You can 'transfer' parts from one Faith's custom char save to another:
Use the glitch from your guide, get a ton of gems/ale/gold/fame. For example, with a Fire mage.
Save.
Click Back. (As far as you like.)
Pick different Faith/character. For example, a Water mage, Earth warrior, whatever.
Go custom again.
Save new Faith char.
Load Fire mage.
Load new Faith char (the Water mage, Earth warrior, whatever).
See that the gems/ale/gold/fame didn't update, you had whatever you gave the Fire mage.
Save.
Hope that's comprehensible. :)
Dealer: "Hey, psst, I've got this super duper spell for you, you'll never get lost again!"
Spellhoarder: "Gimmegimme!"
(I know at least one person who could use that spell in real life though. ;P )
The best one is teach a faith "detect [faith]" but it only detects their faith. Even if they did get a mage to use it, it would simply reveal to them where they are... which they already know.
I don't much like giving spells away to potential enemies. They're mine, all mine, muhahaha.
Ehm. Sorry. :) I mean they could use the spells against me, after all.
Don't want to use all spells cheat (yet). :)
It's also important to note that members of the Lord's party almost never trade. Temple guardians can be gift-traded sometimes, but I'd recommend spells as the "gift" and the "all spells" cheat to get all of those spells.
I've tried quite a bit to get some units from a friendly neighbour, und only buying some bird (seagull I think) with 40-odd gold worked. They didn't want to give it to me for less.
From the guide I thought anything would work, even 1 gold, for getting half their gold, ale, and crystals and stuff. :))
Maybe their definition of "Gift" really is just the stage at which it is listed; between trade and request?
How much did you give them in the first turn to get their units?
