Getting Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) to run

If OBSE isn't working this guide is for you.

Why OBSE

Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) adds many functions to Oblivion not included in the base game.

Many mods requiring OBSE to work or you might be loosing functionality.

OBSE - Where to install

You need to copy from the downloaded archive the following files and folders:

• the complete Data folder
  
• obse_1_2_416.dll
  
• obse_editor_1_2.dll
  
• obse_steam_loader.dll

to your Oblivion directory usually at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Oblivion

where Oblivion.exe and OblivionLauncher.exe is located.

obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll and obse_steam_loader.dll must be in the same directory as Oblivion.exe and OblivionLauncher.exe.

Running OBSE

Just run Oblivion from your steam library.
Ensure STEAM overlay is activated. Check Oblivion -> properties.

OBSE is running by default with no further interactions. No need to configure anything.

OBSE not working?

Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) does a check at startup if Oblivion.exe is vaild executable. Otherwise the Oblivion Script Extender will not run.

The Oblivion installation must be on the same drive where your have steam installed.

Installing Oblivion at libraries on different drives will fail the test at startup.

5:0000065434 Application Error

If you get the 5:0000065434 Application Error message box your oblivion Installation isn't on the same drive with your STEAM installation.

To fix this move your Oblivion Installation to steam installation drive.

so what if i have the game install on the drive and i copy and paste what you said to that drive and still got an error
