Tundra Megamap
By RestrainedRaptor
This map contains the locations of every optional objective, black box, emergence event and golden egg in the game. If you're struggling to complete a particular contract, or want to plan an efficient speedrun route, this guide is for you. It also adds a few missing landmarks that aren't on the in-game map.

Introduction
Although the megamap is based heavily on the in-game map, there are some significant changes I have made to it:
  • All bridges have been added.
  • Lata Plains south power station structures have been included.
  • The locations of the ships in Tineis Harbor have been corrected (they are wrong on the in-game map).
Objective Details
This megamap is intended to show every possible optional objective in the game. However, there are some rules that govern which of them will actually spawn during a mission. For objectives that only spawn in certain threat levels, the icons in the megamap are tinted green, orange and red accordingly.

Details
Insertion/Extraction Points
All
Always present. You cannot deploy in a high-threat area. The higher the threat level, the longer the raft will take to arrive. High-threat extraction points contain fewer equipment kits and if you wish to extract at one, it must be repaired first.
Camps
All
Always present. In high-threat areas, they must be cleared of goo before activating, and will have fewer supplies.
Radar Relays
All
Always present. In high-threat areas, they must be cleared of goo before activating, and occasionally need a fuse kit.
Supply Containers
All
There are two spawn patterns of 3 containers per region. They are marked with A or B on each icon. Large containers that require four boosters are worth more research points than the smaller ones.
Invaded Locations
All
Also known as 'clear the area' and only present on expedition mode. Always in the same named locations.
Raptor Traps
Low
One per region.
Nesting Grounds
Low
One per region. The number of eggs in each nest are always the same at each site.
Hollows
Medium
One per region.
Stranded Dropships
Medium
One per region.
Infestations
High
One per region. Each infestation has five burrows.
Rexes
High
Up to one per region, but not guaranteed.
Dropship Wrecks
High
One per region. Each wreck is associated with three possible black boxes, which are shown by dotted lines on the megamap.
Black Boxes
High
Linked to specific dropship wreckages. May sometimes lie outside the boundaries of the region in which the wreck was found. Will never appear on the in-game map, even when found.
Emergence Events
Highest
Always in the same place until the next world update. Active events are always visible on the world map anyway, but the different events are shown here for completeness since they cycle frequently.
Golden Egg
All
Only one golden egg will spawn on the map in each mission. Destroying it will provide a large amount of random loot.
The Maps
The maps are pretty large, at 2750x2750 pixels and just under 2MB (which is the maximum file size for Steam guides). If you want the large (5500x5500) versions, you can get it on my Stash[sta.sh].

Map A

Map A shows all the main landmarks and optional objectives.

Map B

Map B contains all the emergence events that have been observed in past world updates, along with the known locations for the golden eggs.

Contributions
The Megamap is the result of many dozens of playthroughs since pre-season 2. We believe the map to be complete at this point. However, things could still be added or changed in future updates, as we've seen in previous patches.

Things I might consider adding in the future...
  • Tunnel paths and main roads
  • Locations for ammo and equipment kits
  • Additional details for each campaign mission
  • Flight paths for the drones
My preferred method of communication is Discord. Join the Second Extinction server[discord.gg] and you'll find me there.

If you find something new while in-game, please do the following to make your submission as useful as possible:
  • Use the Steam screenshot feature or other screen grabbing tools. Don't take a photo of your monitor!
  • I need a screenshot of the map, at the highest or second-highest zoom level (use mousewheel to zoom in). It should also be centered on the item/objective.
  • I will also need a screenshot of the item/objective in context. For small objects like supplies or black boxes, you should be standing a few meters away from it. For hollows, dropships and larger objects, the entire thing should be visible. Take the shots from whatever angle gives the best view of the surrounding landmarks, such as buildings and roads.
  • Both your screenshots should be taken from the exact same location. You should not move or turn between taking the two! Example screenshots are below.

Credits
Many thanks to Ando for all the time he's put into unravelling the mysteries of SE's game mechanics. You can find his video guides on his YouTube channel.
  • Finding and documenting all the black boxes.
  • Working out the pattern for supply container and other optional objective spawns.
  • Discovering three out of the four golden eggs.
  • Play-testing and proof-reading with me.
  • And much more!
Change Log
Changes in V10 (10 Dec 2021)
  • Updated several black box locations that were changed in pre-season 5 or 6.
  • Faded out black box locations that are currently unused. I am awaiting confirmation from the devs about whether this is a bug or if they've been intentionally and permanently removed.
  • Moved the emergence events to a new second megamap, since there are now so many.
  • This new second map also contains the four currently known golden egg locations (3 discovered by Ando).
  • Added more banshee, ambush and mist emergence events for pre-seasons 6-7.
Changes in V9 (13 July 2021)
  • Updated location of some black boxes in Nova Ridge, Tineis Harbor and Magna Petram which were changed in 0.5.
  • Updated region boundary line between West Altum Valley and Tineis Harbor.
  • Added Dasher Ambush emergence events to Tineis Harbor and Nova Ridge.

@Ancestor Yes, I've considered doing that too, though it wasn't until the seasonal contract TMO came out that this information would've been useful to anyone. In the meantime, if you want to find drones more easily, play Charged Extraction, because it will automatically show you drones within 750m of you instead of the usual 200m.
