wrath of the divine onto the COG's foes. A former model and actress, she quickly rose through the ranks, bringing the right combination of showmanship and devotion to the cause. While she pretends to command angelic powers, her extendable spear is completly mechanical and discharges Aether from a tank she carries. The spearmaiden is true beliver in COG's cause and spouts one liners about just punishment to her opponents. She becomes indignant when hit and returns the favor with a vengence.
Stats:
3 movment
6 health
2 damage
2 range

Special attacks:
Charged spear: deals damage to 2 targets in a row, 2 Aether cost, 2 damage, 2 range.

Spearbolt: deals damage to the enamies ship, and everyhing in between; deals 2 damage; can damage friendlies; 5 Aether cost

Pros: Range, damage, health, and movement are very nice.

Cons: mediocore specials

Comments: Charged spear has no bonus but 2 in a row, don't use it other wise, it does nothing more.
Spearbotl can be very useful, but don't use it if you can use charged spear to the same effect.

countering Aurora: Use two people, becasue her movement range and damage are such that most peple will just die, becasue if you have enough health you don't have enough movment and so on. Just don't put your people in a line or use an Aurora against her, the one that starts combat will lose.

Martel
Martel was abused when he served in the navy, so he turned to the Aether pirates and the games instead.

Stats:
2 movement
8 Health
2 damage
1 range

Special Attacks:
In your face: 3 damage; 1 range; 2 Aether cost

Mortar: 3 damage to ship; infinite range; 5 Aether cost; kills martel

Pros: Health

Cons: not massive specials

Comments: mortar can be used on one health to heal Martel at the cost of one turn, and this is wise unless you are next to enamy ship and it has 6 or less health.

Countering: Use Auror, hit him then run try and get him near an edge ordeath tile so crank can shove him. Just wear him down. the only thing you should not do is close with him, becasue he can do 5 damage per turn.
Bug, harlequin
bug
Bug was a warrior in the Aether wars, and after a shell was droped on his unit, he got delusional and started seeing bug, in addition, he became a powerful Aether conductor. He has not tuoched the ground since someone told him his bugs cannot fly up to the stratosphere.

Stats:
3 movment
5 health
1-2 damage
3 range

Special attacks:
supercharge: infinite range; 1 damage; 2 Aether cost

Immolation: 4 damage; 3 range; 5 Aether cost

Pros: Can control an area

Cons: low health

Comments: Superchargeing the ship is nice, but if you save taht Aether, you can do four damage to the ship instead.

Countering: use Aurora and herleequin, becasue both will survive, but he will not. Don't let him get 5 Aether, Immolation will destroy your plans.

Harlequin

Harlequin is constantly laughing behind his Aether injecting mask, but is drug use has lowered his health and sanity drasticly.

Stats:
3 movement
5 health
3 damage
1 range

Special attacks:
Leap: 3 damage; 2 range, no diagonals; 2 Aether cost

rampage: insta-kill; 1 range; 5 Aether cost; kills Harlequin

Pros: damage, movment

Cons: health

Comments: This damage is massive, and if you can get to the enamy ship, you can kill them easily becasue his 6 damage per tunr, but if you get five Aether, chamces are you have little helath, so use it to take someone (crank, Aurora, Martel) with you and deal 2 more damage to their ship. His leap can take you to an empty tile, he will do damage, but then he will die (probably damaging your ship in the process) keep that in mind.

Counter: Use Aurora and just pester him, he will have to turn and fight or let you kill him, and if he turns and fights (unless he has full helath and 2 Aether to leap) you will probably win, andyou can always shell.
Baron rouge & butcher
Baron Rouge
Coming from a ecological backround to Aether, Baron rouge comined the two into a sort of vodoo, something he puts to use in the Aerena.

Stats:

3 movment
6 health
1-2 damage
3 range, no line of sight needed; no diagonals

Special attacks:
Right hook: 1-2 damge; 3 range (no diagonals); 1 knockback; 2 Aether cost.

Strong Mojo: 1-2 damage; 3 range (no diagonals or line of sight); 2 knockback; 5 Aether cost

Pros: his no need to line of sight is great, knockback, movment

Cons: health, no diagonals

Comments: He has the same health as corporal, but his damage and range make him more of a pusher and not a damage dealer. Knockback can be a useful tool to make people backoff, but the need to be in the same lane make diagonals weak. In addition, unlike corporal, he can shove through walls.

Counters: go into his diagonals, make him move to hit you, then kill him next turn. When in doubt shell.

The butcher
Once a pilot in the Aether wars, Richerd hillery was shot down and was operated on, but his first act was to cut people up and add them to himself until he deemed himself complete.

Stats:
3 movement
7 health
1 range
2 damage

Special Attacks:
Hook pull: 5 range; 2 damage; pulls target in; 2 Aether cost; target does not have to reach butcher to be dealed 2 damage
Belly Bomb: 3 range; 2 damage; pulls butcher to target; 1 knockback; kills butcher

Pros: pull in; movement

cons; health

Comments: a champ will stop on a tile in their way, just some food fo thought. He does not deal damage to your ship when you belly bomb your butcher (enemies might)

Trivia: Richard Hillary was a real WWII pilot fought in the battle of britian wrote the book The Last Enamy who says Aerena has no historical accuracy? Also, where there 2 Aether wars? and where they world wars?
Corpoal and Luna
The corporal
The only grandson of the founder of the INCquisition, Wayne ford served with distinction in the INC air corp before leading it's games combat team.

Stats:
3 movment
6 health
2-3 damage
1 range

Special attacks:
charge: 3 range (excluding diagonals); 1 knockback; 1 damage; 2 Aether cost

Chainsaw massacere: 1 range; 304 damage; 5 Aether cost

Pros: damage to health ratio

cons: Ult attack; health

Comments:
He is one of the most well rounded champs, although his ULt could be better, He can deal good damage, to his foes.

Trivia: The only Wayne ford I found bearing any relation to FMC is a car dealership in New Jersey, how ever Henry ford did have four grand children: Henry Ford II; William Clay Ford, Sr.; Josephine Clay Ford; Benson Ford more random knowledge you don't need.

Luna
Luna was once a circus actress but came to the Aerena to show off to a larger crowd.

Stats:
3 movement
5 health
1 range
3 damage

Special attacks:
Leap: teleport to a tile with in range (3); 2 Aether cost

Rocket jump: Teleport to tile within range (3); 2 damage; 3X3 area of effect; 5 Aether cost

Pros: mobility; and apperently animations (loquee)

Cons: health

Comments: a more mobile version of harleequin.
Sharina And HAMMER
Sharina

Sharina Was a mercenary in the Æther wars. after being attacked by her former teammates, she joined the COG in the Ærena and took on the job as their healer.

Statistics:
Health: 6
Basic attack: 2 damage, 3 range, no diagonals, needs line of sight.
Special attack: First Aid: Heals a nearby friendly champion 3 health; cannot heal self; 2 Æther cost
Ult attack: Team heal: heals all team members 2 heath; 5 Æther cost

Comments
When I see shrina used, I see her more in an offensive role, hitting the ship for four damage a turn. and occasionally healing people.

To counter, use anouther ranged champion or come in diagonally. And shoves.

Author note: the format changes here because an update took place. just FYI

Hammer
HAMMER s a robot designed by the INC for the Æther wars. However, the designers encontered a flaw that mean thtat his power core would create minor explosions inside of him. The INC choose to avoid sacrificing movement for the required shielding, so he take damage on attacks.

Statistics
HElth: 12
Basic attack: 2 damage, melee range, takes one self damage on attack
Special attack: 1 damage, three collums in front of HAMMER until enemy ship, 2 Æther, 2 self damage
ULT: 2 damage, 5X5 area with HAmmer in the center, 5 Æther, 3 self damage

Comments
I don't see hammer used much, and when I do, he is a nucense, but not a great threat. He cant one V. one martel if he initiates combat, but can if martel attacks first. His biggest down side is that that if he dies of self damage he deals damage to your ship.

Countering: Shoving is a great thing.
Skyblade and taeyang
Skyblade
Skyblade has no official story (none after sharina do) so I made these up. just a warning. Skyblade was a Student of a Asian Æther Alliance master during the the wars, and she learned about many of the finer arts of the sword.

Stats
3 movement
6 health
2 damage
2 range (like Aurora)

Super: Wirlwind: deal 2 damage to everything round her. 2 Æther cost.

Ult: death sentance: sacrifice an ally and deal 3 damage to everything around her in new location. 5 Æther cost.

Pros: taking down hammer, martel from range; killing HAMMER before he dies, preventing ship HP lose.

Cons: Low HP, won't neccessarly last long. Situational ult.

comments: Use on a HAMMERSharina team to sacrifice HAMMER, and get healed by sharina.

Taeyang
Stats

3 movement
7 HP
2 Damage (+1 for AP)
1 Range

Super: Hunt: 2 range (no diagonals, this is covered by his basic); 2 damage (3 to Air Pirates); 2 Æther cost.

ULT: Starfall: infinite range; Deal 1 damage to every enemy champion in the Ærena, and deal 2 extra to air pirates and everything around them.

Pros: High health, anti AP

Cons: Tali.

Comments: I really don't like current faction damage, but Taeyang is almost a must if your opponent has Tali, just make sure to not get hit by the super.
Tali, Einstein
Tali
Lore: too lazy to write it.

Stats
2 Movement
5 Health
3 Range in a line, needs LOS
1 Damage for Every air Pirate present an her team (including herself)

Super: Family Affair; Deals 2 damage to an enemy (kills taeyang instantly); 2 Æther cost; same attack pattern as basic.

Ult: Powered bullet: do 1 damage for each friendly air pirate to any target.

Pros: With Pirate team, damage; range

Cons; Health, HP, lack of power without Pirates.

Comments: ships don't count as pirates for tali. She is a must If you run MArtel and luna, but other wise, avoid her.

Einstein


Lore: Too lazy to write, maybe later.

Stats
3 movement
6 health
2 damage
1 range
gain 1 ship Æther on attack

Super: drone strike; takes to Æther from the enemy and gives it to you.

ULT: mega drain; takes up to five Æther and gives it to you, but einstien must be in melee range.

Pros: controling the Flow of Æther

Cons: fighting

Comments: Einstein is fun to use, and a good chmp for shell users (or users that relly don't like shells, as you can stop them)
Ships
Skybucket
13 health; no special; the starter ship and a okay ship for early game, but you will want to upgrade ship

The Sparrow
13 health; cannot be hit on edge tiles; a nice change of pace, will force them to rethink statagems. Taeyang does 1 extra damage.

The arc
12 health; cannot be hit in 3 middle tiles; a solid choice, over sparrow (for me at least) because you have 3 un hittable tiles.

The packer
12 health; starts with 3 Aether; like you hit the ship 3 times! but you only lose 1 health! (2 from bombshell) Bonus Æther!

The beast
14 Health; Has achevments; If you win with this and not against someone below you, I respect your skill, I would not get it though, were it less than $22 I might, but it is the most expensive thing in the game. (If you like the devs though, it is a great way to show your support) .

Bombshell
14 health; health boost of the basic ship. Counts as Air pirate for Teayang however.

Tesla
14 health; health boost of basic ship.

Getting Started: Tips and Tricks
This section is a collection of tips I have found from playing Ærena. suggest more below.

1. Move the enemy: Moveing an enemy champion using Crank, baron rouge, butcher, or the corporal an quickly turn the tide, by either killing them or moving them into a possition where they can do no harm (making them useless but not giving the enemy anouther champ spot)

2. know the enemy: understand what there ship does, so you don't go trying to hit it where it can't be hit. Understand what the champs do so you don't walk into a trap.

3. Watch the Æther. Make sure the enemy is not ready to do an butcher ULT and kill all your champs make sure you know what they can do.

4. Come from the diagonals: This applies only with certian champs, like Baron, Mary, sharina. if you attack from the diagonal, they can't attack you right away generally, use this to get in the first hit.

5. use range: even though most ranged champs have RNG don't doubt the power a bug can do from behind your lines. Also, Mary only needs to be in the middle of the map to het the enemy ship, unlike all other champions.

6. Use the unexpected. Try useing the packer with a cheap stater shell, like B&S for example to get an edge on your opponent.
Skins
Skins are exactly what they sound like;they change your ship/champs apearance. one skin is 89 Æther coins per champ, or 175 per ship.
