Duke Nukem 1 - Codes & Secrets

This Guide Provides Cheat Codes & Secrets for Duke Nukem 1.

1. Cheat Codes

Pressing [backspace] [pgdn] at the same time will give you all keys and full gun power.
This can be used in either the shareware or registered version of the game.

2. Debug Mode

To activate, start up the game with "asp" as a command line parameter. (It must be in lower case.) Once activated, you can press the following key combinations inside the game. All keys in each combination must be pressed simultaneously.

G+O+D - Full health & all items

G+O+W - Level Warp. Sort of. This isn't a real warp; it will just take you to the next level.
You need to keep on using it to progress through the levels.

3. Game Select (Steam Version Only)

Once you've launched Duke Nukem 1, you'll be asked to Choose an Episode to Play.
This only works in the Steam Version of Duke Nukem 1.

Press any of the 4 Number Keys to make an Option:
1. EP1-3: Sharpnel City
2. EP2-3: Operation Moonbase
3. EP3-3: Trapped in the Future
or 4. Exit the Game

4. Game Items

Boxes
These aren't collectables, but if you shoot them they reveal a collectable. Red boxes contain food, blue boxes contain bonus prizes, and gray boxes contain important items, bombs, or nothing at all.

Coke
This delicious soda gives you one unit of health..but, if you don't need the health, shoot the can and grab it while it flies upwards for 1000 points.
Points: 200-1000

Turkey
Turkey gives Duke a health point. Shoot the turkey, than pick it up and Duke gets two health points.
Points: 100, 200 when cooked

Nuclear Molecule
This scrumptious molecule as big as Duke's head restores your health to full.
Points: 1000

Football
Footballs, because Duke is a tough guy.
Points: 100

Joystick
To play Duke Nukem...?
Points: 2000

Diskette
Maybe this disk has Duke Nukem 1 on it...
Points: 5000

Balloon
Don't shoot this, it'll pop.
Points: 10000

Radio
It looks like a TV to me, but supposedly it's a radio.
Points: 100-5000 (mystery)

Flag
Hooray, a purple flag.
Points: 100-5000 (mystery)

D.U.K.E. Letters
These letters are 500 points each, but when picked up in the correct order, they award an immediate 10000 points and another 10000 at the end of the level.
Points: 500, 2500 (any order total), 10000 (correct order)

Keys
These can open locked doors.
Points: 1000

Access Card
Use this computer chip to deactivate the electric barrier guarding the exits of some levels.
Points: 1000

Nuclear Pistol
Everytime you get one of these, your firepower goes up. This allows more shots on screen at the same time. Once a shot leaves the Duke's small vision range, it goes to the happy fuzzy land of shots that Duke can't see, and Duke decides it's OK to pull the trigger again.
Points: 1000

Super Jump Boots
These let you jump higher.
Points: 1000

Grappling Hook
This thing is pretty fun, you can hang from grated ceilings with it.
Points: 1000

Robohand
Use this at certain ports to make bridges and stuff.
Points: 1000

[Cycles] = auto

When this game was Released in Version 1.0, had Nukem spelled: N-U-K-E-M. But there was a Villian Character with the same name form the Captian Planet Cartoon Series. So when the game was updated to 2.0, it was spelled: N-U-K-U-M, to avoid a claim from DiC Entetainment's Captian Planet Cartoon Series. But the Renaming of Duke's Last Name was meaninless by the Time Duke Nukem 2 came out and it was Renamed to N-U-K-E-M.

Steam Debug Mode: Locate file NUKEM1.conf, open with Notepad. Add "asp"s after "..exe"s. (dn1.exe asp, dn2.exe asp, dn3.exe asp). Save file & run the game.
