These are the correct words that allow us to establish a special bond and connection with the characters through our poetry, so it is ideal that we consider which ones are the best depending on who we are trying to impress. For that, we have the details in this guide that I will present for you down below. It should cover everything you'll need for your poem writing.

Feel free to keep coming back to this guide for your new playthroughs. Well, then. Grab yourself your favorite cup of tea and let's get to it together, shall we?

  • Sayori : Sayori is represented as an active and talkative person, being very cheerful and kind. She is very clumsy and gawky. She also takes advantage of some things, like cheekily stealing snacks from her friends, like Natsuki's cupcake, which was stolen from Natsuki by Sayori. Because of this, her poems often reflect a sentiment of bittersweet, melancholy or romantic.

  • Natsuki : Her beautiful interior also involves a love of manga, particularly those in the slice of life and baking genre. She's been known to store her manga collection at the Literature Club out of shame, and while the rest of the club obviously knows about her interest, she's still hesitant to talk about it. Natsuki also likes cute things, like cupcakes with cat faces. She also likes poems with happier and adorable words, although her own poems are still quite sad, like being haunted by her hobbies. Her simplistic writing style puts her at odds with Yuri.

  • Yuri : Yuri is portrayed throughout most of the game as shy, generous, polite, passionate about topics that interest her, apologetic, very intelligent, mature, and sophisticated. Yuri can be innocently insensitive, as she sometimes shows herself as condescending or pretentious without really realizing it, and she almost immediately apologizes every time, repeating that she didn't mean it. As stated by the protagonist, Yuri likes to think a lot before saying something. That being said, her poems veer into deeper, more nuanced terms.

You might notice that just beneath each section, near the end, there are three columns of names, words, and numbers. These show how many points each girl—Sayori, Natsuki, and Yuri—will receive when that particular word is chosen. The numbers range from 1 to 3, with 3 meaning the word touches her heart the most, and 1 meaning it’s a little less special to her. It’s just a way to understand which words resonate most deeply with each of them. If you’re ever curious, you can find this in the poemwords.txt file in the game’s directory.

  • Each girl has a writing style according to their own personalities and individualities, which makes them use a different font for their poems. Monika writes using "Journal" font. Sayori writes using "Hashtag" font. Natsuki writes using the "Ammys Handwriting" font. Yuri writes using the "JP Hand Slanted" font.

  • Each poem word is worth a certain number of points to each girl. Minimum of 1, maximum of 3. If a girl prefers a word, her character sticker in the lower-left corner of the journal will jump, and this represents that she achieved the maximum number of points for that word.

  • At the end of the 20 words, the girl with the most word points will be favored. Mind you, the game has a determined limit to how many points you can achieve towards each girl, which is 45. If you did your maths right, yes - you can exceed the 45 points cap, but it won't really make any difference.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Perfect! Sayori. Write a perfect poem for Sayori.
During a poem mini-game, write a poem with only words Sayori likes. You have to select 20 words that she feels inclined to. Remember that if you for some reason do not get any of her words in a poem section, you'll have to restart the act.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Perfect! Natsuki. Write a perfect poem for Natsuki.
This time, write a poem with only words Natsuki likes. Once again, you have to go with the 20 words that she feels passionate about. Restart the encounter if you can't find a word in a poem section.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Perfect! Yuri. Write a perfect poem for Yuri.
The very same logic applies to Yuri. One more time, aim for her desirable words. All the 20 words must be chosen for each section. If they don't show up, restart the act.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Perfect! Monika. Write a perfect poem for Monika.
This is a rather special achievement, and trust me, you don't have to worry about it at all. It is part of the main story, and you will automatically unlock it at a certain point of the plot. Don't mind this one.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Any% WR attempts. Write a poem in 20 seconds or less.
This achievement is very self-explanatory. Finish a poem as fast as possible. What I usually do is just during the minigame, I choose a particular section and just speed through it until the last word.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Doki Doki Poetry Slam. Spend enough time during the poem minigame for the music to loop.
Hopefully you shouldn't have to search for this one, since you'll most likely unlock it by default on your first playthrough. Just take your time writing poems, and have a personal thought and love put into each section. After a while, you'll notice that the music will play again, and that means you spent around 1-2 minutes writing your poem.

  • All praises and merits go directly to Doki Doki Literature Club's wiki page. Any suggestions, acclaims, critiques or updates, feel free to manifest in the comments below. My sincere and heartwarming gratitude. Have fun writing for and enjoying your time with your favorite girl!

  • If you truly felt like this guide genuinely assisted you in your games, please, do so consider dropping a rating for me. I really try my best to put passion, attention, and time into my works, especially to have everything explained nicely and well for you so no possible doubts may be had, and to make it pleasant and beautiful to read and go through so it doesn't seem tiresome. I would be very thankful if you took the time to provide your feedback. You know, these kinds of small things help passionate guides reach more people, and help them just as it did to you! I won't be the only one to be appreciative, but they will also be, too!

  • If you read it this far, I have something special to share with you, so don't go just yet! As president of the Napping Club, it's my duty to make this guide fun and exciting for you. Here's Beatriz's Golden Tip For You: How wonderful it is that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world. Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy. There is always something to be cheerful about. Always. Thank you, and wishing you the best! Enjoy your playthrough!

⠀⠀

Also, I forgot to mention that, if curiosity struck you, no. No, you can't write a poem specifically for Monika. It doesn't allow you until later on in the game, so if she, just like for me, is your favorite girl with the most lovely personality, don't worry - you'll get your chance with her. Just wait for your opportunity. It will happen. Okay, now that's truly it! Bye, bye! I hope this guide was helpful to you!
