Introduction and Disclaimer
Hi there, welcome to my amateur guide on Night Blights. This obscure game has been somewhat of an obsession of mine for the past 5 years to the point where I know it like the back of my hand, and I don't see a reason why I shouldn't share it here.

Now just a brief disclaimer, I don't fully understand how the game works. I don't have the code or a decompiler or anything like that, so sometimes what I say will be speculation, however it will be stated when I'm unsure of something.

Also this guide is very much a work in progress, I'll do my best to update it regularly and all feedback is appreciated, as I want my works to be easily readable.
Mechanics
This section is dedicated to the different game mechanics in Night Blights. Mechanics introduced on Sunday will be covered separately alongside the night itself, as they're that different from the main gameplay.

Stamina
Stamina is a mechanic that limits how much the player can run.
While it's not exactly known how much stamina you have or how fast it drains while running, the basics for how it works are.

The lower your stamina, the heavier your blinking gets. When you run out, you be unable to run and fall asleep, only to be abruptly killed by a Blight.
It seems that on Monday, you have somewhat of a grace period where running out of stamina doesn't kill you. However this is largely untested and it may have resulted from extremely good luck.

The heavy blinking can obscure your vision, leading you to miss things such as Toys, the Fireplace and Blights.

Time
Each night starts at 11pm and ends at 7am, for a total of 8 ingame hours. Each ingame hour is about 1 minute long, so each night lasts approximately 8 minutes, potentially closer to 9 or 10.

On Saturday, you lose at 7am if you didn't put all the Parts into the toybox.
On Sunday, you lose at 7am if you didn't kill all the Blights.

You can check the current time by looking at one of the clocks around the house.
There are alarm clocks in Your Bedroom and the SIsters Bedroom, a clock by the Stairway, a clock above the Fireplace, a unique looking clock by the Kitchen table, and a crooked clock in the Attic.

Stars
When you win a night, you will receive 1-3 Stars depending on how well you did. The highest amount per night you have received will be saved and shown on that nights page.

You lose a Star for the night when any Blight escapes, not including ones that target family members of course because they just end the night.
On Sunday, your Star rating depends on how fast you kill the Blights.
Killing them before 5am gives you 3 Stars.
Killing them all before 6am gives you 2 Stars.
Any later gives you 1 Star.

Stars are used to unlock VHS Tapes, with Moving In unlocking at 15, Blight Kong unlocking at 18, and Camp Thunderstone unlocking at 21.
Objects
This section is dedicated to the many objects found around the house. While they all have different uses, their main characteristic is that they can be picked up and carried by the player, and with the exception of the VHS Tapes, objects spawn in randomly chosen locations.

Toys

(Robo-Chris needs a stool for support because he's just that damn top-heavy)
Toys are likely the most recognizable thing in Night Blights besides the Blights themselves.
Their placement can vary greatly, being on the floor, furniture, shelves or sometimes even hiding. Toys must be fed to the Blights under the Beds once they wake up. Only Blights under Beds can be fed toys!

Toys randomly take on one of 7 appearances, with the exception of the Rocket Ship that spawns on the bed on Monday and the easter egg Robo Chris and Blue Owlby. While their model affects their physics and hitbox, therefore ease of grabbing slightly, they otherwise show no gameplay difference.
The 7 different Toy variants are the following:
  • Blue Owlby
  • Pink Owlby
  • Green Brachi
  • Red Brachi
  • Robo-Chris
  • Rocket Ship
  • Octopus

Stools

Red Stools are often found next to furniture or in corners.
Stools can make accessing shortcuts and Toys easier and in some cases, faster.

However, keep in mind that with the singular exception of when the Blights slam the bottom drawer shut in the Garage, Stools are never required for navigation. They simply make your life easier.

Blight Buster Parts

On Saturday, you will need to collect 6 different Parts from around the house in order to construct a Blight Buster.
Parts must be placed inside the toybox in your room, and failing to do so before 7am results in failure.

Each part always spawns in its own room, however they have a few different positions that are randomly chosen from.
The parts and their locations are:
  • Torch - Attic
  • Mouse - Study
  • Cup - Sisters Room
  • Box of Straws - Kitchen
  • Duct Tape - Garage
  • Box of Crayons - Basement

VHS Tapes
[Image missing]
VHS Tapes are Freeplay exclusive objects unlocked by getting enough Stars. They can be carried to the Cinema and played to watch short, soundless movies.

VHS Tapes have set spawn locations, but after they finish playing they will be found where they landed after being ejected.
Moving In is the first VHS Tape, unlocked at 15 Stars. It is found on the lower part of the table in the Living Room.
Blight Kong is the second VHS Tape, unlocked at 18 Stars. It is found next to the books in the Studys desk.
Camp Thunderstone is the third and final VHS Tape, unlocked at 21 Stars. It is found in a dresser in the Attic by the closet where all the Toys are stored.

I'll leave what's on the Tapes themselves to your own discovery.
Threats (Monday-Tuesday)
This section is dedicated to the various ways the Night Blights try to get inside the House, or Threats as I like to call them for the sake of simplicity.

Threats have two main "categories" I'm making up for this guide. That would be Dangerous Threats and Deadly Threats.
Dangerous Threats release a Blight into the house when allowed to complete, and Deadly Threats result in a game over when allowed to complete.

Threats only initially occur one at a time, but attempting to stall one out or taking too long may result in another overlapping the currently active one as a preventive measure.

Wardrobes (And the Fridge)
Introduced: Monday, Attic Wardrobe added on Friday
Rooms: Your Room, Hallway, Parent's Room, Sister's Room, Kitchen, Attic
Type: Dangerous
Wardrobes are one of the first Threats introduced in Night Blights, and feature the most visual variation out of any in the game.

Summary: Click on the door to close Wardrobes. You'll know when you're close enough because you'll see a hand on your crosshair. Fully opened Wardrobes cannot be closed.

Wardrobes have 5 stages once active:
  • Stage 1 - The Wardrobe is open just a tiny bit.
  • Stage 2 - The Wardrobe is open more.
  • Stage 3 - The Wardrobe is noticeably open.
  • Stage 4 - The Wardrobe is almost completely open.
  • Stage 5 - The Wardrobe is open and cannot be closed. The Blight inside will kill you if you come too close and will roam the House if you look away.
Audio Cue: Creaking sound when advancing a stage. The Attic Wardrobe has its own, slightly deeper sound. This sound isn't very loud and may be harder to hear from far away. It's possible the laughing sound is also an indication for Wardrobes opening, but this is entirely unconfirmed and its function is unknown.

Tips:
  • Wardrobes are an exception to the normal timing of Threats, and are on their own, separate timers.
  • Don't prioritize Wardrobes over other Threats unless the Wardrobe is very close to opening.
  • If you forget what you have to do for the Night, checking the Wardrobe in Your Room will provide a basic idea of how to deal with every active Threat.
  • The Wardrobe in the Sister's Room has a weird trigger area for breathing, and if active can be heard from the Living Room couch.
  • The Attic Wardrobe only becomes active once-twice a Night, though in one streamed attempt, I ignored it completely and it never even opened. This doesn't mean you shouldn't check it, but treat it as a lower priority.

Beds
[Image missing]
Introduced: Monday
Rooms: Parent's Room, Sister's Room
Type: Deadly
There's no Blight under your bed due to Teddy guarding it for you.

Summary: When the Blight underneath becomes hungry, you must give it a Toy.

Beds have 5 stages once active:
  • Stage 1 - The Blight underneath has woken up and moved forward slightly.
  • Stage 2 - The Blight has moved to the halfway point.
  • Stage 3 - The Blight is at the foot of the bed.
  • Stage 4 - The Blight has its arms and head out from under the bed. At this point onward it will kill you if you come too close.
  • Stage 5 - The Blight crawls onto the bed to kill the family member(s) sleeping. He will no longer accept Toys.
Audio Cue: The Blight under the bed vocalizes when advancing a stage. Each bed has a different line.
Parent's Bed - "Feed me!"
Sister's Bed - "Hungry..."
The Sister's Bed sound cue is quiet, and can be hard to hear

Tips:
  • It's common to create a "stockpile" of Toys near the Beds for quick access.
  • Blights must be hand-fed, and will not eat Toys kept near the foot of the Bed or thrown at them.
  • Only Blights under Beds can be fed Toys!

The Crib

Introduced: Tuesday
Room: Your Room
Type: Deadly
The Crib is the second and last Deadly Threat introduced, as you don't have any more family living with you.

Summary: When the Blight in the skylight starts to drop down, spin the mobile to scare him off, or maybe put him to sleep? Perhaps we should stop questioning it and just be happy it works.

The Crib has 5 stages once active:
  • Stage 1 - The Blight has emerged from the skylight.
  • Stage 2 - The Blight has dropped down slightly.
  • Stage 3 - The Blight is halfway there.
  • Stage 4 - The Blight is hanging directly over the Crib.
  • Stage 5 - The Blight rapidly zooms down onto The Crib to kill your brother. Spinning the mobile will have no longer have any effect.
Audio Cue: Your brother cries continually while the Crib is active with no indication when it advances a Stage. This is one of the loudest audio cues and can be heard clearly from all over the house.

Tips:
  • Unlike any other threat, the Blight will always kill you if you get too close instead of having a specific point where it becomes harmful to get near.
  • For information on how to deal with the Blight under the Crib, see the Nightly Happenings section.

Garage Door
[Image missing]
Introduced: Tuesday
Room: IDK
Type: Dangerous
The newly opened Garage features a very large door that will absolutely be used for gameplay reasons.

Summary: When the Garage Door opens, you must climb the tool chest and press the red button to close it. Simple as that.

[Stage info TBA]
  • [Stages TBA]
Audio Cue: Very loud garage door opening sounds for about 1 second when advancing a Stage.

Tips:
  • The Garage Door is your main incentive to not stay upstairs for too long, as it's relatively quick and very far from the stairway.
  • Keep a Stool near the Garage, you might need it later.
  • Despite the horrifying reveal that there are FIVE Blights outside the Garage Door, only the one in the Crawler position will actually enter the house. This doesn't mean you should go out there.
  • Cutting between the Living Room couch and chair is a simple shortcut to get to the Garage faster, though this has some risk on Thursday onward.
Threats (Wednesday-Thursday)
The Toilet
[Image missing]
Introduced: Wednesday
Room: Bathroom
Type: Dangerous
I mean what do you want me to say, it's a Toilet. There's nothing of note about it other than the lack of a bidet.

Summary: When a Blight attempts to force itself out of your septic system (don't worry, he likes it) you must flush him back down.

The Toilet has 5 stages once active:
  • Stage 1 - The lid parts slightly.
  • Stage 2 - The lid opens slightly more, the Blight's claws are visible.
  • Stage 3 - The lid opens more, the Blight's hands are clearly visible and you can see its head from up close.
  • Stage 4 - The Blight has emerged from the Toilet, but the lid still covers it slightly.
  • Stage 5 - The lid is now fully up and the Blight can no longer be flushed. The Blight will kill you if you come too close and will roam the House if you look away.
Audio Cue: The Toilet makes a gurgling sound (I think?) when advancing a Stage.

Tips:
  • As the Garage Door is your main incentive to not stay upstairs for too long, the Toilet is your main incentive to not stay downstairs too long, due to it being very quick to open on Friday.

The Fireplace
[Image missing]
Introduced: Wednesday
Room: Living Room
Type: Dangerous
The most notorious and infamous Threat in the entire game. It's what ended the run in the original Night Blights Survival Guide video for a reason

Summary: When the fire starts to die down and smoke is seen, you need to use the bellows to stoke the flames.

The Fireplace has 4 Stages once active:
  • Stage 1 - The fire is noticeably smaller and smoke is starting to become visible.
  • Stage 2 - The fire has shrunk more and additional smoke is visible.
  • Stage 3 - The fire is nearly extinguished and the Blight is poking its head out.
  • Stage 4 - The fire is completely dead. The Blight will kill you if you come too close and will roam the House if you look away.
Audio Cue: Unlike every other Threat, the Fireplace lacks an audio cue entirely.

Tips:
  • If it feels like nothing is happening, check the Fireplace.
  • Using the bellows to repel a Blight makes it sound a noticeably deeper puff of air. If you have trouble telling when the Fireplace has been stopped, listen for that.

Potted Plants
[Image missing]
Introduced: Thursday, one in the Study added on Saturday
Rooms: Hallway, Bathroom, Study, Living Room (x3), Kitchen
Type: Ambient
Potted Plants are the most unique Threat due to their uncertain occurrence and how variable their impact can be depending on which one is occupied.

There is no way to predict or directly deal with Potted Plants, though only one may be occupied at any given time. Instead of a Stage, Audio Cue and Tip section, here's simply a guide for each Plant:
  • Hallway - Little threat if any, just don't go near it.
  • Bathroom, Study and Living Room (near Garage) - Tricky due to their proximity to the doorway, as these can trick you into believing a Blight is waiting in the room for you. The one in the Bathroom can also guard a Toy very closely, though if I recall you can still pick it up.
  • Living Room (near Fireplace) - Prevents quick access to the Kitchen counter, potentially time wasting if the Fridge needs to be closed.
  • Living Room (near couch) - Easily the most dangerous Potted Plant, as it's at the end of a shortcut and is hard to see or hear before going through it. This makes it risky to use if the Garage triggers, but jumping on the couch to check can help at the cost of some time.
  • Kitchen - Prevents access to a single Toy without a Stool.

The Vents
[Image missing]
Introduced: Thursday
Rooms: Main Vent in Basement, others in Hallway, Living Room and Attic
Type: Dangerous
The Vents are the Threat I have the least information about, and they behave very oddly compared to others.

Summary: When a Blight is spotted in a Vent and/or scratching sounds are heard, the blue button in the Basement must be pressed to send them away.

Stages are hard to assess due to how spread out the Vents are, and this section is purely speculative beyond the final two. Vents potentially have 5 Stages once active, though it could simply be 2-3:
  • Stage 1 - Eyes are visible in the Attic Vent.
  • Stage 2 - Eyes are visible in the Hallway Vent.
  • Stage 3 - Eyes are visible in the Living Room Vent.
  • Stage 4 - Eyes are visible in the Basement Vent.
  • Stage 5 - The Basement Vent is now open and the Blight is peeking out. The Blight will kill you if you come too close and will roam the House if you look away.
Audio Cue: A continuous scratching sound with no indication when advancing Stages. This sound is very quiet and can be dismissed as white noise.

Tips:
  • The button only glows when the Vents are active. Checking from the Basement stairway is a quick way to see if they need attention.
  • Similar to the Fireplace, it helps to check the Vents if it feels like nothing is happening.
  • Other things in the Vents are not an immediate concern.
Roaming Blights (Monday-Saturday)
This section covers the behavior of Blights released into the house. Their AI is not fully understood and this section contains a high amount of educated guesswork due to the small sample size of footage and my own experiences involving them. Any patterns or information picked up by players would be greatly appreciated.

Escaped Blights
Introduced: Monday, deactivated on Sunday
Type: Roaming
Rooms: All
When a Blight in the Dangerous category has reached its final Stage and disappears from its entrance, it will be considered Escaped and occasionally be found in "hiding spots" around the house.

Summary: Escaped Blights will lurk in a chosen hiding spot, and will stay there until an unspecified amount of time passes without the player entering their attack range. This causes them to get bored and despawn.

Hiding spots are known to be the following:
  • Corners of rooms
  • Behind doors
  • The corner of the Kitchen counter
  • Behind the top of the Attic stairway
Audio Cue: Escaped Blights are only detectable by their breathing. If you can see one, it's already jumping at you.

Tips:
  • There is no way to recontain Escaped Blights.
  • Keep your guard up when near corners and doorways, and pause briefly to listen before going around them. This takes considerable time away from the player, but is the only known way to avoid them reliably.
  • Escaped Blights are essentially a soft-timer on later Nights, as their breathing may be easily masked by other sounds and due to the time they need to deal with, can snowball into more and more Blights escaping.
Nightly Happenings
Many things can happen during the Night, with most directly caused by the Blights themselves. Most of these are harmless, though a few can pose a significant threat.

Graffiti

Threat Level: None
Earliest Sighting: Monday

Thanks to my friend Ice for providing me with some of his own screenshots.

The Blights may sometimes write on the wall, presumably with a red marker. Good luck explaining that to your parents.

Scratch Marks

Threat Level: None
Earliest Sighting: Monday

Blight scratch marks can be commonly found on wooden surfaces and the Kitchen counter. Though these are sometimes mistaken for a sign a Blight has escaped, they simply appear at random.

FREE TOYS

Threat Level: Low
Earliest Sighting: Tuesday

After a few hours you may see some enticing signs claiming to lead to "FREE TOYS". Following them will lead you to what was advertised, but with something that definitely isn't a Toy in the middle. I don't think I need to tell you it's a bad idea to reach your hand in there.

Mousehole Blight

Threat Level: Medium
Earliest Sighting: Wednesday

Sometimes you'll see this little bugger show up under The Crib. He blocks the direct route to the mobile, killing you if you get too close. He can easily be avoided by having a Stool to climb onto the nearby chair, or by going either from the left side or behind to spin the mobile. However, these take some additional time to do, which gives you less to work with.

Stairs Blight

Threat Level: High
Earliest Sighting: Thursday

When going upstairs, a Blight may occupy one half of it and render it inaccessible. This can pose a large threat, in equal parts to his inconspicuousness and the time he wastes. Thankfully, he despawns after fully going upstairs.

Teddy Stalking

Threat Level: None
Earliest Sighting: Friday

Teddy may teleport behind you in a menacing pose several times throughout the Night. While harmless, it can catch you off guard and make you panic.

Fake Achievements

Threat Level: None
Earliest Sighting: Sunday

Thanks to Sheena/PsychoBilly2422[night-blights.fandom.com] for uploading these images to the wiki.

When playing through Sunday, you'll likely see one of these pop up on the bottom right. Just the Blights trying to taunt/shame you.

I completed Wednesday night yesterday and now I'm on Thursday night. It's going to be more difficult than the last ones.

I completed Tuesday Night just now and now I'm on Wednesday Night now but I have to feed the Blights toy under my sister's and parents' beds, close the four wardrobes whenever they're open, close the garage door if it's open, close the fridge, spin the mobile for baby brother, flush the toilet when the Blights come up, and keep the fire alight for the fireplace. That's seven things to do!

Hearing that gave me some motivation back, I'll try to update it (though lacking images) soon.

This guide is extremely helpful to this game! I completed Monday Night a little bit ago and now I'm on Tuesday Night.

So glad I'm not the only person who still finds the game really interesting. The best thing with the game is using a stool to just skip the stairs and jump from the little table lol

Yeah just need to get a screenshot of it, doesn't spawn very often.
