Interview Start

1Can you describe yourself in 3 words?
Games, business, Excel

1.1 From how much time you work for Starbreeze?
So I known people at Starbreeze since it started in the late 90’s and done consultancy work for Starbreeze for over 15 years ago.
But as of lately and of this iteration of Starbreeze I joined the board in June 2019 and then became the acting CEO in late October 2020.

1.2 Are you a gamer on your lost hours?
Absolutely, I play a lot of different games. I love strategy games, as of lately I played a lot of ARPG and had the great pleasure of playing Red Dead Redemption 2 to completion. But I like action games like PAYDAY a lot as a big portion of my early career was working with the first Battlefield game released. Nothing beats the feeling of cooperating with people online beating the game through working as a team!

1.3 As Mr. Nermark do you take part in Hockey match (Strabreeze sun's VS Overkill Bombers)?
Oh, good question. As I grew up next to a lake I should be better on ice skating than I really am, I am more of a runner if I do exercise today. However, Corona closed down all the training so we’ll see in the fall when I hope the Hockey can get started again.

1.4 In your personal life isn't too hard to be the CEO of Strabreeze? After all problem the company got before? (Public view, legal procedure)
Ah, you mean if I see it as a problem working at a place that had to go through the reconstruction and everything.
No, not really, I think it is rather the other way around that if you have the experience and skills you should feel obliged to help somebody that needs it. In Starbreeze case there is a lot of awesome people who done wonders over the last two years to get the company back on its feet and I am just one of many great supporters.
And in the end, it is not about what people think right now that matters but what I am certain the public image will be in the future when the team here had the time to do their work.

1.5 What would you say to the community? (About payday or future project.)
Thank you for supporting the game! It is such a joy for the team to work with such a dedicated community! We all appreciate your time you spend on the game and we are fully dedicated to continue to improve the PAYDAY experience for you.

2. Your leading program is in the same mood as Mr. Nermark?
Every manager have their own style I guess but I am no different than Mikeal in the fact that the only way to build a great game studio you need to focus on the production team and the game produced fits well with the community.

2.1 What is the objective of Starbreeze for 2021?
First and foremost it is to find the right partner to publish PAYDAY 3 with and next to that it is to continue to improve and deliver on PAYDAY 2.

2.2 Can you say anything about the PAYDAY 2 lore?
I have always liked stories and I think in general we have a strong story telling tradition here in the Nordic region. I like PAYDAY because the characters and their stories and I think there is a lot more we can do with that in the future as well.

2.3 Overkill is a part of Starbreeze so they have a large liberty of decision or they are under pressure from Starbreeze?
We all work as a unified team and I myself I got both a Starbreeze and an Overkill hoodie.

3. How are the mood in the company?
Personally I find it great, especially considering we all work from home due to Covid-19.

I notice an energy when speaking to people, they are as excited about the sales of PAYDAY 2 and the new content being done there as they are about the development of PAYDAY 3 and I get a great feeling of the team mood!

3.1 Which effect have the covid-19 for the crew?
Well in practice everyone have worked from home since March 2020. Video games production fits pretty well for that luckely but of course it is very difficult for everyone not to meet their colleagues and not getting that social interaction you would get under normal circumstances.

3.2 What is the statement about "financial difficulty" of the company?
We are through the most, we did a big down payment in December to a lot of companies which was really the last part of the reconstruction. And the great sales of PAYDAY 2 really helps us along awesomely so we good.

4. I can't interview you without asking that... Have you found some possible publisher for PAYDAY 3?
As soon as we have news about that we will announce it to the market, that is the great thing with us being a publicly listed company on the stock exchange that we will tell everyone about it as soon as it is done!
