This Patch fixes the Unhandled Exception Launch Crash, adds 11 Custom/Unreleased characters, 5 PlayStation exclusive characters, PlayStation Exclusive costumes and features dozens of Alternate/Custom costumes by Moddah, BrutalAce, Moedjoer, DarkSamus, bbbSFXT, sloth85/Sloth86, aaniishh12, robhal, repinscourge, and monkeygigabuster

In this Guide we will defeat defunct DRM that crippled this game and tanked its steam reviews and add more content to the game in a single install that you cannot find anywhere else online.

Install Instructions

• Install Street Fighter X Tekken
  
• Download the Patch
  
• ⬇️Download⬇️ [pixeldrain.com] Last Updated May 12, 2022
  
• Right click on Street Fighter X Tekken in your steam game library
  
• Hover over "manage" then click "browse local files"
  
• Extract the contents of the archive into your Street Fighter X Tekken install directory.
  
• Replace all files when prompted. ✔️
  
• Launch the game and Enjoy!

⚠️DISABLE ANTI-ALIASING PRIOR TO STARTING A MATCH!⚠️
The character Unknown has a bug that will cause the game to hang or crash when AA in on.

Steam Deck

Press the STEAM button, go to 'Power' settings and switch to Desktop.

1. Download the patch and extract its content to the download/installation directory.

2. From your installation, edit the file "installscript.vdf" on the installation directory and remove the "Live" {...} entry. Save the modified file.

3a. Boot the game.

3b. Optional - If you have issues running/booting the game, try changing the Compatibility to GE-Proton7-17. Sometimes the game likes to hang on the 'Starting launch...' window. Unsure why but ultimately its not 100% verified per Steam for Deck. YMMV.

4. Once in the game (in Desktop mode), go to the Options>Graphic Settings. Set "Fullscreen" to OFF. Save settings if prompted. Once done, quit the game.

From your desktop click 'Return to Gaming Mode'. Once back in Gaming Mode, you should be able to launch the game at the correct resolution and access the system's Quick settings.

Note 1: The info about the installscript.vdf file is thanks to UnknownPlayer[www.protondb.com]

Note 2: If you leave Fullscreen to ON, the game will boot with the wrong (!) resolution in Gaming Mode. (unplayable) I haven't read about this 'fix' officially but this is just from my personal experience that got it to work on Deck at native 1280x800 resolution.

Note 3: For some reason the extra characters like Pac-Man and Mega-Man aren't showing up on Deck after applying this patch oddly enough. I couldn't access the extra skins either shown above for Chun-Li for example. Unsure if its just a Linux vs Windows filesystem issue. Maybe someone could look into this a bit further and investigate.

If you use steam, add to command line:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES='dinput8.dll=n' %command%

If you use lutris:
add to runner options-> dll overrides
dinput8.dll n

This will enable mega man/pacman and extra costumes/features!

Selecting Custom Skins

How to use the additional costume slot (only in character select screen):
The method used by catspaw to change into C4 above or back to original C1-C3 is kind of confusing at first. The game only allow selecting 3 slots (C1/C2/C3). Then how do we select C4 and above? First we select one character (eg. Cammy) then the select the third slot (Alternate). Now go back to second slot (Swap), you will see that Cammy's costume is no longer the King Swap (Original C2), but become the costume you set on C4 (in my case is the Lady Raiden costume). Then to select C5, go forward to third again (in my case is the Thai Boxer costume). To select C6, go back again to second slot (in my case is the Doll costume). And so on until last costume you have (in my case C9 is the Christmas costume).
Now how to select the previous costume? Easy, just reverse the process, eg: the last selected is C6 on second slot, now to select C5, go back to first slot (Normal). To select C4, go forward to second slot. To select C3, go back to first slot. And so on until eventually you go back to C1.

Pretty confusing, right? Don't worry, I was confused at first too. So here is the summary of how to change the costume slot:

1. Go up between Swap & Alternate to select C3 -> C4 -> C5 -> C6 -> ..etc.



2. Go down between Original & Swap to select C20->.....C6 -> C5 -> C4 -> C2 -> C1

Changing Your Username

To change your Username open xlive.ini with notepad and change "GamerTag" to whatever you would like.
XUID value does not matter as online play no longer functions.

This step is completely optional.

i was surprised to stumble across this nice mod, but im a bit disappointed it doesnt seem to fix the missing/placeholder effects for the PS3 characters. any reason nobody has ever fixed that while making sure to keep putting them in community mods?
