! REMINDER !
Make sure that you have already saved at least one game's saved slot. This guide will not work if you have an empty game's saved slot.

Those frame drops while auto-saving is appearing is because that somehow this game doesn't create save file into the same drive as your game is installed. That's why we need "transform" our save file into the drive where your game is installed.
Step 1
Find your SnowRunner save files.
They should be somewhere like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steam account ID>\1465360\remote

Step 2 [optional]
For safe keeping, backup your contents of the "remote folder" to your desktop.
Step 3
Create a new folder "Snowrunner symlink save" on the same drive as your game is installed.
For me this was my G:\ drive

Then move the contents from "remote" folder to this new "Snowrunner symlink save" folder.
Step 4
Delete the original "remote folder" within the directory from Step 1.
Step 5
Run Command Prompt as administrator. ! You need to open it as a administrator !
In an elevated command prompt, run the command:

mklink /D "E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\1*******6\1465360\remote" "G:\Snowrunner symlink save" and press ENTER.

You need to change the the drive letter or paths and steam account ID because I can have different paths and steam account ID than you.

For example, if your main SnowRunner save folder was in C:\ drive, and your new "Snorunner symlink save" folder is in "E:\ drive, and your steam account ID is 123456789, do this:
mklink /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\123456789\1465360\remote" "E:\Snowrunner symlink save"
Step 6
Test your game. There shouldn't be frame drops when auto-save appears anymore.

Let me know, if this guide helped you with the problem.

It worked. One small issue though - after I reloaded the game with new folder for autosave the savegame screamed at me that I dont have mods activated (mods I use in the savegame). I had to log out and log in mod io, because nothing worked. Mod wokrshop menu claimed I have no mods subscribed neither activated. Luckilly I found some reddit post which gave me the advice to log out and log in, check email for the code, type it in, log in back to the mod io website (through the game menu) and it should work. I had to resubscribe/activate all the needed mods and then I finally could play. It is funny how I always knew the game is saving because of the lag. Now I played without a lag and worried if the game even autosaved for me :D Thanks a lot - Díky.

Thanks @Miki, worked for me while following your step-by-step instructions!

One thing of note, I referred to the Maprunner (https://www.maprunner.info/) page's reference to save file locations here:

Steam save location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{YOUR_STEAM_USER_ID}\1465360\remote\CompleteSave.cfg

Epic Games save location:
C:\Users\{USER}\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\storage\{YOUR_EPIC_ID}\CompleteSave.dat

Holyyy you're a GOD. The autosave lag brought me to the brink of insanity. Thank you.

Thx so much! This game is so annoying. I have a freezing problem and guess how I solve it. Reinstall my audio driver, but not the last one, the LAST ONE that support my mother board. After that half of freezing are gone. And with your help, I finally can play just as Dev mean it. Thank you again :missing:

I would like to ask one important question. If you have this lag (fps drop) when autosave. Does it happen to you with any other games? No? I thought so. That says a lot about this game or developer.

Thank you! I was careful to put Snowrunner on SSD not HDD, but didn't realise it was saving my game to HDD anyway. Symlink resolved issue perfectly.

Thanks @Miki - worked a treat for me. Much appreciated. Shame the devs can't sort this one out at source, because it's not the hardest problem in the world to solve, but I guess they have other things on their list. Cheers for the solution, though.
