Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith 100% Secrets Guide (HARD Difficulty)
By Perish Heelturn
I was originally working on this gaming guide back in late 2016, when for some reason or another I had lost all my saved games. :( Therefore, the graphical guide was incomplete as I couldn't finish the game and left it at that (plus a thousand other distractions along the way didn't help). It was only recently that I decided to get back into the game, start from scratch again and finish it off, along with the guide which was left in limbo around Level 9. It is now complete, and hopefully you'll find it useful. :)

Special thanks go out to intermp's Secrets Guide[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] which I had used as a reference point for secrets I could not find/simply missed, as well as the Walkthrough by GameBoomers[www.gameboomers.com] (author?) when I got lost and couldn't make sense of things. :P

Level 1: New Republic Base on Altyr 5
Level 1: New Republic Base on Altyr 5 has six secrets sprinkled around the map, two of which are right across from each other above at the rafters. The two keywords for the latter half of the secrets in this level is "grate" and "slashable"!

SECRET #1

Force Jump up onto the ledge. Around the corner on the right towards the far wall, you will see an orange opening. Go on in, look up and you will see a hole in the ceiling. Force Jump up again through the hole and loot away.

SECRET #2

Force Jump up onto the rafters above, and collect the goodie on one end. Then STAY WHERE YOU ARE, DON'T MOVE, and read Secret 3.

SECRET #3

Sprint across the beams to the other end and collect the other goodie. How about that, eh? Two secrets within close proximity!!!

SECRET #4

Among the three grates here by the wall, the furthest to the left is breakable. Slash through the grate with your lightsaber and grab the loot.

SECRET #5

Jump over the rail by the power generator and access the slashable grate below. The secret is also similarly accessible from the other side of this structure.

SECRET #6

In this cargo area right before your encounter with the AT-ST at the bay next door, there is yet another slashable grate to the left of the door farther ahead.

Level 2: Asteroid Crust
Level 2: Asteroid Crust consists of 6 secrets in which at least three of them involve precarious ledges, meaning BE CAREFUL, and don't lose your footing! Tip: Saving your game frequently helps too. :P

SECRET #1

This secret area is accessible by the entrance on the far side of the cavern wall opposite the small Imperial structure. Enter it, and drop down over the ledge. Turn around, crouch under the ledge, and loot away.

SECRET #2

Make your way to the end of the bridge at the top of the Imperial Fortress. Force Jump up onto the Imperial structure there. Once you find yourself on the roof, look up. Again, you may wanna turn on Field Light to brighten things up a bit, or simply IR Goggle it. You should see a hole.

Force Jump up into the hole. When you have made it, SAVE YOUR GAME, because the next part is gonna be tricky - yep, the fall-to-your-death kinda tricky.

Navigate through to the other end of the hole, and set yourself up by the edge. Then turn around and face your back towards the edge for the drop of faith. Step off and let yourself fall to the ledge below. If you've made it, you'll see a slope leading up to some goodies at the end of it. Grab them, SAVE YOUR GAME, and make your way back to the edge. Face your back towards the edge again for the leap of faith. Then Force Jump your way back up to where you let yourself fall from originally.

SECRET #3

Get onto the moving platform, and keep left on the platform facing the wall. Wait until the platform reaches the lowest stop. Then run into an opening located at the left of the rock face.

SECRET #4

This secret is divided into two parts. First, make your way to the control panel as shown above. Activating it will trip an opening elsewhere in the map.

Second, make your way back outside to the ascending and descending platform, ride it halfway up, and go the area as shown in the snapshots. Area look familiar? That's right, you have been there earlier before. Now look out for the mouth by the wall in the same area. Enter it, and you will discover a gaping hole in the floor that wasn't there before. Jump in and loot away.

SECRET #5

This one's a little tricky. Jump onto the vehicle and make yourself comfortable. Now before attempting anything further, I would suggest to SAVE YOUR GAME as this may require a few tries. When you are ready, activate the vehicle, and move to stand on the edge of the vehicle facing the opposite wall as the vehicle lowers itself down. Turn on your IR Goggles (yes, it's dark!), and look out for a ledge as the vehicle is descending. When you're near the ledge, jump over to it to register the secret and grab the goodies.

SECRET #6

Once off the ledge, you'll find yourself at the bottom of the huge cavern. Look for the grayish structure in the leftmost snapshot. Approach the right side of that structure, go all the way and jump up onto higher ground. Turn the corner and make your way straight ahead until you come to a cliff edge. Turn on the IR Goggles if you feel the need as it's pretty dark ahead (and you wouldn't wanna fall off to your death looking for this secret!). At the edge, if you look down, you'll see two ledges. Drop down and grab the loot.

Level 3: Asteroid Core
Level 3: Asteroid Core. Nope, I did not forget the "s" after "Secret", because it is what it is - ONE MISERABLE SECRET! :( One secret so special it's dependent on a GONK DROID! So, be wise and DON'T go guns ablazing on that thing.

SECRET #1

Yes, that's the droid by the entrance of that opening to the secret. In the beginning, you'll find the Gonk Droid at the bottom of the ramp. It will slowly and gingerly make its way up the ramp, and finally park itself by the opening. While it's going through the motions, DO NOT get in its way, or do anything whatsoever to obstruct the droid. Leave the droid alone.

Believe me, I have tried to block it, push it off the ramp, poke it, punch it, whatever, and when it finally got to the opening, the door did not open (maybe I pissed it off? haha). Not sure which was the cause, so don't abuse the poor thing! I can almost swear that walking box has feelings.

Level 4: Self-Destruct & Escape
Level 4: Self-Destruct & Escape consists of 2 secrets. One of them is real sweet. Why? Because the secret is practically outside on the roof right above your head where you start the level! How's that for practically little to no effort in looking for it? :)

SECRET #1

Exit the little building you started in, and turn around on the bridge. See that arrow pointing down at the roof? Bingo. Just Force Jump up to the roof, register the secret, and loot away. Easy peasy.

SECRET #2

This is a pretty linear map, so you'll eventually come across this domed building surrounded by water. So take a dive, surface, position yourself and Force Jump up onto the crossbeams. That's pretty much it for this level.

Source: http://www.hubbywifey.com/jkmots/level4.htm
Level 5: Ka'pa the Hutt's Palace
Level 5: Ka'pa the Hutt's Palace is one big friggin' maze to explore, so it's a joy(?) to know there's only 3 secrets you need to worry about for the sake of completion.

SECRET #1

This one secret is easy to miss. Tricky even, as in easy-to-fall-to-your-death kinda tricky, so SAVE YOUR GAME before you make the attempt. Simply drop off onto the next ledge below where the arrow is pointing. I tried walking and dropping off while standing, but found it much easier to do it in a squat position.

When you've found your footing, go into the room and loot away. Then get back out onto the ledge, and... yes, that's right, you gotta jump back up to where you were originally. Need I remind you to SAVE YOUR GAME before making the attempt?

SECRET #2

One of the many rooms in the courtyard contains a secret area. Check out the one with the arrow, go inside, and duck under the shelves into a small room for some loot waiting for you.

SECRET #3

There are two ways to get to the secret area. The first is by Force Jumping into the hole at the top left as indicated by the arrow. The second is by slashing the grate and dropping into the sewers below. I would suggest the sewers since you will be exploring it sooner or later anyway, and will have to eventually end up near the secret area (because there is only one exit out from the sewers, not counting the way you came from).

Level 6: Katraasii Space Port, Part A
"Patience you must have, my young Padawan." - Yoda, Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Level 6: Katraasii Space Port, Part A is totally devoid of any official secrets, BUT there is an Easter Egg here on this level that will test your level of patience. Remember, good things come to those who wait.

EASTER EGG: Ballet Studio

Rumour has it that there is a droid you have to follow to get to the Easter Egg. More specifically, a Protocol Droid. Not just any Protocol Droid mind you. It has to be specifically *that* particular Protocol Droid located in *that* area there. Check out the screenshot and the accompanying map to locate that droid. Get close to it to get it started, follow it patiently to its end destination, and discover the Easter Egg for yourself. :)

Level 7: Katraasii Space Port, Part B
Level 7: Katraasii Space Port, Part B. City streets again, except this time there's a whopping ELEVEN secrets scattered throughout. Prepare to Force Jump a lot to get to some of them.

SECRET #1

This first one is easy. It's just around the corner to the left from where you start off. Open the door, and go all the way to the back. You'll find a small opening beneath the ramp. Loot away and register the secret.

SECRET #2

This one is just around the corner to the right from where your starting point was. Look out for the golden drapes. Pretty straight-forward - simply Force Jump to the opening at the top.

By the way, if you have gone this far, know that when you come across Secret 3, areas around Secret 1 and 2 is practically a point of no return (either that, or my Force Jump at this moment just sucks at 2 stars. :P). So make sure you have done Secret 1 as well before going any further.

SECRET #3

Force Jump up onto the platform there. See that grate? Slash it open and grab some goodies.

SECRET #4

It's not exactly what's on the bed but what's UNDER it. So activate the bed, drop yourself into the hole, and have the secret area counted.

SECRET #5

There is a secret area underneath the stairs once you find yourself downstairs in the same building.

SECRET #6

After you exit the building where you found Secret 4 and 5, Force Jump up onto the balcony of the opposite building. Simply descend the stairs to the ground floor and register the secret.

SECRET #7

Once downstairs, take note of the funky-looking archway. Do whatever you need to, and then go outside the archway. Turn around and look up the archway, and Force Jump over it to land on top of the roof for some loot.

SECRET #8

When you find your way to the rooftop that looks like the above, make your way to the far end where the arrow is pointing. Now this secret is a little tricky. You have to be practically kissing the wall in order for it to count. So don't just simply grab the loot and go. Make sure to smooch the wall to get it registered.

SECRET #9

Go through the funky-looking door as indicated. Inside you'll find a fan on the ceiling. Now you're supposed to Force Jump up past the slow-moving fan to land on the crossbeam for that little goodie and secret. Unless you're really lucky on your first, prepare to give it a few tries. And yes, saving your game doesn't hurt either.

SECRET #10

See that archway up there? Force Jump up into it and, well, you know the drill.

SECRET #11

Around the corner from Secret 10, you'll see this white archway. Pay attention to the little shelter near it. Jump up onto the flap, and use it as a launching pad coupled with Force Jump to propel you up and onto the top of the archway for the secret.

Level 8: Takara's Stronghold
Level 8: Takara's Stronghold has 4 secrets in total. Two of them involve grates, and one of them you'll come across when you have no possession of your lightsaber. Which also means you'll have to do some backtracking for it later. Don't you just hate that?

SECRET #1

The secret area lies beyond that grate at the end of the pipe. I've over-exaggerated the lighting in the snapshot just to give you an idea, because it can get really dark in there. Regardless, in order to access this first secret, you'll need a lightsaber. And in order to get one also means having to go through your very first seriously nasty piece of work - a Rancor (hey, if Luke can do it, so can you!). Once you've gotten the lightsaber and dispatched the creature, backtrack back down into the pipe and head for the grate.

SECRET #2

Go into the indicated room and walk past the power controls to the end of the room. Open the next door to reveal another room with a conveyor belt. Drop down and look under the conveyor belt for a grate on the floor. Slash the grate with your lightsaber, drop into it and do your thing.

SECRET #3

In this room with the floating vehicle, climb up onto the railing, and make your way to the other end where the arrow indicates. Go into that little nook to get your loot and register the secret.

SECRET #4

Once you have crossed the large room with the electrified water, make your way to the corridor beyond, and enter the first room you come across on the right. You'll find a room with a diagonal beam like in the snapshot. Climb the beam, and blow up the fuel tanks to reveal a hole in the wall. Crawl into it and have your secret counted.

Source: http://www.hubbywifey.com/jkmots/level8.htm
Level 9: New Republic Escort Ship
Level 9: New Republic Escort Ship has 7 secrets, some of which involves strict observance to certain details of importance (that's right Secret 3 and 4, I am looking at both of YOU!). Failure to observe details to the letter can render one or even both of them impossible to register.

SECRET #1

Waltz down the corridor until you reach near the far end, and turn to your left. You will see a switch there. Go ahead and activate it, turn around and go back out into the corridor, turn left and man the turret by the window. You can now fire at will to release some stress. :)

SECRET #2

Sooner or later you will come across a long corridor tube like the above snapshot. Jump onto it and make your way across to the end. See that metal pole supporting the tube? Slash it with your lightsaber. The tube will fall somewhat, allowing you access to the opening on the other side now. Once you set foot past the opening, the whole tube should go crashing down below. To register the secret, simply drop down into the "pit", and quickly jump back out again before you get fried!

SECRET #3

Before you do anything else, SAVE YOUR GAME... NOW!!! See that dark square spot in the wall to the left of the first snapshot? It's a droid storage compartment, and it's usually closed. In order to access it, you have to activate the switch on the right hand side around the corner. Once you do that, quickly run around the corner to that dark opening. An R2 Unit will emerge. Quickly maneuvre around the R2 Unit and get into the recently-vacated compartment to register the secret before the door closes.

Now should the door close on you before you can squeeze into it, simply reload and retry (much easier option!). Or you could also push the resisting R2 Unit against the door, and the door should open again. Or you could also activate the R2 Unit, wait for it to settle down once it's done its thing, and then physically push the R2 Unit to the door (a subservient R2 Unit is much better to push around than a resisting one). Multiple options, your call.

OK, once you have registered the secret, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION here! DO NOT, and I really REALLY mean DO NOT FIRE A SINGLE SHOT! I don't care who's attacking you. Use a lightsaber, your fist, or your Force Powers but don't fire any weapon. Because if you do, you'll spook the R2 Unit which is still required for access to Secret 4. If you find the R2 Unit sliding around helter-skelter, there's no point in going any further. BUT if you have saved your game like I had advised you to earlier, simply reload and try again!

SECRET #4

Now if all goes well, the R2 Unit should be stationary right in front of the original switch around the corner. All you have to do is physically push the R2 Unit to this other droid storage compartment across the other side. Once you have the R2 Unit near the closed storage compartment like the above snapshot, the door will slide open. Again, quickly get in there, loot whatever, and then leave. If you are inside and the door closes on you, there is a button in there to let yourself out just like Secret 3.

And like Secret 3, this secret is equally forgiving if you're slow. If the door closes before you could get in, simply maneuvre the R2 Unit around the opening, and the door should slide open again.

SECRET #5

This blatant "secret" is where the cargo area is. Once the area has been cleared of cargo, make your way to the coloured window, simply BLAST it to smithereens (Railgun works, lasers don't), and Force Jump into it to have the secret counted.

SECRET #6

This grate is partially blocked by two stacked crates. Simply push the stack aside, slash it with your lightsaber, and jump into it.

SECRET #7

Once you have gotten Secret 6 and dropped down the shaft, look up and face the grate you just dropped down from. Power up your Force Jump to the max, and let yourself go. And voila, Secret 7 done.

Level 10: Orbiting Ship Yards
Level 10: Orbiting Ship Yards consists of 4 secrets. This is one of them levels where if you miss a secret, it's practically a point of no return.

SECRET #1

Pretty straightforward this one. After you have dispatched the droid, simply laser shoot the wall, enter the cracked opening and loot away.

SECRET #2

This secret area is located right after you've entered the opposite hatch above from the second air tunnel. Simply jump over the gap to the other side to register the secret.

SECRET #3

After you have made your way to the end of the conveyor belt and hopped off to down below on either side, make your way through the corridor until you come across a cross-beamed ceiling like the snapshot above. Force Jump up to have the secret counted and for some sweet loot. Now pay special attention to the next room around the corner.

SECRET #4

Go too far in and miss this one, you can't return for it. :( Yep, the secret is down that hole, but there's an invisible force field that keeps bouncing you off. See those two red circuits on both sides of the wall? Destroy them, and the field will be disabled. Drop on down and loot away, and you are done with all the secrets on this level. Good job!

Source: http://www.hubbywifey.com/jkmots/level10.htm
Level 11: Kaerobani's Base
Level 11: Kaerobani's Base has only 2 secret areas. The entire place is a hotbed of scum and villainy, some not immediately hostile in the beginning. But as you progress further into the area, you will encounter unavoidable hostility soon enough. Which also means, watch your back! Especially for them Noghris, which can really put a major dent on your health with a single hit.

SECRET #1

There are 3 identical chambers in a row with wind tunnels on this level. The secret hideout you are looking for is located in the SECOND CHAMBER. Now see that wind tunnel on the left? Wait for the blast of wind to die down, then sprint into it, cut the grate, and sprint to the end. There will be a small opening to your left. Quickly go in, grab your loot and have the secret counted.

SECRET #2

Your IR Goggles will be your best friend to locate this secret if it's your first time through. Remember the grate you swam out from? If you swim further up to your left and around the corner, there is also another grate, albeit wider. Cut it open, continue swimming along the tunnel until you can surface, and voila, you have loot galore and another secret registered. :)

Source: http://www.hubbywifey.com/jkmots/level11.htm
Level 12: Dromund Kaas Swamp
Level 12: Dromund Kaas Swamp has 8 secrets, 3/4 of which involves Force Jumping with two of them involving a little creature hell bent on thwarting the use of your ENTIRE Force powers simply by being around. Oh, and also ALL your guns don't work from here onward anymore. Time to get creative with your lightsaber if you haven't already.

SECRET #1

The first secret can be found in the underwater pool at the end of the tunnel ahead. Unfortunately, there's a Dionaga guarding it. Fortunately though, you have two options - you can either fight it and then collect your loot, or you can simply jump in, grab the loot and get out of the water as fast as possible, avoiding a conflict altogether. Your pick.

SECRET #2

Force Jump up onto the platform there, grab the stuff and register the secret.

SECRET #3

The secret is up there on top of the second ledge. Force Jump up onto the first ledge there, and then Force Jump up onto the second ledge. Easy right? What, your Force Jump power isn't working now? Well, you can thank that chirpy Force-negating Ysalamiri creature at your feet for that. I tried to get it out of the way by walking and kneeling. Didn't work well for me. So I decided to threaten it with my fizzling gun, and that little thing actually bought it and jumped off. Now I was free to Force Jump again. :)

SECRET #4

Force Jump up onto that thick branch above, and then make your way to the end of that branch to get the secret counted.

SECRET #5

After your battle with Dark Mara, drop down into the hole that just opened in the complex. Follow the linear pathway and you will eventually end up swimming in another body of water. Cut the vines that's impeding your journey, dispatch the Dionaga in your way, and check out the floor. You should see an opening. Head into the underwater alcove and retrieve the loot.

SECRET #6

Force Jump up onto that hill there and grab the loot around the corner.

SECRET #7

See that rock splitting up the pathway ahead? There is a dark hidden alcove to the left of it against the wall. Simply Force Jump up into the alcove to get at the loot.

SECRET #8

This one is pretty much a repeat of the Secret 3 routine complete with that annoyingly cheerful Force-negating Ysalamiri creature. This time around I only managed to scare it off to the far end of the ledge with my fizzling blaster. It simply wouldn't budge anymore. I finally got fed up with that little pest and decided to swing at it a couple of times with my lightsaber. Well whaddaya know, after what seemed like forever, it finally went belly up (I swear that creature has an invisible shield that needs to be worn down). Anyway, I then Force Jumped up to the next ledge to register the secret.

Level 13: Sith Temple
Level 13: Sith Temple has 5 secrets. Prepare to go through lots of Sith guardians in the form of stone statues to get at those secrets. Also, the keyword on this level is Force Seeing.

SECRET #1

In the open courtyard, enter the first building you see on your left side and head down the stairs. Once at the landing, you should see entrances to two rooms - one to your left, and the other to your right. Go on in to the right one, and head over to the far end. There you should find a little pool of water. Squat and drop down into it, register the secret, and swim around the corner to get a nice piece of loot.

SECRET #2

While underwater in the room with two floating chairs and four panels on the right wall, engage Force Seeing. The second panel should disappear and reveal a hidden alcove instead.

SECRET #3

In the room with three long hallways housing the Vornskrs, focus on the long hallway to your left. You should see a wall adorned with two faces. Engage Force Seeing and a secret chamber beyond the "wall" will be revealed to you.

SECRET #4

This chamber is past the corridor right after the room with the four Sith stone statue guardians. There are two entrances each on both your left and right side. Go to the end, and enter the one on the left side. Engage Force Seeing on the engraved face, click Use on it, go back out and look at the floor right outside the entrance. A small portion of the floor just gave way to reveal a pool of water. Drop down into the pool to have the secret counted, and then do a little swimming to get a sweet piece of loot.

SECRET #5

After swimming through the long tunnel into a large room with an equally large body of water, you should find two Dionagas swimming around. Dispatch them, or not, and look for an underwater grate against the wall near the far end to the left. Cut the grate open, enter it, and eventually let yourself slide down a long tube. Enjoy the descent while it lasts, and your secret will be registered as you are expelled from the tube. :)

Source: http://www.hubbywifey.com/jkmots/level13.htm
Level 14: Sith Temple Catacombs
Level 14: Sith Temple Catacombs consists of 4 secrets, and a lot of nasty Vornskrs around corners. Expect to be using a lot of Force powers here like Force Seeing, Force Jump, and Force Speed to get to the secret areas.

SECRET #1

Near the beginning, once past the double doors, you'll come to a fork in the pathway. Take a right, follow the pathway and then down the flight of steps until you reach a hole. Drop down into it, but DO NOT DROP DOWN further anywhere else. See that parallel ledge opposite you? Yep, you have to get over there for the secret. To achieve that, use Force Speed and run across. Then follow the pathway on your left to the end and Force Jump your way up into the hole to register the secret.

SECRET #2

After you have defeated Dark Kyle the first time around, Force Jump up onto the ledge. Go past the entrance at the ledge, drop down, and go out through the triangular entrance. Now stay there and turn around. Look at the floor you just walked away from. Yep, what you're seeing is NOT a normal landing. It's an elevator platform.

Now engage Force Seeing. Make your way back onto the elevator platform and then back off immediately, causing the platform to rise without you on it. Quickly approach the floor while the platform is still up, and you'll drop down into a corridor. Check out both ends of the corridor for some stuff.

SECRET #3

In the room with the stone sculpture decorated with 3 Force Boosts around it, you will find a pool of water at its base. Engage Force Seeing, drop yourself into the water, dive down and resurface up onto a platform with a stone statue to get the secret counted.

SECRET #4

The last and final secret in this game is accessible via a crack at the bottom far end of the pool. And of course, what is a large body of water without enemies, right? Bid your final farewells to your favourite water creatures in this game - Dionagas! Well, not one but THREE of them!!! And yes, combat IS avoidable if you don't want to waste your time fighting them. Simply get ready Force Speed and IR Goggles, engage both, and dive in while sticking close to the right wall and head straight for the cracked opening.

Secret MotS Level

This is a secret level that allows you to assume the role of Luke Skywalker (with R2-D2 making a cameo appearance). In order to access it, follow the instructions below. This is for the Steam version of the game.

1. In the "Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith" directory, make sure there is an "Episode" folder. If not, create one.

2. Inside the "Episode" folder, create a new folder and name it "MotS Secret Level".

3. Now go back to your "Jedi Knight Mysteries of the Sith" directory. Look for a folder called "Resource". Click on it, and then access another folder within called "VIDEO".

4. Inside the "VIDEO" folder, there should be a zipped file named UNSUPPORTED.zip. Extract the 2 folders contained within - cog and jkl - into the "MotS Secret Level" folder you had created earlier.

5. Now go to the following URL and download the .jk file:

http://web.archive.org/web/20010210175215/http://www.lucasarts.com/products/sith/episode.jk

If you are unable to download it, simply copy and paste the contents you see when at that address into a text file, and then save it as "episode.jk" in the "MotS Secret Level" folder.

6. Now run the game, select "Single Player", then "New Game", and finally click on "Secret MotS Level" from the episode selection list. ENJOY! :)

Thanks for making this guide with matching screenshots, it's a good one! There's still a few of us out there that continue to play this game. I'm glad it still gets some attention. :swbftrooper:
