Loot Box Achievement

This guide helps players who are struggling to find the location of the loot boxes. It also provides tips, tricks, and information for players who want to find the loot boxes themselves.

Foreword

Arrrrg, so ye be trying to find some treasure, are ye? I sure hope so, because that's why I made this. This guide is meant to help players who are having troubles with locating the hidden loot boxes. It provides their locations as well as tips, tricks, and information on how and where to find them. Before looking at the map of marked locations, I implore you to attempt to discover them yourself. I had loads of fun looking for these boxes, especially when it came down to trying to find the last two. I fully recommend using this guide only as help to uncover the locations of loot boxes you may be stuck on.

Loot Box Information

Here is the current information on loot boxes.

• There are only 20 loot boxes.
  
• Loot boxes do not re-spawn after being opened.
  
• Currently, loot boxes do not spawn in on old saves.
  
• Loot boxes spawn across both modes.
  
• Loot boxes spawn in the same spot for every game.
  
• The loot inside each box is randomized when the box is opened.

Tips & Tricks

I'm starting out this guide for the people who want to find the loot boxes on their own, but need some help. If you still wish to follow the map I made and go straight to their locations, skip down to the next section titled "Loot Box Locations". For everyone else wanting to at least attempt to discover them for yourself, here's a list of some tips and tricks that helped me uncover all 20 loot boxes.

• Most loot boxes spawn next to other items (I.E. trees, rocks, etc...)
  
• Almost all loot boxes are in nature.
  
• No loot boxes are inside any building interiors.
  
• Look far out into the distance. Loot boxes spawn before grass and rocks, but not before
  trees. So if you look far out, you'll usually see them before the item covering them
  spawns in.
  
• Look from high up places such as on top of rocks.

Loot Box Locations

Below is a map with each loot box location. The number on each blip ties to what number box is at that location. This way if you need further help on a specific box, you can move to the appropriate section below for further information.

Loot Box 1

South of your home, right off the trail that runs between Main Street and Island Loop. It's nuzzled in the hillside.

Loot Box 2

At the northern point of Pier Point Nature Trails, just north off the trail.

Loot Box 3

Southwest, in the Pier Point Nature Trails area. It's southwest off the trail, past a small campsite and resting under a tree on the side facing the water.

Loot Box 4

In the center of the Pier Point Nature Trails area. Atop the highest point in the area, just north off the trail.

Loot Box 5

South, slightly southeast of the Pier Point Nature Trails. North, northwest off of the trail and under a tree.

Loot Box 6

In the center of the Marshlands. On the sand up against some rocks.

Loot Box 7

South of the Islandville Motel, East of Island Loop, in the wooded area. It's up against a tree.

Loot Box 8

North of Island Loop, in the northwest of the wooded area the loop encompasses. It's northern-facing, against some rocks.

Loot Box 9

South of Island Loop and west of the UFO Arcade. On the sand between rocks.

Loot Box 10

Northwest of the UFO Arcade. It's against rocks.

Loot Box 11

To the east, off the embankment Island Loop is on. It is encoved in rocks on the sand.

Loot Box 12

North, off Island Loop. In the grass against a rock.

Loot Box 13

In the far southern end of the Beach area. East, off Island Loop and down the embankment. Between a rock and a... well, another rock.

Loot Box 14

Near the center of the Beach area. North off Island Loop and down the beach access path, next to Frankies Quality Fireworks. It's in the sand dunes, up against rock.

Loot Box 15

In the northwestern most part of the Beach area. North of Island Loop and north, northeast of Maple Lane. Follow the driveway attached to Maple Lane and go northeast of the house. It's nestled into the sand dunes.

Loot Box 16

East of Maple Lane and West of Island Loop, in a cove of rocks.

Loot Box 17

One of the only loot boxes not in nature. In the northeastern area that Maple Lane circles. It's on the patio, behind the garage of the only other house in the location that's not at Barry's house.

Loot Box 18

In the center of the area entitled "Camping Zone", to the south of the area named Mountains and to the west of the small pond. It's past the campsite heading north, between two rocks.

Loot Box 19

To the west of the Mountains area. Up the slope, at the start of the grass. It's under a tree with its back to the mountains.

Loot Box 20

Near the center of the Mountains area. Between the peaks, in an area covered in grass and peppered with trees. It lies under one of those tree.

Conclusion

I hope this guide helped in earning the three achievements relating to it. It took me several hours to find all 20 loot boxes, but it was well worth the trouble! I really hope you took my advice and followed my tips and tricks, rather than the map I made! It's more time consuming, but is much more rewarding to use the help I provided in finding them on your own.

For anyone looking for help with "non-spawning" boxes, they do spawn, but when you get one, seems like the wrong flag is called, and if you reload the game or the area, all the other crates wont spawn or appear anymore.
I made some testing with 10 different new save files, and the results are always the same, indepently of what box i open first. So, if you want to get them all, start a new game and get all of them in one swoop :)

13 is moved now with the waterpark update. its next to a rock off the parking lot of lenny's waterpark

update that I started my new save just last month and the loot boxes either didn't spawn or disappeared before I started looking for them. thought I was going insane because I couldn't find them at ALL so looked up this guide only to learn that I'm not insane, they aren't there. started a new save and instantly found one but feels disheartening to have to disregard my main save if I want to find them at all. thanks for the guide tho, since it confirmed that I wasn't the problem

There is currently an issue where on some saves the boxes don't spawn. Wish i knew early in my save lol. Now im making a new save and the first thing im doing is finding one box to know they have spawned before committing.

Thank you for this guide -- I wish it wasn't necessary.

But with some kind of glitch where we are only able to save twice on a new game file (just two days passing in-game) before the boxes disappear, this is a basically required reading.
