Pawtection v1.0

Beskrivning
Pawtection is a 1-6 player puzzle game where players collaborate to run their animal shelters. With stray overpopulation being a constant problem, animal shelters are stretching themselves thin to accommodate as many animals as they possibly can. In this game, you assume the role of a shelter manager trying all they can to help as many animals as possible find homes, but no matter how well you and your fellow managers play, there will always be those you can not save.

Many of the game's features are scripted to help improve the gameplay experience.

This game was created as part of a class project for the University of Utah’s EAE program as a practice in alternative game development. Alternative games are games which primarily seek to provide value beyond the entertainment value that games normally provide. Our goal was to make a game that can help spread awareness and empathy for some of the everyday struggles which many shelters are facing.

We decided to create this game because animals are something our whole team are passionate about, we felt that people often overlook the consequences of irresponsible pet ownership; Upon researching it further, our findings initially shocked all of us with how many animals are euthanized each year due to shelter overpopulation and under funding.

Languages:
Currently this game is only supported for english, and there are no plans to add localization for other languages.

Donations:
As this was created as a part of a class project, we are not accepting donations. If you would like to contribute, please donate to your local shelters. If you are unable to donate money, many shelters are in constant need of various items, so give your local shelter a call and ask what they may need. You can also volunteer your time to help contribute.

For more information on some of the current problems still facing animals today, we always recommend doing your own research, but here's one of the most helpful research papers we found just to get you started.
