Fix stuttering/freezing for NVIDIA GPU's
By VITIИHO
Since you're playing Detroit on steam, you've probably experienced terrible framerates, freezes or stutters. In my case, it made the game unplayable. Here's how to fix all of that, but only for NVIDIA graphics cards. If you have an AMD, i sadly can't help you.

For some reason, the latest NVIDIA drivers are not optimized for this game & it makes the game really laggy, causes crashes and all sorts of other issues. But the drivers that were available when the game was released on steam run the game well, and you have to use those.

Let's get to the point, here's the fix.
1.) Go to this link https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/159887/
2.) Install the 446.14 NVIDIA GeForce Driver update
3.) I recommend restarting your PC after downgrading the drivers.
4.) When you have restarted, open Detroit: Become Human and let the game compile shaders.
5.) Voila! The game should run normally at a normal framerate, and no stutters.

Have fun.

I know there are a ton of posts and google searches for this problem, but this is what fixed my fps drops and stuttering.

I was encountering this problem as a new player and fan of the series. What helped my stuttering frames to stop. Was I went into my D:BH directory, and deleted the folder 'Shader Cache', I'm not sure what it did. But, I do know that once you delete the 'Shader Cache' folder and then relaunch the game. The game will make a brand new shader cache folder, etc.

Whatever was in the new shader/ deleted from the old folder, fixed my stuttering FPS that I was encountering from time to time. I now get locked 60fps with no drops + VSYNC (personal preference). I never rolled back my NVIDIA drivers (doesn't make sense for having a new 3080) or did any of the other odd shit that people on youtube or goggle suggested. This is what worked for me in my situation and hopefully it will work for you.

Specs:

Ryzen 3900x
3080 RTX FTW
64GB Ram
Games are installed on M.2

Personally, the way i fixed my stuttering was by simply disabling V sync in the settings and setting my graphics to high.

I did these things and it fixed it for me:

1. Downloaded DDU, uninstalled graphic drivers with it (in safe mode), reinstalled latest nvidia driver
2. Turned off Steam & Nvidia overlays
3. Played the game! :cubehappy:

Solution that fixed the freezing (others didn't help)
- Restart - Enter BIOS - Disable Hyper-Threading - Save and exit
I hope it would help someone else too. Good luck!

Odd thing: first time I played Detroit there was no lockups probs started after windows auto updated itself. Had bought a brand new laptop and probs started about 2 weeks later after a windows update:( You give a quick/easy way to solve the prob but the driver was created before my laptop was build not sure if it´s wise for me to install that driver?

Is there a way to get back to the latest (updated) drivers after I'm finished with Detroit?
