Zephrie

Description
After another long period of time, my third Workshop character, Zephrie, glides onto the stage. They be fast, they be small, and of course, they be windy.

You may notice that they have some (ahem) *similarities* to my first Character. This is because this is my attempt at making a more interesting/complete moveset out of the glide mechanic, since I feel I did it injustice the first time around.

Like Zerra, they have an in-game guide with all the info you need that can be accessed by pressing special while taunting. Here's the full framedata document, since the in-game version doesn't have everything:

Hyuponia made the finished anims for the aerials, most of the preview image, and edited the trailer.

Delta Parallax made the victory and trailer theme.

Chestergreen made the trailer animation.

Blaner did most of the shading on the in-game portrait.

Compatible with:
Amber (plush only)

You know what? I think this is one of the most fun, unique, and cohesive characters I have played in rivals. It's clear there was so much thought put into making this character flow so well. Like how nair changes direction based on velocity, glide can be cancelled by pressing parry, the vortex thing can be used both to recover in tricky ways or as a setup for an opponent to get launched into, up b has a spike that makes me feel so cool when I hit it, gliding into the floor with forward strong can give you a wavedash that goes across the whole stage, and probably so much more that I haven't noticed yet. It's actually inspiring. I wish I found out about this character sooner.

I played with Zephrie online and offline and for me it seemed that the vortex hitbox appears whenever the opponent attempts to parry wherever they are on stage, I could try recording it and upload it to google drive and link it to you.

@Water_Arkana i haven't been able to recreate any of the things you're talking about, outside of the constant hitbox thing which was fixed ages ago and only looks like a hitbox in training mode, when in reality it is being drawn on its own and only spawns the hitbox when it knows it's going to grab someone or is about to get parried.

forgot to mention that the character's gliding doesn't function in playtests, and unable to do any strong attacks in it too.

There are a few bugs worth mentioning in this character, I found out that hitboxes on dspecial upon teleporting into the vortex would unintentionally place the character's hitbox in a really distended way and not in the center of the vortex when they are supposed to be invisible and invincible at the same time causing many shenanigans of opponents able to hit them out of it before they appear on screen and dispel the vortex, and speaking of the vortex, while vortex functions as a command grab, I believe it should not act as a invisible hitbox that does no damage and knockback at all times which could result in insanely easy parries on the vortex itself which I think should not happen as well.

The moment I learn to stop killing myself offstage, I will be a god.

I absolutely love Zephrie! If they ever add more workshop fighters into the main rival cast, I hope Zephrie is one of them

Really fun to play, but damn is it easy to suicide as Zephrie.
