How to fix Half-Life: Source

As we all know, Half-Life: Source is a port of Half-Life to the source engine by Valve, and it's buggy as hell. As the source engine was updated, so was Half-Life: Source, however, those updates brought more bugs than fixed them. BloodyMuffin from ModDB has made a mod which fixes the majority of the bugs, and this guide will show you how to install it.

Downloading the Half-Life: Source Fixed mod

To download the mod, go to this page:

Go to the files section and in there go to the "Half-Life: Source Fixed 2.0" file.
Do not go to the 2.1 file, it is just a patch, not the whole mod.

Once there, download the mod, which will come in the form of a zip file.

Installing the mod

After the mod has downloaded, you'll need to put it in your sourcemods folder. Navigate to where you have installed steam and go to steamapps > sourcemods, the path should look something like this:

Once you found your sourcemods folder, open the zip file you downloaded.
You should see a folder called "hls_fix", drag it to the sourcemods folder.
Note: I was using WinRAR to extract the mod from the zip file, if you do not have WinRAR, that's ok, it will look different to you, but would basically be the same proccess.

EXTRA: HL:S Fixed patch 2.1

HL:S Fixed 2.0 came with some bugs, this patch released by the developer of the mod fixes them.

To download it, go back to the files section of the mod page. In there select "Half-Life: Source Fixed Patch 2.1" and download it.



Once it has been downloaded, open the zip file and also go to the mods files (sourcemods/hls_fix). Then, simply put the files of the patch into the hls_fix folder, replace any files if asked.

Launching the mod

Now that you have put the mod in your sourcemods folder, you will need to restart steam for it to appear in your library.

Once restarted, the mod should now be in your library, start it up and you have just installed the Half-Life: Source Fixed mod!

If the mod fails to appear in your library, try this fix from the mod page:

"If the mod fails to appear in your steam games list, place the mod in your Half-Life 2 directory (Half-Life 2/hls_fix/) and run HL:S with the launch parameter "-game hls_fix" (sans the quotes)."
