Death Note: Confrontation Game

Descrição
This is a digital port of the discontinued Death Note board game that was sold in 2018. I have recently fallen in love with this franchise and have decided to put this together as my personal gift to the Death Note community as thanks for all the enjoyment I got from the series. Also comes with Death Note OST in the music player!

First of all, it is HIGHLY recommended that both players go into their Tabletop Simulator settings and reduce the opacity of the hidden zones. This can be done by going to "Menu", then "Configuration", and then "Interface". Click "Misc. Settings" and scroll down until you see "Hidden Zone Show Opacity". Make sure the slider is set to a low number, like 0.3 for example. Then apply your changes and you should now have no trouble playing the game without straining your eyes.

This is a 2-player asymmetrical roll-and-write game where one player takes on the role of L while the other plays as Kira. L's goal is to identify which of the 20 possible suspects Kira could be on the map before Kira reaches his own goal of killing criminals that are worth various points in order to gain a total of 15 points and slip away without getting caught.

The game consists of a Daytime Phase and a Nighttime Phase. During the Daytime Phase, L reveals the top card in the Lead Card deck which features two crime scenes that hold different rewards for Kira, and Kira must choose which crime scene to visit that day by using his black A or B token and dragging it into view in the middle of the table, face-down. If L fails to predict where Kira will go with his own white token, then Kira kills the criminal specified at the crime scene. If L successfully predicts where Kira will go, then he will prevent Kira from killing the criminal and draw one Suspect Card, which can then be eliminated from his search.

The Nighttime Phase is when L rolls 3 custom dice with criminal types on the faces. Kira will then be forced to kill one of the criminal types, but is limited to only killing a total of 2 criminals outside of his general vicinity before he is forced to either kill exclusively in his neighborhood on the map, or else reveal to L that he is not able to kill during that night by declaring it a Quiet Night. If L gets too many Quiet Nights, the case will go cold and he will lose Kira, but each Quiet Night provides him with valuable information in exchange, which allows him to cross off many remaining suspects.

Details for everything stated above can be found in my recreation of the official rulebook and guick guides accompanying the player's hidden zones. The hidden zones are configured to hide your mouse cursor and prevent the opponent from seeing what you draw or write, meaning both players will be perfectly secure throughout the game.

The game also features a more complex Chapter 2 scenario that can be accessed by hovering your mouse cursor over the gameboard, quick guide, and tracker board and pressing the 2 key. The rules change slightly to spice up the gameplay by giving both players special abilities that they can earn during the Daytime Phase.

I hope you all enjoy! I may improve upon it a little more in the future if I can get high quality scans or access to the proprietary Death Note font that they used in the game.

SPECIAL THANKS:

Jordan and Mandy Goddard and their affiliates - For designing this awesome game!

Harvey-1997 - For providing all the images and information I needed with his authentic copy of the game. This dude is a hero and I never would've been able to put all of this together without his phenomenal assistance!

Shueisha and Mad House - For creating the Death Note anime!

Tsugumi Ohba & Takeshi Obata - For creating the Death Note manga!

@Karutamaru Maybe "rare and elusive" was a bit over the top then. lol But it's definitely a discontinued game that isn't commercially sold anymore, so I'll update the description to reflect that.

If you manage to find the game available for purchase from anyone that ISN'T a third-party seller though, do let me know.

I found my copy at my local comic and game store once.

@PlacidMoose I'm glad you like it! :D Death Note was such an insanely cool series for me to discover... It's a rare case where I decided to read the manga all the way through right after watching the anime. When I find a series I greatly enjoy, I love to try and give back to the fandom in some way. I seriously can't thank Harvey-1997 enough though... his photos and scans of the game pieces went a long way into making this!

Super cool! Thanks for bringing this to tabletop. Music is a great touch.

May I ask where you found it, and when?

Because it's currently unavailable anywhere I search online, except for one copy that is in Spanish and not English.

Rare and elusive? I came across it pretty easily.
