OUR MISSION
Wigle is hell bent on creating a vital, educated community around the highest quality, most inventive, bursting-with-terroir fermented and distilled products in the world. We're strong believers of investing in our communities to support the agricultural, social and economic systems of which we are a part. We devote significant resources into innovation and make each one of our dozens of regionally inspired spirits from scratch with organic ingredients. We never purchase spirits from bulk suppliers.

WHY PITTSBURGH? WHY WIGLE?
American whiskey was born in Pittsburgh! Throughout the 1700 and 1800s, Western Pennsylvania was the epicenter of American Whiskey production. Wigle is named for one of those pioneering Pennsylvania distillers. In the 1790s, Phillip Wigle defended his right to distill in a tussle with a tax collector and unwittingly helped spark the Whiskey Rebellion, which pitted Western Pennsylvania distillers against George Washington's troops. He was sentenced to hang for treason but was ultimately pardoned by Washington. By 1808, Allegheny County was producing half a barrel of whiskey for every man, woman and child living in America. The gold standard of American whiskey was a spicy, earthy rye whiskey called Monongahela Rye. We aim to bring back this tradition with organic regional grains milled on site, then fermented and distilled in our copper pot still in the first distillery in the City of Pittsburgh since Prohibition.

FAMILY ROOTS
Wigle is family owned and operated. The distillery became operational in December of 2011 and opened to the public in March 2012 after two years of lobbying to change the state laws to allow for an on-premise model of craft distillery to exist in Pennsylvania. Wigle has been the most awarded craft whiskey distillery for five consecutive years by the American Craft Spirits Association and has won Best in Category Craft Rye Whiskey (2015), Best in Category Wheat Whiskey (2016), Best in Category and Class Gin (2016 & 2018), and the National Innovation Award for Eau de Pickle (2019) and Saffron Amaro (2020).

Thanks all!

@HMHS Britannic my next release will be an older building from Pittsburgh :steamhappy: I'd also like to do the Gulf tower and maybe the Koppers building at some point.

Can you make some of the older skyscrapers and other older buildings of Pittsburgh?

I can ALWAYS use more single story wall to walls, perfect for downtown outskirts and keeping things a little lower density wise.

Nice job. It's on my list of places to visit when I come back for a visit. Thanks for keeping home (virtually) close with your creations. It really helps.
