About Retrowave-the movement was born in the second half of the 2000s, also popular composers at the time were Kavinsky, David Keeley and others. In this genre, synthesizers, electronic drums are used, retrowave producers use modern techniques to create electronic music and usually bring the bass drum and bass part to the fore, which is typical of modern electronic music. It seems that Retrowave is currently making big waves in media culture inspiring a lot of artists and developing after the music genre

🌴𝓢𝔂𝓷𝓽𝓱𝔀𝓪𝓿𝓮🌴

Synthwave and Retrowave are the same thing. They're just different names for the same genre.

Outrun is the general name for the aesthetic, meaning the visual aspect of the genre. It was coined from the arcade game of the same name. Sometimes this is used interchangeably with Synthwave (i.e. if you search for synthwave wallpaper and outrun wallpaper you will get similar results)

🌴𝓥𝓪𝓹𝓸𝓻𝔀𝓪𝓿𝓮🌴

Vaporwave is a closely related genre, but differs in many respects. It is in no way a subgenre. Vaporwave is more of a downtempo beat, chopped and screwed and sampled. While Synthwave is designed to emulate classic 80s themes and has an aesthetic of fast cars, faster women, and Miami sunsets, Vaporwave is totally different. It's more of a sarcastic cynical take on commercialized elements of the 90s. There are samples of jingles, pop culture clips, and the music is designed to evoke a sense of familiarity with that time but in a more nightmarish sense

🌴𝓞𝓾𝓽𝓡𝓾𝓷🌴

Outrun is a particular style/genre of music. Well, more of a subgenre really. It's a very specific type of electro. It relies very heavily on 80's themes and synthesizers. There's a certain vibe to it. Like you're an undercover cop stressed about a case, driving down the boulevard at night surrounded by neon lights and a blood moon looms overhead. There's something very noir about it, but it's not reserved for private investigators
