add this to Old School RuneScape launch options. Replace YOURUSERNAMEHERE with your username.
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\RuneLite\RuneLite.exe %command%
Step 1: Install both clients
Step 2: Get your 'runelite.exe' location and copy it
Find your runelite shortcut, should be located at your desktop unless you ticked off the "create shortcut at desktop" checkbox, in which case you should try searching runelite via the windows search bar.

> > click on properties, and copy everything inside the target bar. (must be ending with runelite.exe)

Step 3: Open up steam client's properties and find launch options
1) Open up your steam client, go to library and find your "Old School RuneScape" game.
Right click it and open up properties, it should automatically direct you to the "General" tab where launch options are located at.
Step 4: Final step
Paste your previously copied 'runelite.exe' direction to steam launch options
and add a %command% at the end of it.

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\RuneLite\RuneLite.exe %command%

Comment
I'm not author of this better method, this is something a lot of people mentioned below. Also you don't need quotes " before and after the runelite.exe target link, but that sure does make it look better.

Previous guide was a quick one without any serious thought put in to it, it just was the first thing I tried after getting my hands on the new steam client. It works but whenever an update occurs it overwrites itself, it could be bypassed by making osclient.exe a read only file or disabling any incoming updates.

1) find your steam client location (...\Steam\steamapps\common\Old School RuneScape\bin\win64)
2) find your runelite client location (...\AppData\Local\RuneLite)
3) move all your runelite files and folders to steam client folder
4) rename the steam "osclient" to "osclient_old" or something else, or just completely remove it.
5) rename "runelite" to "osclient"
6) launch the game

FAQ:
Q: Would achievements still work like this?
A: No, achievements work only on the newest client. If you are a long time player most -if not all achievements would've been unlocked right after logging in the first time with the new steam client.
Q: What about steam-linked RuneScape account?
A: Steam linked RuneScape account must be also linked with an email in order to use RuneLite, this can be done at official RuneScape[oldschool.runescape.com] webpage by logging in with steam and adding an email to your account.

Can I use this if I don't have windows installed on my deck?

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Jagex Launcher\JagexLauncher.exe" %command%

This same method works for the Runescape Launcher. The launcher now allows runelite as well.

I'd just say use the jagex launcher with runelite and then open and log in on steam if you want your achievements to catch up

when i use runelite on steam, the runelite sidebar artifacts making it almost unusable. anyone else run into this problem/ have a fix?

The steam overlay doesnt work with this. Is there a way to fix?

Doing this poses issues with taking screenshots. Screenshots won't capture the Runelite plugin/window area's and will leave negative space there in the screenshot instead.

Also achievement tracking does not work.

Don't do this, if you care about that stuff.
