Introduction
Hi and welcome fellow gentleman (or gentlewoman),
In this here guide I'm gonna teach you all about the delicate art of diplomacy

Who am I?
People refer to me as Jackal or OOJ. I'm also called the "known traitor" by the less refined people. I can assure you this reputation is completly unfounded.
War ... war never changes
Well actually it does change. Don't believe the lies...

Declaring wars is the most common action you will use. It allows you to annex territories bordering you or provinces that are on a different landmass but that are connected to your first province on that landmass (assuming you already have one).

Casus Belli
First of all you will have to pick one of 11 available casus belli. Some of them are blocked until you fulfill a certain requirement be it having claims or being the biggest country around. These casus belli are as follows:

Different casus belli will allow for different amount of land that can be gained / lost in the war:

Propaganda
Next you will have to pick your propaganda. Some of them are blocked until you fulfill a certain requirement.

Military Alliances, Defense Pacts and Non Agression Pacts
Military Alliance

The top tier of international diplomacy. Military allies can be called to offensive wars and defensive wars. Being allied with someone allows you to move troops through their territory. Breaking a military alliance causes a long [288 years] truce.

Defensive pacts

The second tier of international diplomacy. Unlike military allies defensive allies can't join offensive wars and you can't move troops through their lands. They however join automatically in any defensive war that is declared on you. Breaking a defense pact causes a short [25 years] truce.

Non Aggression Pact

Lowest tier of international diplomacy. Having a non aggro pact with someone causes you to be unable to attack / be attacked by said person. You can't move troops through their territory and breaking the non aggro pact causes a medium [144 years] truce.
Vassalization

There are many different types of vasslizations. Vassals can't engage in diplomacy with other foreign nations. Each type gives different bonuses / penalties. [This was added thanks to Kaiser Estris]:
Claims, Insults, Supporting Rebels
Claims
In order to take the most provinces out of a war you should make claims on the lands of your enemies. It also reduces % at which independence rebels grow in those territories once you take them.

To claim a province you got to pick the reason for the claim:

Chances and effects:

Once the claiming process is done in the province view you will be able to see this:

Insults
Usually less common diplomatic action. Gives the person you insulted a casus belli. Apart from that it does little to help you.

Supporting Rebels
Useful tool if you have a lot of spare gold and someone you don't want to expand.Depending on your ideas this can make a pretty big impact in the lands of your enemy.
