Crusader Universalis - 1.8.1

Welcome to Crusader Universalis! A mod that brings two paradox game concepts, Europa Universalis IV and Crusader Kings III, into one single mod. Combining character focused gameplay with state building gameplay will bring an unique experience. While keeping and improving the depth of stories and characters we intend to extend far beyond that with interesting mechanics. Think of things like trade and economy, naval warfare and greatly expanded governments mechanics.

Crusader Universalis expands the map to cover all of the world. Enjoy playing as a count of the Holy Roman Empire or conquer the world with the nation and dynasty of your choosing! Its all in your hands!



Rumours of Ottoman weakness caused Pope Eugene IV to call for a crusade against them in 1443. With the West still embroiled in the Hundred Years War, the King of Hungary and Poland, Wladyslav III, took on the cause to finally expel the scourge of Christendom from Europe. Led by general John Hunyadi, The White Knight, the Hungarian army saw some initial success, but was ultimately defeated. The abdicated Sultan Murad II came back to aid his son and led the Ottoman army to victory at the battle of Varna where King Wladyslav was killed. Peace was eventually signed but the way for further Ottoman expansion into Eastern Europe now lay open...

Although the threat of a Turkish invasion is looming in the east the european monarchs are mostly unfazed and preoccupied with what they deem important.

Treaty of the Roses
An uneasy truce it's reached between a mad man and a dark horse. King Henry VI can only laugh as England has no heir yet, his sanity ever closer to disappearing and his country two steps from hell. Charles VII, resurging from the ashes of the maiden, has his eyes set on taking back his birthright, by law or by sword. Amidst this embroiling war, Phillip the Good deftly maneuvers himself between two clashing titans. As the richest man in Europe, his ambitions cannot be shadowed by a liege other than himself, and whatever he decides now could spell the future of Europe.

Everywhere, from the mightiest kings to the smallest of counts plot quietly to have the final laugh.

Habsburg Hegemony
Friedrich III holds the reins of a ever-crumbling kingdom. The Italian states see little reason to serve him behind the protection of The Alps, not to mention the Swiss. The Ottomans creep closer, and the very light of Christianity dims as, behinds dark alleys and closed doors, the very pillars of beliefs start to sway. But not all hope is lost. If there's one man who can save the empire, is be the emperor. While other nations do battle, you wed.

But take care you are not the one being wed out.



After many months of concepts and trials we now have a good base for Crusader Universalis. Since then we have started work on mapping the world, starting in Western Europe. The areas of the British Isles, France, Iberia, the Holy Roman Empire, Italy, Scandinavia, Poland, Lithuania, Hungary and the Balkans have been partly to completely finished in terms of province and character mapping.

Besides that individual members of the team has started to branch out to work on mapping areas such as the Middle East, India, Indonesia, Japan, Central America and big parts of the Eastern Seaboard. We always applaud our team members to pursue their passion for certain regions or subjects.

Note: The mod is currently in a Public Alpha. After many months the team has agreed that we wish to release the work we currently have. This will allow constant updates to you as we refine and add content across the globe. This allows for you to give us a constant stream of feedback to process and improve the gameplay. This will, in our opinion, be the best route to take to release the mod somewhere in the near future. To reiterate and summarize; this mod is in Alpha and thus very much a work in progress and possibly unstable. Leave your feedback, good or bad, by joining our Discord.
