how to get Mediaplayer or PlayX to work in these trying times
By Pyrous Red
How to get web elements (like video player addons) to work in your game. This includes addons like PlayX and MediaPlayer, and also the Cinema gamemode. If you already know how to do this go away and have a nice day.

Introduction
So if you haven't been using these addons recently or whatever, you might have just noticed that addons using web elements like Mediaplayer, PlayX, Cinema, etc. aren't working in your game. If you're using some other addon that involves web/browser elements this should still work but idk I only really have the media player addons in mind.

Anyway, usually the fix is to switch to the most recent version of the chromium beta. If that doesn't mean anything to you, read the rest of this tutorial to find out what to do.
How To Switch to Chromium
So this exact procedure may change over time, but here's what you've got to do at the time of writing. Future fixes should be similar but we'll get to what might be different for you future folks in a sec. Though hopefully you just won't need to do this anymore eventually.

First, right click on Garry's Mod and select properties in the dropdown menu.

You should be given this menu. Click on the BETAS tab at the top.

Once there, click the dropdown menu and select the most up-to-date chromium branch. In this example I used x86-64, but any branch with chromium in the name should work.

After that you're gonna need to wait for it to change. This may take a long time or no time at all, depending on how much of a virgin you are.

After that, start up Garry's Mod and use your addon of choice. That should be it!

If none of that worked then you are doomed to continue googling this problem until the end of time. Sorry :/

But if it does work, which it should, have fun watching whatever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you're into in GMod!

Bye.
MAC OS X WARNING
Hey guys quick edit. I've found recently that the x86-64 Chromium branch (the current one as of writing) does not always play nice with OS X.

I don't know if this is universal or not but if you're doing this tutorial on Mac, and you start crashing shortly after launch, try switching off of the current beta and onto the regular branch to see if that fixes it.

Sorry for the inconvenience folks.
