Flow Weaver Walkthrough

This is a walkthrough for the puzzles in Flow Weaver with as little detail about the story as possible so that isn't spoiled for you. Each section covers the puzzles in each Flow. Puzzles in Flow Weaver can somewhat be solved in any order you want, but this approach is the least amount of back and forth. Have fun though! Only use this guide as a last-resort when you're stuck. It really is rewarding to observe the settings, listen to dialogue, and pay attention to clues to solve the puzzles on your own.

Basic Controls & Tips Before Starting
Before you start:
  • Flow Weaver is a seated VR Game but I still highly recommend enabling Guardian before you play
  • Once you get through the introductory scene and are placed into the lighthouse cell, double-check the height/reach of everything and recalibrate your view if necessary

Basic Controls

Open Planar Compass - Press X or A

Meditate - Press Y or B
***Meditate often for clues on what can be interacted with

Skip Dialogue - Press down on left thumbstick. This is NOT listed in the controls section, but if you are playing through Flow Weaver multiple times or have to play through unsaved progress, then skipping dialogue can be handy. A lot of the dialogue contains clues on what to do in the game so make sure you listen to every line at least once.

Dream Thoughts
Once you get through the opening sequence and are transported to the lighthouse you will open the Planar Compass and notice purple bubbles floating above you. Pulling on these will give you tidbits of the story and the main character's inner thoughts. Remember to check back often (once you access new areas, or do something important) and play any new dream thoughts. There are often clues in there to help you with the game.

Meditation
The meditation ability is pretty important. Don't forget to make use of it in each new Flow you unlock so you can see points of interest. If you ever get lost, it's helpful to check your Dream Thoughts and the meditation points to see if you missed anything.

Puzzle 1: Find the Skeleton Head
Open the chest to your left and throw the skull towards the headless skeleton sitting across the room. You will get a finger bone to insert into the Planar Compass. That unlocks the Shadow Realm.

Puzzle 2: Opening the Metal Crate in Shadow Realm
Take the femur bone from the Shadow Realm and bring it back to Material World (Lighthouse). Use it to prop open the wooden chest from earlier. Go back to the Shadow Realm and the metal crate will be open

Rune Stone #1: Shadow Realm Stone
You need to collect rune stones to escape. The earliest one you can get is in Shadow Realm inside the metal crate. Bring it back to Material World and drop it into your binding circle.

Puzzle 3: Lighting Candles in Lighthouse
Burn away cobwebs and light candles on a shelf using a dead branch you can find in the Shadow Realm. The dead branch is hidden in the arch to your left. If you have trouble spotting it, use meditate to pinpoint it's location. Lighting the candles will trigger something in the Feylands. Sometimes the candles get blown out between travel times, so just follow these steps to relight them.

Puzzle 4: Access the Feylands
This isn't really a puzzle, but if you noticed a glass butterfly in the rafters above you can now grab it with the Shadow Hand ability from the Shadow Realm. The butterfly unlocks a new area called The Feylands.

Getting the Faeries to Talk to You
Bring wine from the Lighthouse/Material World. It should spawn once you come back from the Shadow Realm

Puzzle 1: Commune + Firefly Message
Light the candles on the shelf in the Material World to spawn a cluster of fireflies in the Feylands. You will gain a spell called "Commune" which lets you talk to other creatures. Use that to talk to the Fireflies who will blink a 4 digit code: 2142. That is for the chest in the Material World.

Puzzle 2: Special Faerie Brew
Back in the Material World if you click on the torch and the candles to blow them out during the night time, a hidden message will appear on the wall behind the skeleton. It lists the ingredients for the Faerie Brew: Wine, Ectoplasm, Purple Flower.

Wine - wine will respawn in the Material World so bring a second bottle back to the faeries and put it in the pot

Ectoplasm - use Commune spell to talk to the beaver in The Feylands. It will dig up a bowl you can use to scoop up the gooey remains of the spirit in the Shadow Realm. Bring the bowl of ectoplasm back to the faeries and put it in their pot.

Purple Flower - Use the 4 digit code: 2142 on the chest in Material World. You will get a purple orb. Hang the orb on the hook on your right in the Material World. Go back to the Feylands and in the same spot you will see a purple flower has grown there. Put that flower into the pot.

The Faeries will take the special brew and give you a golden chalice which unlocks the Underworld

Puzzle 3: Acorn
If you dug up an acorn from the rubble in the Shadow Realm you can plant it in the plot of soil to your left in The Feylands. It won't grow until later so leave it there for now.
Underworld - Gear Puzzle

The Underworld is one giant puzzle so I will list the steps needed to get everything done:

Burn the rope tangled in the machinery
The dialogue will tell you that Shadow Hand spell seems to cause an overheating reaction in the Underworld. Use the Shadow Hand spell to burn the ropes twisting up the machine in 2 spots to your right.

Get the oil flask
You can't use Shadow Hand to grab the oil flasks from the conveyor belt because they explode. Burn the rope holding up the conveyor belt and it will drop, allowing the oil flasks to fall into a mine cart.
  • Make sure the skull's eye in front of you is light up on the left side. That means the mine cart will go along the left track when summoned
  • Pull out the gate to the left of the oil flask conveyor belt. The gate is timed to retract on its own
  • Pull down on the pulley above you to call a mine cart. If you pulled out the gate, it should stop the cart from moving just long enough for an oil flask to drop in
  • When the cart is by your side, use your regular hand to grab the oil flask to lubricate the lever on the leftside of your chair

Gear Puzzle
You can't progress further in the Underworld without solving the Gear Puzzle. Here's where to find all 5 gears:
  • Gears 1 & 2 should be easy to spot above you sitting on ceiling beams
  • Gear 3 is slightly hidden sitting on top of the machinery close to where you burned the old ropes.
  • Gear 4 is inside a small cave behind a gate which will open if you send a mine cart down the right-side track. Use the lever to switch the track to the right in order to access that cave.
  • Gear 5 is inside the quantum chest back in Material World. Press the red button on your pull-down console in Underworld. The 4 pipes in the distance will start rattling as items are dropped down. Count the number of drops per pipe to get a 4 digit code for the quantum chest: 1263
Use Meditate to see the possible spots to put gears. Once each gear is locked into the correct spot the game will autosave. You can't move a gear if it's in the right spot. When all 5 gears are correctly placed, they will all turn and the machine will power up the other gadgets in Underworld.

Obtain the Ray of Fire Spell
If you lubricated the lever connected to your chair, you can pull on it which will trigger a fiery gem to fall down. Put that gem in the polishing machine to your left. Now that there's power to the gadgets in the Underworld the machine will process the gem and turn it into a spell.

Rune Stone #2 - Underworld Stone
When you solved how to get the oil flask earlier you may have already grabbed a dull rock from the cart as well. Now that the Gear Puzzle is solved you should be able to stamp that rock with the gadget on your right to turn it into a rune stone. Insert the rune stone into the ring back in the Material World.

Rune Stone #3 - Material World Stone
If you have both Commune and Ray of Fire, you can get the rune stone in the Material World. Use Ray of Fire to burn down the boarded up wall. Use Commune to tell the rat to scratch at something inside the wall. A skeleton will fall and inside it's ribcage is a rune stone. Insert it into the ring of binding.
Skybridge Puzzles + Ending

How to Unlock Skybridge
Use the 4 digit code scratched on the wall behind the skeleton in Material World (5354). You will get a pink gem from the quantum chest. Put that gem into the lantern (found in the back left corner of the lighthouse). Hang the lantern on the hook to your left.

Flow to the Shadow Realm and a Shadow Dragon will have spawned. Use the Commune spell to talk to the dragon. He will give you a crystal from his eye socket.

That crystal is a portal key. Add it to your Planar Compass to unlock the Skybridge. Flow back to Material World.

Puzzle 1: Assemble the Ray Emitter
The pieces go in this order:
  • Orb
  • Semi circle casing for orb
  • Gold Funnel
  • Crystal lens (located on the small island to your right)

Puzzle 2: Moving the Islands
If the beam of light is pink, you need to change it purple first. Go back to Material World and place the purple orb on the hook to get a purple beam. When you go back to Skybridge you will see a holographic panel. Click on it to activate the astrolabe.

The astrolabe needs to reflect the pink beam. Go back to Material World and put the lantern on the hook to make the beam pink.

Use shadow hand to click on the mini points on the astrolabe rings to move the mountains until the pink beam is reflected down in the middle of the clouds. A big floating city will emerge and you will get the 'Control Weather' spell which summons rain.

Rune Stone #4: Skybridge Stone
Use Commune to talk to the pink bird on the small island to your right. If you don't see it there you may have to leave Skybridge and come back. The bird will fly off to collect something and drop it off on the small island. That's the rune stone. Grab it with Shadow Hand and take it back to the ring of binding.

Rune Stone #5: Feyland Stone
The last stone you can finally get is the Feylands one. Use Control Weather to make it rain in the Feylands. Flow to the Material World, then flow back to the Feylands to "make time pass". The acorn will have sprouted by now and it grew a tiny rune stone. Take the last rune stone to the ring of binding.

Unlocking a Hidden Flow
Listen to all of your dream thoughts up until now in order to trigger the discovery of another Flow. Follow the instructions of dragging all the spells into this new "blank flow"

Create Portal Key for Hidden Flow
  • Go to Underworld and make it rain
  • A lump of silver will drop from the cave
  • Use Ray of Fire to heat up the lump of silver
  • Flatten it into a sheet using the stamper gadget
  • Leave Underworld and take the sheet to Skybridge
  • Use Control Weather to summon rain and lightning to zap the metal sheet
  • Meditate to imbue it with "Planar Energy"
  • Get new portal key and insert it into your Planar Compass to unlock a new Flow
  • Travel to the unknown Flow and see the ending of the game
