INTRODUCTION
AUTHOR'S NOTE: as of 7/28/2022, I don't plan to make any further changes to this guide. I just can't find any motivation to add move lists for the two newest characters, Alexander and Marta.

This is a complete move list for all most characters, including some special moves and combos which aren’t listed in the pause menu.

All button presses are shown as if you are using an XBox controller, or at least one with the same buttons, like the Logitech gamepad I use. They are also shown as if you are Player 1 on the left side of the screen.

Combos vs. Chains: I am defining a "combo" as a series of attacks where the attack animations change for the second (and sometimes third) attacks in the series. I am defining a “chain” as a series of attacks which flow together naturally but the attack animations do NOT change. Lots of attacks can be chained together with each other, but they only count as “combos” if the attack animations change. For example, Laszlo can use (A, Y) and (B, B), and they count as “combos” because the attack animations change. He can also use (Y, X) and (X, Y), but they count as “chains” instead of “combos” because the attack animations don't change. User Scot.Dos said that “string” might be a better term than “combo” in this case, but unfortunately I’m not familiar enough with fighting-game terminology to know for sure.

Chains - Right Foot Forward:

  • Chain 3 (X, Y)
  • Ripper (→X, B)
  • Followup (←X, Y)

Chains - Left Foot Forward:
  • The in-game move list calls these “combos,” but I am calling them “chains” instead for the reasons explained in the Introduction.
  • Chain 3 (X, Y)
  • Ripper (→X, B)

My Favorite Attacks - Right Foot Forward:
  • (→Y, X) and (→Y, Y) are both very effective combos.
  • (A, Y) and (→B, X) are pretty good combos, but not quite as effective as (→Y, X) and (→Y, Y).
  • (↓→Y) is pretty good.
  • (→→X) is amazingly effective against Gedeon and Laszlo, but not so good against everyone else.

  • (→Y) has a surprisingly long range.
  • (→A, Y) is a solid combo.

  • High Left (↓X): diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right while switching feet.

Moving Right - Left Foot Forward (↓):
  • High Right (↓Y): small step to the right with a slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from upper right to lower left, then step backward with the front foot (switching feet).

GEDEON (SABER) PART 2
After certain attacks, Gedeon switches which foot he has forward, but unlike Isabella, Kalkstein, and Father Zera, most of Gedeon’s attacks are the same or almost the same no matter which foot he has forward.

Long Guard - Right Foot Forward (LT):
  • Delayed Cut (Y): hesitate for a moment, then a short step forward with a slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from upper right to lower left.

Long Guard - Left Foot Forward (LT):
  • Cleaver (Y): short vertical cut while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
  • Flat Slice (X): short step forward with a horizontal cut from left to right.
  • Crooked Thrust (→X): step forward with the back foot (switching feet), then thrust with palm up.
  • Lunge (→Y): big step forward with the back foot (switching feet), then thrust with palm down toward the body.
  • Fancy Footwork (↑Y or ↓Y): quickly switch feet, then a slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from upper right to lower left, then quickly switch feet again.

Special Moves - Right Foot Forward:
  • Handslap (↑↑X): currently broken.
  • Wide Cut (↓←X): lunge forward with a long horizontal cut from left to right.
  • In Half! (↓→A): lunge forward with a low horizontal cut from left to right, then step forward with the back foot (switching feet).

Special Moves - Left Foot Forward:
  • Handslap (↑↑X): currently broken.
  • Tip Toe Chop (↓→Y): take a couple tiny steps, then a long step forward with the back foot (switching feet) while cutting from upper right to center.
  • Laughing Slash (Y, A): small step forward with a slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from lower left to upper right, then step forward with the back foot (switching feet). This looks the same as (→A), except that Gedeon does a hoarse, mocking laugh during the attack.

Combos - Right Foot Forward:
  • Mill (→A, B): diagonal upward cut from lower left to upper right while switching feet, then a small step forward with a slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from lower left to upper right while switching feet again.
  • One More! (X, X): diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right while switching feet, then another diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right. Depending on how quickly you press the second attack button, the attack animations can look a little bit buggy.

Combos - Left Foot Forward:
  • Other Cheek (Y, X): diagonal downward cut from upper right to lower left while switching feet, then a quick diagonal downward cut from upper left to middle right.
  • Cut to Thrust (Y, →X): diagonal downward cut from upper right to lower left while switching feet, then a tiny step forward with the front foot while thrusting high, then a step forward with the back foot (switching feet again).

Chains - Right Foot Forward:
  • The in-game move list calls these “combos,” but I am calling them “chains” instead for the reasons explained in the Introduction.
  • Chain 1 (X, Y).
  • Chain 2 (Y, X).
  • Chain 3 (X, B).
  • Chain 4 (B, X).
  • Chain 5 (Y, A).
  • Chain 6 (A, Y).
  • Chain 7 (A, B).
  • Chain 8 (B, A).

Chains - Left Foot Forward:
  • The in-game move list calls these “combos,” but I am calling them “chains” instead for the reasons explained in the Introduction.
  • Chain 1 (X, Y).
  • Chain 3 (X, B).
  • Chain 4 (B, X).
  • Chain 5 (Y ... A): you have to put a delay between the button presses. If you press the buttons too quickly then it will do the Laughing Slash (see above) instead of an attack chain.
  • Chain 6 (A, Y).
  • Chain 7 (A, B).
  • Chain 8 (B, A).

My Favorite Attacks - Either Foot Forward:
  • Basically all variations of High Right (Y, →Y, ←Y, ↑Y, and ↓Y) are effective and useful in multiple situations.
  • My favorite attack chains are (X, Y) and (→X, →Y).

LASZLO (SABER)
While Laszlo’s move-set does share some things with Jacek and Barabasz, he also has plenty of moves which are unique to him. • Holy Stance > Holy Whip (↓→Y, Y): hold the sword up high and stumble forward a bit, then step forward with a vertical cut.
  • Holy Stance > Holy Spear (↓→Y, X): hold the sword up high and stumble forward a bit, then step forward with a lunging thrust.

  • Knee Stab (↓→A): tiny step forward and a downward thrust toward the opponent’s legs.
  • Leg Swipe (↓→B): low, horizontal cut from right to left while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
FATHER ZERA (LONGSWORD) PART 3
Like Isabella, Father Zera has different moves depending on which foot is forward, but overall he’s a bit more complicated than Isabella, and he’s also harder to use because of his drunken stumbling.

Combos - Right Foot Forward:
  • Combo 1 (Y, X): short, quick downward vertical cut, then step forward with the back foot (switching feet) and a long diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right.
  • Combo 2 (X, Y): diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right, then a diagonal downward cut from upper right to lower left.
  • Combo 3 (B, X): diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left, then step forward with the back foot (switching feet) and a diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right.
  • Combo 4 (A, Y): diagonal upward cut from lower left to upper right while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet), then a descending cut with the back edge while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet again).
  • Doubledown (→Y, Y): small step forward with a slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from upper right to lower left, then continue that motion all the way around to cut with the back edge while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
  • Repeater (→Y, X): small step forward with a slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from upper right to lower left, then a vertical downward cut while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
  • Backup (→Y, A): small step forward with a slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from upper right to lower left, then a rising back-edge cut while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
  • Up and Down (→B, X): small step forward with a diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left, then a diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).

  • Spearhead (→A, Y): diagonal upward cut from lower left to upper right while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet), then a lunging thrust while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet again).
  • Sidestep Combo 1 (↑Y, X): double-step forward and to the left with a horizontal cut from right to left, then step forward some more and cut from upper left to lower right, then stumble a little bit (directional inputs during this stumble will usually make you switch feet to left foot forward, while with no inputs you will stay with right foot forward).
  • Sidestep Combo 2 (↑B, X): stumbling step forward and to the left with a diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left, then step forward some more and a slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from upper left to lower right (end with left foot forward).
  • Sidestep Combo 3 (↓Y, X): step to the right with a high horizontal cut with the back edge (known in German as a Zwerchhau), then a diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right while stepping backward with the front foot (switching feet).
  • Sidestep Combo 4 (↓B, X): step to the right with a diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left, then step to the right again with a slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from upper left to lower right (this has a long recovery animation after attacking).
  • Sidestep Combo 5 (↓A, Y): double step to the right with an awkward-looking cut from lower left to upper right, then step to the right again with a descending back-edge cut.

Combos - Left Foot Forward:
  • Combo 1 (Y, X): short, quick, slightly-angled (almost vertical) downward cut while quickly switching feet, then a diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right.
  • Combo 2 (X, Y): slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from upper left to center right while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet), then a slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut with the back-edge from right to left.
  • Combo 3 (X, B): slightly-angled (almost horizontal) cut from upper left to center right while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet), then a fast rising cut with the back edge while taking a small step forward.
  • Combo 4 (B, X): diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet), then a slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from upper left to lower right.
  • Repeater (→Y, X): quick cut from center to lower left while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet), then continue in a circular motion to the left and another quick cut from upper left to center right while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet again).
  • Backup (→X, B): small step forward with a very long diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right, then a long rising cut with the back edge while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
  • Up and Thrust (→B, X): it looks like this one is not working correctly.
  • Top Repeater (→A, Y): small step forward with a quick cut from lower left to upper right, then a diagonal downward cut from upper right to lower left while stepping forward with the back foot (switching feet).
  • Sidestep Combo 1 (↑B, X): small step forward and to the left, then a diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left while taking a long step forward with the back foot (switching feet), and a diagonal downward cut from upper left to lower right.
  • Sidestep Combo 2 (↓B, X): step to the right with a diagonal upward cut from lower right to upper left, then crouch low and thrust upward.
  • Backing Combo 1 (←Y, X): quick cut from center to lower left while stepping backward with the front foot (switching feet), then continue in a circular motion to the left and another quick cut from upper left to center right while stepping backward with the front foot (switching feet again).
  • Backing Combo 2 (←X, B): step backward with a quick slightly-angled (almost vertical) cut from center to lower right, then another step backward with a rising back-edge cut.

My Favorite Attacks - Right Foot Forward:
  • (→Y, X) is extremely effective against Gedeon, Jacek, Barabasz, and Marie. It is less effective against Kalkstein, Isabella, and Father Zera, and terrible against Laszlo.
  • (→B) is really good against Laszlo. The two combos based on it, (→B, X) and (→B, A), are also good.

My Favorite Attacks - Left Foot Forward:
  • (→Y, X) with the left foot forward is pretty good, but not quite as good as (→Y, X) with the right foot forward.

I compiled a move list for the new Marfa character that is currently available in the beta build here, very much inspired by this write up. Feel free to include it in this excellent compilation :-)

I think the term is "string" when attacks in a target combo string have different and special animations.

So with the Marie change I found a new move that is not on the game's move list, though I've yet to find a real use for it : Long Guard ↓→A

luongdavid128, yeah I saw that move lists were added to the game and I'm going to check them right now, see if I missed any. I will keep my guide up.

Hey, the developer finally added proper move lists for each character! But I'm personally in favour of keeping and updating yours, since it contains a lot of "meta-knowledge" that you don't get from reading a movelist (which attacks are useful, which combos can flow into each other, etc.).

For Marie, "Circling" would be a Disengage and Lunge and "Dashing Attack" would be called a "flèche" (an attack where the weight goes over the front foot, as opposed to a lunge).

May Hem, thanks for finding those two new combos. I have added them. I also found a third new one, (B, B).

You're very right about Laszlo's attack chains. Even outside of defined "combos" his attacks chain together very well, possibly even better than Gedeon.

Laszlo has some more combos, like →Y, X and →B, →A.
Also he can chain some attacks pretty well, like looping Y, X, Y, X... almost any combination of opposite moves starting with a side step attack, like for example doing ↓A, →Y or ↓A, ←B or ↑B, X or ↓Y, ↓X ... etc
You can then chain stuff like for example : ↓B, →X, →Y, X
