Without this scene and the death of Carlos there'd be less weight behind the player's actions as it would just feel like a basic ass turf war whereas Carlos was like a little sibling you looked out for but still had expectations of. Had Gat , Pierce or Shaundi died there'd be less impact as they weren't there from the beginning (Maybe Gat but they "kill him" in 3 just to have him be retconned as living in 4 Despite the existence of zombie Gat so.......)
