COD 4 | Multiplayer Mode PLAYING fix 2020

Hello,

today I'm going to create a short guide about how to play multiplayer mode in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare although Punkbuster is not supported for Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare any longer.

Remove Punkbuster

Steps

1. Open the Steam folder (where you have installed it) ;

2. Then open steamapps - common - Call of Duty 4 ;

3. There you will see a folder named '' PB '' ( PB= Punkbuster) ;

4.Delete this Folder (PB) or just move it to another place on your PC, different place from Call of Duty 4 folder ;

5. Join Call of duty 4 Modern Warframe through Steam client (Open Steam Application - Library - Call of duty - Play - Play Multiplayer) ;

6.Join game | Will be shown on your screen a serverbrowser window and then you should refresh the list and doing that, will appear some servers.

To answer Bo's question directly, if using MacOS 10.15 Catalina or newer, COD4 will fail to run, as it is no longer supported due to being a 32-bit game and using the now-stagnant OpenGL support there.

Hello bo,

COD 4 it's still working on Windows but PB is not anymore suported for this version. This is why you should remove it from folder or do what TS2 did ( Thanks ) .

However, this guide also works for COD4 1.8.

A different fix is to replace the PBSetup.exe file in the PB folder with a new one downloaded from http://evenbalance.com/pbsetup.php . This retains the included PB components, but replaces the old PBSetup file that constantly fails its self-update checks with the latest version.
