The Story: Point of Contact

Nearly three hundred million years before the emergence of human life, the volcanic Earth was inhabited by a large network of humanoid species, later known as "Cryptids", connected through a web of symbiotic relationships. The primordial life force on the planet, the Cryptids' intelligence was unmatched, their brains similar to that of a human, allowing them to coordinate and communicate between themselves. The source of their power was the large fungal colonies they cultivated and protected, which emitted pheromones stimulating the creatures' cold-blooded metabolism. Due to rapid cellular regeneration and the reliance on geothermal heat rather than sunlight, the colonies were nearly invincible to any forms of attack, further contributing to the Cryptids' survivability.

After a comet impacted the Earth and incinerated the atmosphere, the creatures were forced to migrate beneath the surface in the wake of the firestorm that left the planet devoid of life. Using the volcanic heat found underground to fuel their colonies once more, the Cryptids displayed frightening Natural Selection and continued their survival beneath the dying Earth. However, adapting to their new subterranean environment initially proved difficult, their masters unable to successfully deliver their commands to the Cryptid population. In secrecy, the masters forged obelisks out of hardened obsidian rock later known as "Arks", using a language of algorithmic codes inscribed to broadcast their commands. Each colony of Cryptids received an Ark, allowing the masters to control their legions internationally. To ensure that their communication would never be severed, the masters bred an aquatic guardian to protect the Arks; out of fear forces that sought to exterminate their species would attack them. For one hundred and fifty million more years, humanity became oblivious of the Cryptid ecosystem living below their feet.

In the midst of the Tel Aviv War in the 21st century, David Archer, a top shooter with the Special Air Service, led a six-man kill team in Swat Valley, Pakistan, intending to be extracted after their mission went awry. Instead, their operator denied in order to avoid diplomatic incidents with the country, leaving Archer and his men stranded in a series of caves for six weeks. Before being rescued through unknown means, Archer came into contact with a colony of Cryptids, and since became obsessed with discovering their secrets. Following his return to the United States and psychological evaluation, it was believed Archer's head wound in combat lead him to imagine meeting with what he described as "aliens", but he nonetheless continued his hunt to find the truth behind the creatures.

Having gathered a large group of elite scientists, Archer founded the Nightfall based out of Point Barrow, Alaska, planning on locating and capturing samples of Cryptid life forms. The project's generous benefactors believed Nightfall invested in biochemical weaponry, and the Cryptid samples they acquired were the resulting products. In reality, Archer sought a means to sever the control of the creatures' unseen masters and take command of the Cryptids themselves, hoping they would lead his team to the discovery of other global colonies. After an archeological dig of a Cryptid meteor revealed the creatures' hieroglyphic language, Archer realized the complicated translations that would have to be made in order to uncover the secrets of the Cryptids. Meanwhile, Dr. Samantha Cross became a rising star at Harvard College due to her neurological condition that allowed her to easily translate languages in minutes, allowing her to speak 28 different languages. Following an interview airing on her unique abilities in paleolinguistics, Arch quickly found Cross to be a necessary addition to his team, allowing the ancient language of the Cryptids to be quickly translated. Just a week later, Cross was brought to the head Nightfall facility, where she was employed by Archer to assist in his research.

Months later, Federation forces hijacked the ODIN Space Station, launching an ODIN Strike that decimated the American North and Southwest. While the surviving astronauts aboard the station managed to keep the rest of the missiles at bay and leave the remaining United States mostly unscathed, a stray missile hit the volcanic site of Caldera Peak in Colorado, revealing the colony of Cryptids living within it. Now once again emerged on the Earth, the creatures began a massacre of the town's residents, slaughtering hundreds in what appeared to be a mystery virus. Dispatching the CIF Team 4, a squad of the Rapid Reaction Force, to investigate the quarantined zone, the government learned of the strange new breed, and dubbed them aliens after the disappearance of the squad.

To ensure the outbreak was contained, a Task Force codenamed Spectre was sent to exterminate the Cryptids via a nuclear explosion under the command of Defense Intelligence Agency's General Castle. As the operation was organized, the rumors of an alien threat floated to the Nightfall Program, prompting Archer to investigate Caldera Peak for himself. At the site of the missile impact, he and his men located a large colony of Cryptids as well as one of their telepathic Arks, all of which were smuggled out to Point Barrow to be used in research. While Nightfall pondered over their newfound data, Task Force Spectre began the eradication of the invading Cryptids, using an automated drill to target their fungal colonies and eventually obliterate the remaining creatures with a nuclear strike ordered by the President. With the mission complete, the government assumed the Cryptid threat had been dealt with, and focused their attentions on the Federation War.

Loadout
Extinction is a gamemode based heavily on the idea of teamwork. You and your 3 colleagues must work together in order to eradicate the Cryptid species. It will not be an easy task, and you must rely on each other to complete each mission. Deviating from working with your team could land your entire squadron being torn apart by the vicious Cryptids.

One of the first things you'll take a look at in Extinction will likely be your Loadout screen. You will immediately notice, "Wait, this doesn't look like my multiplayer loadouts. What gives?". Extinction's loadouts are built off of 6 different loadout sects: Class, Pistol, Deployable Ammo Type, Team Support, Strike Package, and your Equalizer. Each of these must be set in certain combinations in order to secure your extraction from the Cryptid infestation.

Classes:

This is the classification of your soldier. Each class will give you specific advantages to use for yourself, or for the good of your team.

  • Weapon Specialist: This is the first class available to you. As a weapon specialist, you will have 20% bonus weapon damage. This can help a lot more than you may think. When fully upgraded, you will have faster reload times, hip-to-ADS, and weapon switching. On top of that, you will have +50% more weapon damage, and 50% less bullet spread. Often, experienced players will play as a Weapon Specialist in solo play.
  • Tank: A very self-explanatory class, and the second one you will unlock. The tank will start out with 50% more health, and when fully upgraded will grant the player 100% more health than the base health, and 100% more melee damage with their knife or riot shield.
  • Engineer: A very important class among the group. The engineer will give the drill an HP count of 125 hits, and will earn the player +25% more cash per kill. When fully upgraded, the Engineer can repair the drill 50% faster, traps will last twice as long, traps will earn more money, and you will have an increased wallet of $8000 in comparison to the original $6000.
  • Medic: Most of the time, one of the backbones of your team's success. This will allow you to revive your teammates quickly, and when fully upgraded, you will take less damage when reviving teammates, will give your entire team unlimited sprint, faster health regen, and give you invulnerability to idle Scorpion clouds.

Pistols:
All pistols follow the same upgrade route: when upgraded once, it adds a muzzle brake, increasing long-rage damage. When upgraded twice, it increases the magazine size. When upgraded three times, it will allow the player to carry two primary weapons alongside their pistol, and when upgraded the fourth and final time, you will be able to dual wield two of your pistol type.

P226: The first pistol available to the player in the game. It contains a 12-round magainze, and when upgraded to have an increased magainze size, an 18-round mag. It is the least used pistol among experienced players.

44 Magnum: The second pistol available in the game. Like the P226, it is not used as often as the final unlockable pistol. The magnum features a 6-round clip, and when upgraded to have a larger one, a 9-round clip. It can kill a Scout cryptid in 2-3 shots. Players who are very good at being accurate may prefer this weapon over the MP-443. This weapon is my personal favorite.

M9A1 Burst: The third unlockable pistol in the game. Unlike its multiplayer counterpart, the M9A1 pistol is a 3-round burst weapon. It features an 18 round magainze, which can be upgraded to be a 27 round magazine. It seems to be used more often than the 44 Magnum and P226 handguns. It can kill a Scout cryptid in 1-2 bursts.

MP-443 Grach: The final unlockable pistol in the game. This pistol is the most widely used pistol among experienced players. Unlike the multiplayer version, it is a completely full automatic pistol, which makes it obvious as to why people would use this pistol over any other. It features a 15-round magazine, and when upgraded, a 22-round magazine. This is the most favorable pistol in the game.

Ammo Types:
Ammo is in very short supply in Extinction, and therefore is EXTREMELY valuable to the players. One or two players should be assigned per a game to deploy ammo on a regular basis, otherwise you will definitely run into shortage problems and will ultimately probably die.
NOTE: All non-regular types of ammo will only supply 70% of the weapon's maximum ammunition when fully upgraded.

Regular Ammunition: Does what it says on the tin. Regular ammunition is the regular ammo you recieve when purchasing a weapon for the first time. When fully upgraded, it will refill the player's clip within a 20ft radius of where the box was deployed, and will also completely fill the player's ammo to the brim when they take ammo from the box.

Stun Ammo: The first special ammo type available in the game. On hit, it will temporarily stun the alien you have hit.
Fire Ammo: The second special ammo type available in the game. When you hit a cryptid, it will light the victim aflame, leaving them burning for around 5-10 seconds, dealing fire damage.
Explosive Ammo: The third special ammo type available in the game. It deals fire damage on hit, but will not keep the Cryptid aflame. Most people use this ammo type due to the fact that it will hurt groups of cryptids, as when it hits the floor or any alien, it will deal a small 5-foot radius of damage.
Armor-Piercing Ammo: The final ammo type available in the game, and my personal favorite. It completely ignores a Cryptid's armor, making you deal regular damage every time you hit, instead of having your bullets blocked or reflective by their armored faceplates.

Team Support:
Team support deployables are special objects that your team can equip in order to assist them quickly. There are five different types of Team Support.

Team Explosives: The first available Team Support deployable. It will allow you to drop a crate of explosives to your team, starting with Semtex, and as you upgrade it, Canister Bombs, Bouncing Betties, Claymores, and more.
Feral Instincts: The second available Team Support deployable, it is a short booster that will allow all of the players to see Cryptids through the walls, and when upgraded, will provide faster movement speed, faster health regen, and increased sprint time.
Armor: The third available Team Support deployable. It is absolutely required to have an Armor deployable on your team, and it is required to complete a Solo playthrough. As it is upgraded, it will increase the amount of armor it gives you by 25% each time, ending at 125%. Armor is very important, as it shields you against Cryptid attacks.
Team Booster: The fourth available Team Support deployable. It will increase weapon handling by 100% for 15 seconds when deployed. When fully upgraded, it will increase weapon handling and drill repair for 60 seconds instead of the usual 15. Some players may find this very useful, especially those with weapons that have long reload times.
Random Supplies: The final available Team Support deployable. It will deploy a completely random crate of supplies, including any Team Support deployable and things like flares and hypno knives. It is normally not used unless someone is not required to have a type of deployable.

Loadout Pt. 2
Strike Packages:
A mostly offensive type of deployable. These deployables are mostly for personal use, and can be used to defend the players from oncoming attacks.

I.M.S.: The first available Strike Package in the game, it functions exactly like that of Multiplayer: when an enemy is in range, it will fire an explosive at that enemy. It has a maximum of 4 explosives contained in it, and when fully upgraded, can have a maximum of 6 explosives, as well as larger range and faster detonation time.
Mortar Fire: The second available Strike Package in the game. It is not used as often as the rest, as it is more of a quick reaction use type of Strike Package. When used, 3 mortars will strike on your location dealing medium damage. Each upgrade level increases that mortar count by one, and increases the damage by 25%. When fully upgraded, it will fire 6 mortars, and do 125% total damage.
Trinity Rocket: It works exactly like that of the Multiplayer Trinity Rocket. The player will pull out a tablet, and will be able to manually direct this rocket into the oncoming Cryptid threat. Fully upgraded, you can deploy 4 targeting drone missiles onto the Cryptids. Not widely used.
Sentry Gun: It works exactly like that of its Multiplayer counterpart. When deployed, it has a fairly slow firing rate, but when fully upgraded, it will have double the firing rate, twice the range, 30% more overall damage, armor-piercing ammo, and you will be allowed to use two of these. This is the most widely used Strike Package in the game.
Vulture Drone: The final unlockable Strike Package. It is used semi-often, but not as often as the Sentry Gun. It will deploy a personal Vulture Drone, which will fire on Cryptids. The Cryptids are completely unable to attack the Drone, as it hovers in mid-air. When fully upgraded, it will have improved targeting, double the damage to Cryptids, longer range, longer deploy time, and will occasionally fire an incindeary rocket.

Equalizers:
Equalizers are small additions you can purchase for a low price. These include things that will greatly assist you in your survival throughout the mission. These are strictly personal deployables.

Portable Turret: The first available Equalizer, this is a portable turret that the player must use manually. It can be moved from place to place. It is not that widely used. When fully upgraded, it will have a very quick spin-up time, ammo that pierces through enemy faceplates, increased ammo, and armor-piercing explosive ammo. (woah, ain't that a combo.)
Portable Grenade Turret The second available Equalizer, it is a small grenade turret that the player can man and move around much like the Portable Turret. It is certainly more used than the Portable Turret, since it fires grenades. When fully upgraded, it will have a lot more ammo, be equipped with Incindeary rockets, fire much more quickly, and an increased explosive radius.
Riot Shield: The third available Equalizer, and my personal favorite. It is one of the most used equalizers, as it can be used to cover your back, and does the damage twice that of a knife hit. When fully upgraded, it will have 25 health, fast weapon switch and melee times, and will ignite enemies when you hit them with it.
MK32 Grenade Launcher "War Machine": The fourth available Equalizer, it is a 6-round grenade launcher that the player can use to combat cryptids. When fully upgraded, it comes equipped with a blast shield so that the player cannot cause self damage, larger explosive radius and damage, fire grenades, faster movement speed, and a 12 round magazine. This is a fairly largely used Equalizer.
Death Machine: The final available Equalizer, it is a portable minigun that the player can equip as a handheld weapon. When fully upgraded, it has a faster spin-up time, dampened recoil, a 200 round magainze, and armor-piercing fire bullets.

Bonus Bit: Relics:
Relics are a small addition to the game for players that have Prestiged. Prestiging will not remove all of the unlocks you have achieved, it is simply there to give you a fancy logo. You will automatically prestige after finishing Lv. 30. Relics are there to intentionally hinder the player, but will grant you +25% XP for every relic you have equipped in a playthrough. Relics will only apply to the players that have them equipped.

Take More Damage: Take more damage when injured.
Pistols Only: The player cannot purchase any weapons or pick up any special weapons, i.e. the Venom-X, that are given to the player. They can still use their Strike Packages and Equalizers, though.
Smaller Wallet: The player will earn 25% less overall cash, and will have a wallet of only $3000.
Mortal: The player cannot select any class type. It is recommended to play with a team when you are using this relic.
Deal Less Damage: The player will deal overall less damage to the aliens.

Use this as a reference to learn what you should use in Extinction, and how you can be helpful to your team.
Maps: Point of Contact

Point of Contact features the basics of Extinction: there are three main sections of the map where the Hives must be drilled to destroy, players protect the drill from waves of Cryptids, and the encounters become more difficult as they progress towards the end. The first few rounds usually consist of mainly Scouts, later into the second section Scorpions, Hunters, and Seekers start appearing, and in the third section Rhinos require a lot of team work to take down. Players can purchase weapons and search piles for equipment to aid them in their objective. Completing Challenges rewards players skill points to spend to upgrade their classes and abilities. Once they reach the final area players activate the nuclear countdown and must run all the way back to the first area and exfil on the helicopter, while at the same time run away from the hordes of Cryptids that suddenly appear en masse. Point of Contact can be considered the "Prototype" map, as it was an experiment to see how players would enjoy the gamemode. The experiment was a success, and the developers went on to create Nightfall.

To conclude Point of Contact, there are a total of fourteen Hives that must be destroyed (two of which require aid from a helicopter). After destroying the fourteenth and final Hive, the players must arm a nuclear device simultaneously. Thereafter, they will have a total of four minutes to rendezvous at the starting point of their mission for extraction. During this period of time, a massive amount of Cryptids will be pursuing them. Once they have reached the starting point, a helicopter will be waiting to extract them. As the players escape in the helicopter, the nuclear device will explode in the distance.

Maps: Nightfall

Nightfall is a map from the Extinction game mode and takes place in a snowy, deserted Alaskan base. It includes two new Cryptids. The first is the Phantom. While jumping, the Phantom is rendered invisible to the players. The second is called the Breeder, which is the second largest boss in the game so far, the first largest being the Kraken. The Breeder takes on the appearance of a large, spider-like creature. Introduced in Nightfall is a new weapon, the Venom-X, that gets its ammo from Scorpions and shoots acid similar to that of Scorpions. It does not take up a weapon slot. There are two known main characters: Dr. Samantha Cross and Cpt. David Archer, as well as the team that the players control. In the ending cutscene, an unknown Cryptid is seen, which teases the next map of Extinction.

Nightfall appears to be much more difficult than "Point of Contact". The more confined and urbanated spaces allow for much unpredictable and stealthy activity by the Cryptids. Also, because there is no helicopter to call in for support, and instead of barrier hives and facing only Scouts and Scorpions, players face the Breeder, which has extremely deadly attacks and also spawns additional Scouts and Seekers to attempt to disrupt any player trying to kill it.

Nightfall also appears to lack the Propane Tanks that were featured in "Point of Contact." As a substitute, telephone wires have detonatabe capsules that explode when shot, giving off a stronger projected explosion than the Fuel Canisters. There are also red barrels that can be blown up as an alternative.

Rather than barrier hives, a "Breeder" Cryptid boss is featured at the end of the first area and as the final boss of the map. Players must shoot the creature's head (not the face, but the forehead) to damage it and lower its health until complete diminishment. The boss uses a variety of attacks to kill the players. If the player gets too close, the Breeder will attack with its giant claws, doing large amounts of damage when hit. The most known attack is its rapid-needle attack; the Breeder will glow red before it fires, players must seek cover to prevent getting hit. The Breeder will spawn eggs which will birth Scouts, Hunters, and Seekers to disrupt the players from their main objective; players will have to shoot the eggs to prevent such hazards. From its tail, it will fire red gas clouds, similar to that of the Scorpion (it will crouch before doing this attack). Turrets are not as helpful as players will hope, because they shoot center mass rather than its weakspots.

Maps: Mayday

Mayday is the third map and second episode of the Extinction saga. Mayday takes place on the Chinese ship where Nightfall's epilogue left off. The objective is to infiltrate the ship, take out the hives and rescue Dr. Samantha Cross from David Archer. Mayday brings two new Cryptids, the Seeder and the Kraken. The Seeder, much like the Scorpion, shoots toxic gas. The Seeder will also fire pods that can grow into mutated plants that are turret-like in nature. The Kraken is the monstrous Cryptid shown at the end of Nightfall's epilogue. For the first time in Extinction, it is also possible to craft items, including some that change the properties of the Venom-X. Mayday was released on April 3rd in the Devastation DLC for Xbox players, and will be released a month later for PlayStation and PC players.

Cryptids
The Cryptids are your primary enemy in Extinction. They are the name of the species that you are killing en masse. There are many different types of Cryptids, and this chapter is designed to tell you what each of them do.

Scouts: The most basic of the Cryptid species, and are met on every hive. They do minimal damage, and only take a few shots to kill. They will reward the player $60 as the base reward for a non-critical and non-armored kill.

Hunters: A direct upgrade to the Scout, they are met after the first Barrier Hive on Point of Contact, and after the 2nd hive on Nightfall. They have much more health in comparison to Scouts, as well as doing 2-3x the damage, and tearing down the drill's health in seconds. It is important to take them off of the drill if they do appear. They have armored faceplates that are much stronger than that of the Scout's.

Scorpion: Most experienced players will say these are the MOST ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ANNOYING Cryptid species in the game. They will appear on the first Barrier Hive in Point of Contact, and after the 3rd hive in Nightfall. They shoot a yellow cloud of gas that will stay there persistently and do continuous damage to the player until they leave the cloud. You can score critical hits on them by hitting the glowing yellow areas. Scorpions will often hang on to walls in order to attack you, and will constantly jump around to avoid your shots. They do not have melee attacks, so they will always spit their goo at you.

Rhino: Rhinos are one of the strongest regular enemies in Extinction. They are heavily armored, and are best combatted with Armor-Piercing ammunition. They will take many shots to kill, but will reward the player with $1,000 in the event of killing one. They have a unique charge attack where they will roll up into a ball and quickly charge the player, knocking them down to around half health. They also have a secondary attack in which they will regularly charge the player, and if they hit a wall, will fall over, showing their vulnerable underbelly. They cannot be hypno-knifed like other enemies. They will start to spawn on the 2nd Barrier Hive of Point of Contact if the player does not complete that hive within 8 minutes, and will first appear on the first hive of the cabin area. On Nightfall, they will start appearing on the 6th hive the player completes.

Seekers: Seekers are featured in all Extinction maps. They spawn in using meteors, which are marked by lightning bolts striking the ground shortly before they rocket in. Three to four seekers will spawn per a meteor, and immediately attempt to seek out the players. They are a suicide alien, and will run up at you and explode. They have a minimal amount of health and will die quickly due to the fact that they are explosive. They award the player with around $100 per kill.

Phantom: Phantoms only appear in Nightfall and Mayday, and take on the appearance of a Hunter, but with a blue glow. They do an extreme amount of damage when hitting a player, and will turn invisible when jumping around. They take half as many shots to kill in comparison to a Rhino, and can be hypno-knifed, making them a valuable hypno-knife target. On Nightfall, they will appear 3/4ths of the way through the 3rd hive.

Seeders: Seeders only appear in Mayday thus far, and take on the appearance of a Seeker, but with a yellow egg sac instead. They act like scorpions, and will occasionally spurt goo down that you should avoid. However, more often than the goop, they'll spawn down turrets. These turrets will die in only a few hits, but they will deal tremendous damage to you, tearing straight through your armor in seconds. They can plant down an infinite number of turrets, so it is urgent to kill them immediately.
Super Cryptids
Super Cryptids are tough, large Cryptids that often are featured at the ends of their respective maps. They will call on smaller Cryptids for back-up to assist in killing you as quickly and efficiently as possible. Each Super Cryptid is on its own map, and a new one is typically introduced with each map. Venom-X shots are not effective against Super Cryptids, and normally you must wait for an opportune moment to do damage to them. It is assumed that multiple Super Cryptids exist storyline wise.

Breeder: The Breeder is the first mentioned and first encountered Super Cryptid. The first time you encounter it will be at the Nightfall Facility, in the second map of the Extinction season: Nightfall. It is first seen at the beginning of the game, when the Breeder comes down and jabs the last remaining survivor of the Nightfall Incident in the back, killing him near instantly, dropping the Maverick Assault Rifle.

The player will first fight the Breeder after completing four hives in the first area of Nightfall. It will raise out of a snow pile, hiss at you, and then begin to attack.

How to kill the Breeder (First Encounter):
Doing damage to the Breeder can only be done at one point: on its head in the glowing red areas. The Breeder is armored thickly all over its body, making Armor Piercing ammo useless against it. During the first encounter, the Breeder will stay stationary, making it an easy target. Simply shoot the Breeder in the head until the health bar hits zero, and it will evacuate the area.

The Breeder's Attacks:
The Breeder only has four attacks, three of which are used in the first encounter.
Rapid Fire (Homing): The first attack, which is normally used first in both encounters, is the rapid fire of a strange type of bullet which can tear through you quickly. Getting hit by any of these shots is very deadly. The Breeder will glow bright red and crouch down, revealing two arms on his back, which will shoot at you for a short amount of time. She will always aim at any player, so it is highly recommended to take cover. Riot Shields will get destroyed almost instantly by these shots.
Red Mist: The Breeder will crouch down and fire hives into the air, one every three or so seconds, until it deploys three hives. These hives will explode in mid-air, and shoot down clouds of red gas which act as scoprion goo, but deal a lot more damage and last a lot longer. When it does this attack, the Breeder's head stays in the same position, making it a very easy target for you to attack. It is recommended to deal the most damage during this time. These mist clouds typically last until it shoots them again.
Rapid Fire (Spray): Just like the first attack, except it sprays across the battlefield in order to attack all four players. This will last a very long time, and it is recommended for players to take cover in a group to defend against the onslaught of cryptids.
Egg Toss: The final attack, and will often come immediately after the Red Mist attack, the Breeder shoots 2-4 eggs into the air, depending on how many players you have in the game.

How to kill the Breeder (Finale): Two new things are introduced during the Finale of Nightfall. After taking enough damage (about 1/4th of its health in chunks), the Breeder will fall over, and one of the egg sacs on its chest will light up. If you destroy these egg sacs, it will do a tremendous amount of damage, as opposed to simply shooting her in the face. After destroying an egg sac, the Breeder will scream and immediately come back to her claws, instantaenously trying to stab the player.
Another thing that occurs is, when the Breeder hits half health, it will be invincible for a short time and retreat on top of the roof on the west side of the compound. At this point, the player will encounter 3 Rhinos (1 in solo), and a huge wave of Cryptids. The player will need to defeat all 3 Rhinos for the Breeder to come back down. After this the Breeder will return to its original attack cycle. Upon killing the Breeder, make sure nobody is down before she's completey dead--otherwise, the mission will not be counted as completed for them. The game will end, and the players will be returned to the main menu. Congratulations on beating the Breeder for your first time!

Kraken: COMING SOON :3
Bonus Stuff: Control Setup
This is a purely optional section, and this is normally what setup I use for controls when playing the game. The only controls I am recommending are the ones labeled Killstreak Slot 1-4. These are modified so that your numpad will line up with the small HUD element in the bottom right corner showing what items you can deploy. This way, your numpad's numbers will correspond with the arrows listed in the bottom right, i.e. Up would be Keypad 8. This makes all deployables fairly simple and quick to access.

Above: Recommended Control Setup

Above: Nightfall, picture use is intended to show you what HUD element I am talking about.

Another small thing you might notice is that you only have one "switch weapon" button, which could cause some severe difficulties playing Extinction, considering you can have up to 6 things equipped in weapon slots at a time: 2 primaries, 1 pistol, 1 SOFLAM, 1 Venom-X, and 1 Riot Shield. Only being able to switch in one direction could hinder your reaction time.

There is a fix for this!
Ghosts still runs on the IW engine, which is expected. Is that a bad thing? Not really. All of your Valve games still run on the Source engine. This makes it easy for me to look back into older games and see their control variables. Because of this, I managed to fix an issue with the weapon switching.

First, change your "weapon switch" button in the Options menu to what you want your "next weapon" button to be, most likely Mouse Wheel Down. After changing this control, close the game.

Next, navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty Ghosts\players2", and open the keys_mp.cfg, preferably with Notepad++.

You should see a line labeled something like "bind MWHEELDOWN "weapnext" ", copy that line to be at the bottom of the document and change the control to whatever you want, most likely MWHEELUP. After you've changed the control binding, change "weapnext" to "weapprev". Your keys_mp.cfg should now look somewhat like this at the bottom of the document:

Save the document, and launch the game. Once you obtain more than 2 weapon slots, try switching forward and backward through weapons. You should now be able to switch in your desired direction.
Bonus Stuff: Looking for a good teammate?
I'm always up for playing Extinction, as it is my favorite part of Ghosts. I play it extremely often, and have fun every time when I do. If you're looking for a good teammate, feel free to contact me through a comment or a friend request. Most of the time when people pair up with me, they make it through the mission, even on low ranks. Please make sure your in-game voice chat is enabled, as well as your in-game text chat, otherwise it will become very difficult to play.

I don't want to be rude to people, but when I'm in the middle of a game, I'll normally never leave it. No exceptions, sorry.
