How to Become a Better Player in War Selection

In this guide im going to give a lot of tips and tricks which i have accumulated throughout my whole gaming experience.

Hot Keys

Introduction

The Most important key combination you want to know is ctrl+1-9
Selcet an object, lets say your town hall and press ctrl and 1 in the same time, now you can press 1 ones and it will select your town hall, if you press it twise your camera view will come back to it.




Hot keys are important to speed up your game speed, rather then clicking each icon on it's own you press a key, therefore saving some time, after getting used to using keys rather than a mouse your game speed will drastically increase, its like blind typing. You can be fast at typing while looking at your keyboard but you will never be as fast as the person blind typing.




while you are playing you preferably want to use mouse for only micro'ing your troops, selecting workers and specific buildings.

Key combinations

To select all the same objects on your screen you can either double click or the more efficient way is to: ctrl+Left Click



Lets say you want to recruite 20 workers, thats gonna take a lot of effort with normal clicking.
to recruit 5 workers at a time, you Right Click
Also can press Ctrl+ Left Click















5 workers is not enough, how about 25? Ctrl+ right Click will recruit 25 workers/ or any troop.

note: when playing asia if you have less troops in the reserve than 25 troops in a barrack it will recruit all of them but not extra.

General

Also some useful ones:

• Press F1 to open the map.
  
• Press F2 to select all ground troops.
  
• Press F3 to select all the navy.
  
• Press F4 to select all the aviation.
  
• Press F5 to select all the "neutral" units like: scouts, tiger trucks german trucks etc...

Units

Useful keys for controlling units

• Press Q so your units attack everything on their way. (siege machinese and canons incluing ir ones will not attack wild animals)
  
• Press E so the selected troop or worker stops moving.
  
• Press Z change target mode, usefull for killing easily workers by changing it to the closest target.
  
• Press X for troops you can select a place to shoot at.
  
• Press X (for workers) after pressing x your workers will come back to gathering resources

Idle workers:
press "~" to select 1 indle worker.
press "ctrl + ~" in the same time to select all the idld workers.

Game Basics

Tips from the stone Age!

most of the times if not always you want 40+ workers in the stone age.
And 14+ houses for the population limit


Note berries are the worst course of food in the game, if you hace fishing pits, cows, deer or mamooth use them instead of berries because you have a much higher harvesting rate.

• harvesting rate for berries 1.1 food a second(1.3 meat a second with berries upgrade)
  
• harvesting rate of meat: 1.6 food a second
  
• harvesting rate of fish: 1.8 food a second

If you have seen deer running all over your base after you've spawned try sniping it with your dulwark to get extra meat.
you can use your scout to push some deer into your bulwark.



while scouting you've noticed some cows? Use them!
killing cows is a very good thing, if you have 3 cows+ at ones it worth place a warehousr next to them to collect that sweat meat faster.

Asia Tips

You want to have at least 10 stone age workers working on a palty yard because they have a faster meat gathering than any age worker and the same as industrial age.
All asian builings are way cheaper rather than europian.




Asia has weaker troops rather than europian, but its way cheaper. So you can make a lot more barracks with the same resources rather than europe.




asian town hall has a lot less armor rather than europian town hall so a good player will always go for you first.
But asian town hall has a shorter workers time recruitment so its easier to get up after all of your workers are killed.
Also your workers cost less food to recruite and upgrade.

Europe Tips

When going from stone age into europian bronze age you want at leaset 600 food to upgrade your workers to make a farm with enought workers to supply your need for food. In the stone Age you want to have a stone cutter to uprade it into a forge.



advantages: Europian troops are way sronger than asian troops. They take less time to recruite rather than asian troops.

disadvantages: Europian troops cost a lot more rather than asian troops, europian troops dont go into reserve.

Iron Age Tips

When going into iron age you want to take all the warehouses, docks and farm upgrades.

It's a great idea not to take population upgrade in the bronze age but rather take it in the iron age so your workers will work on the maximum harvesting speed.

Early Europian Medieval

If you have a lot of stone near your base, take the stone upgrades as it brings your wood/second income up to the ame value as copping down trees, also take the iron upgrade.

Late medieval

you want to take the storage upgrade to increase your warehouse production to 140%.

Industrial Age

When going into industrail age, you want to make a factroy and pump out 4-6 tractors out of it.

Ocean tips

Most of the times people just ignore the ocean, thats a huge mistake.
shipping boats are really good at gathering food, if you are going eastern asia make 10+ boats least.

A lot of people dont plan ahead and place their town hall near the coat. To catch them ofgard you can make Bombard ships as eu which have a huge range so you can get people which are not even close to the coast.

After going into late medieval its a good idea to make a baloon tower next to your docks to see all the incoming ships and all the fish.

Fighting china

Fighting Maunted Guardsmen

You are industrial and 30 guardsmen rush into your base, what do you do?

1) if you have towers hide your workers inside as soon as possible.
2) start taking machine gun towers to prevent any damage in future as 8 carefuly placed towers will delete enemies guardsmen.

Troops are also very important, the best unit again early china in my oppinion is the machine gun balloon.
it's unreachable for both maunted guardsmen and militiamen.

MG balloon (machine gun balloon) is a very good support as no splash unit can reach them, therefore you can cleverly combine then to get a lot of profit.

If you make a wall, you can stop militiamen and guardsmen.

Fighting militiamen

Fighting militiamen is actually tricker than Fighting Maunted Guardsmen. as they have a much higher damage against buildings, cost 5 food what is close to nothing.

8 towers wont work against such a strong force, you need troops like above listed machine gun balloons wich the militiamen cant reach or machine guns behind walls and towers not easy to find.




generally the best tip playing against china is stay in cover.

Advanced Tips

Macroing

when having a fight against archer try selecting 4-6 units of yourth and run from side to side distructing enemy archers from hitting their shot while your archers are shooting them.

Rushing ir

Depending from what are you rushing (eu's ir or asia's) build order and the time will be different for them.

when rushing ir as eu you want to make a stone cutter in stone age so you can upgrade it to a forge and into an arsenal later.

instead of waiting for 50 workers get ready in the stone age you queue up bronze age as soon as you hit 35 workers mark.
As 10 workers will be made during the 90 seconds it takes to reach bronze age.



Also we are making 35 workers instead of 40 because you will have 20 seconds to upgrade all of your buildings in the brone age and 20 more in the medieval therefore you can make extra workers during that time.

After reaching bronze age upgrade 7 workers -15 workers and send them on iron, to instantly go to bronze age you let them mine for 1-3 seconds and you right click on your townhall so they bring the resources back allowing you to instantly go up to bronze age


(you need at least some resources to go up the ages, for example if you have 0 iron your iron age process bar wont go up)
