As an example, while unlocking the final CGs I did a few things not suggested in the guide, like deleting the first two bits of spam - but I was still able to get the good ending.
Not surprisingly, it seems that the save points are those key moments - moving the bear trap (or not), asking about the favourite memory (or not), reading the third spam message (or not) and going to the highway (or not), as well as the few decisions after that.
That said, I do like the decisions chosen in the guide. Felt like the best version of the story.
