Steam Input Setting

Vigil supports Steam Input now, please follow the instruction to setup your controller.

Step by Step

If you are a new player, this setting should be applied automatically. Please do the following ONLY IF you encounter controller issues.

Click the Big Picture Mode icon at the top right.

Go to Controller Settings.

Tick the corresponding configuration support boxes. If you are using a Switch Pro controller, please tick "Use Nintendo Button Layout".

Make sure your controller has connected to Steam. Please don't connect more than one controller, our game will only recognize the controller on the top list.


Go to Vigil> Manage Game> Controller Configuration.

Select "Browse Configs".

Select the Recommended setting base on your controller type and import.


Go to Vigil> Manage Game> Controller Options, make sure you turn on the Steam Input Per-Game Setting.

Please also check the setting here.


Your controller should work now.

If your RT(R2) doesn't work anymore, please reimport the official configs or simply add a soft pull action.

well, it's a shame you have to make a guide for users to fix an issue the devs of the game should fix

It doesn't work well for me neither : the B button on my xbox360 controller doesn't respond.

Anyone else having an issue where the touch pad doesn't work to open t he map? Also, I can't assign actions to the other directions on the D-pad (left, right, or down).

Thank you, this worked. The step I was missing before was changing the recommended configuration to the official one for Vigil.
