Burnout Paradise Remastered fix checklist

List of fixes & workarounds to try if you're experiencing:

Crashes on start
Blackscreen
Crashes connecting to online lobby
Very low texture resolution despite graphical options all set to high

The list

One or more of these items may solve your problem so try them one at a time or in bulk. I'm on windows 10 so if you're on another OS stuff will be in a different place or absent.

Notice - The origin stuff is for those that bought it through origin or ea play, if you bought it directly through steam I don't think origin comes into play but I am unsure.

Origin - In the client go to origin at the top, application settings, origin in-game, untick origin in-game.

Webcam, go to settings in windows, privacy, camera, at the top disallow your camera hardware from being used.

Windows username (try last) - Issue with extented ASCII in Windows username:
BPR may crash on initial start-up after "Connecting to Paradise City Servers" if your Windows username contains non-ASCII characters. As an example, usernames containing "é" or "ö" will result in a crash.

Patches:
Go to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Burnout_Paradise_Remastered then scroll down to BPR Speed Patch & follow the instructions, my SpeedParadise.ini is set as follows for the options:

This way it only applies the code fixes.

Set it up & install the Core Bugfixes, rest don't matter.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!!! - Make sure to install the BPR speed patch first by dragging the contents to folder THEN apply the B098 patch by installing core fixes, if you do this in the wrong order you will get a crash on startup.

Low resolution draw distance road issues - This could be due to the settings in your nvidia control panel overriding the game options, basically texture quality is likely set to performance over quality, same may happen in amd, this is a rare issue though. Update graphics drivers or change the texture setting to quality in there.

Can't hear other players in online lobby. Despite mic lighting up in game, this one I don't know the fix for unfortunately. Try this though https://pixeldrain.com/u/MRXUcFg2 You may have some success with the bottom options.

Steam:
The following are reached by right clicking on your game in steam then going to properties.

General:
Untick enable steam overlay in game
In launch options enter -skipvideos

Local files - Browse. locate burnoutpr.exe, right click then properties, compatibility tab - tick disable full screen optimisations, override high dpi scaling, application.

Controller - If you use a controller Disable steam input here to prevent issues.

numerous failed attempts to do what you said. no funny usernames on any account, no origin friends, and you also never said what file to put it in AND i dont have a burnout file anywhere on my pc in the first place

Chaos - not sure, I'd delete the files it created (use something like everything. Exe to find folder) & verify game through steam.

heya, how do you uninstall a mod of BPR? I installed brik remastered but i want to uninstall it but there is no uninstall button in BPR Modder Program

Wow ZaliaS is right he just found the immediate fix for crashing when connection to online servers after launch; Check your Origin friend list, and remove anyone with more than 25 characters in their name. That worked for me and i was to refund the game. Looks fun so far. Thanks all.

@ZaliaS thanks for the tip. That fixed it for me. This game is fun but buggy as hell. The first time I installed I spent hours trying to figure out a crash only to find out that it was some sort of bug related to having a web cam, and unplugging the cam fixed everything. This time it's the exact same crash but the cause is some dumbass on my friends list changed their user name to their BTC address
