In-Game Personalities
Wolves in Anniversary Edition have personalities. Yourself, the mate and pups all have personalities along with the pack wolves (Lamar Canyon, Junction Butte and Wapiti).
I will explain in the other sections of the personalities, all this info comes from the wikipedia of WolfQuest that tells you info from each game, from the OG 2.5 WQ to the newest one which is Anniversary Edition!

The personalities are...

Bold to Cautious
Social to Loner
and Energetic to Lazy.

I will explain these 6 personalities and what they mean for mates and pups.
Bold to Cautious Personality
Bold to Cautious personalities are the main things you'll be looking for when hunting/fighting.

Bold mates are more likely to jump into a fight even the odds aren't correct. These wolves are more likely to die when fighting or hunting.

Cautious mates are more likely to hesitate when it comes to hunting/fighting. These wolves are less likely to die when fighting or hunting.

Here are some notes...

Cautious Personality
  • Anxious when predators are nearby, making them more vigilant. - Positive Effect
  • Reduced odds of being wounded or killed in a confrontation. - Positive Effect

  • Hesitant to engage in a fight. - Negative Effect
  • Ultimately deals less damage during hunts and fights. - Negative Effect

    Bold Personality

  • Willing to engage predators in a fight. - Positive Effect
  • Attacks more often during hunts and fights, dealing more damage. - Positive Effect

  • Increased odds of being wounded or killed during hunts and fights. - Negative Effect

Bold to Cautious personalities are the main things you'll be looking for in pups. Sorry if I give you any wrong information!

Bold pups are more likely to come out of the den during a predator attack and possibly wander farther away from the den. They are more likely to die when defending them.

Cautious pups are more likely to hesitate and will stay nearer to the den. They are less likely to die when defending them.

Notes will not be added until further notice on the WolfQuest Wiki, thank you!

Hope this helps! Please check out the Loner to Social personality or the Lazy to Energetic personality!
Social to Loner Personality
Social to Loner personalities are something else to look out for when being around your mate or during courtship.

Social wolves are more likely to come near or next to you. Sometimes, they'll completely approach you in a charming way! They are going to try and get your attention at times, this is signaled by play-bowing or rolling over and are more likely to howl with you.

Loner wolves are more likely to stay a safe distance away from you. They will keep to themselves and will not be inclined to approach you immediately and they will not try to get your attention, this is signaled by not play-bowing or rolling over and are less likely to howl with you.

Here are some notes...

Social Personality

  • Frequently initiates play-bows and other such social, affinity-boosting actions. - Positive Effect
  • Prioritizes being with mate when mate leaves den. - Positive Effect

  • Will not hunt/scavenge alone. - Negative Effect

    Loner Personality

  • Will actively hunt/scavenges alone. - Positive Effect
  • Prioritizes staying home at den with pups while mate is out. - Positive Effect

  • Rarely initiates social, affinity-boosting actions.
  • May keep its distance from other wolves during courtship, singling itself out.

Social to Loner personalities are something to look out for when being around your pups.

Social pups are more likely to socialize and play with their littermates. They will howl and play with you. These guys are the best to have if you want an adorable wolf pup to play as!

Loner pups are more likely to stand alone from the rest of the group and will not howl or play with you even if you try. They are less likely to play with their littermates.

Notes will not be added until further notice on the WolfQuest Wiki, thank you!

Hope this helps! Check out Bold to Cautious Personality or Energetic to Lazy Personality!
Energetic to Lazy Personality
Energetic to Lazy personalities are something to look out for when you are standing and keeping your eye on your mate or during courtship.

Energetic mates will be more likely to wander about and cannot stay still. When courting them, they will run in circles in a goofball manner, it is quite cute and funny. Gotta love this personality!

Lazy mates will be more likely to lay down and will stay still. When courting them, they'll sit or lay down somewhere. This is confused with the loner trait since they lay down some distance away from you. Also, they won't be much help with pups sadly.

Here's some notes...

Energetic Personality

  • More willing to carry pups that stray. - Positive Effect
  • More likely to regurgitate for pups. - Positive Effect
  • More likely to locate lost pups. - Positive Effect
  • Always moving. It can't stay still. - Positive Effect

  • Will frequently consume food to maintain it's own health. - Negative Effect

    Lazy Personality

There are no known positive effects.

  • Spends more time sleeping or resting. - Negative Effect
  • Less willing to carry pups that stray. - Negative Effect
  • Less likely to regurgitate for hungry pups. - Negative Effect
  • Less likely to locate lost pups. - Negative Effect

Energetic to Lazy personalities are something to look out for when playing with pups.

Energetic pups are more likely to run around and follow you when travelling, notice how they catch up with you after a while, that's the energetic trait! When playing, this may be confused with Social. If they are energetic, they'll more likely play with a littermate or you since they are very hyper.

Lazy pups are more likely to lay down in the sun and will fall behind when travelling, notice how one or two stay behind you, thats the lazy trait! When playing, this may be confused with Loner. If they are lazy, they'll be less likely to play with a littermate or you since they are very lazy, y'know?

Notes will not be added until further notice on the WolfQuest Wiki, thank you!

Hope this helps! Please check out Social to Loner Personality or Bold to Cautious Personality!

Mates & subordinates may growl at the pups if teh pups is geting a bit too roudy or confident. They also my growl to tell the pup to leave them alone if the mate/subordinate is low on wakefullness.

Also for some reason chin rests can cause a growling spree. So dont do it. I once tried to do it with my adukt pups like a friendly gesture but when i was finished 3 of my adult pups and my mate came to me, tail rasied up and growling at me.

Well, I don't have a say as to why mates growl at the pups...maybe they're just annoyed by the pups? I don't know lol, it's just something that happens

Or maybe not, it depends on if you don't want your mate too eat all of the food or not.

And the good thing about having a lazy mate could be the bad side of having a energetic personality.

Pups will go into the den by themselves if they are tired. The mate will follow inside with the pup to sleep.

I notice some pups enter the den by themselves! Could this perhaps be a Loner trait, or just something random that they do at time?

I believe so!

Are bolder pups more likely to venture out and get lost?
