Introduction
This guide will focus on the secrets (represented by a Question Mark on the Map) for each of the game's areas. I will talk less about drops and cards; for these, you can track your progress from the Enemies and Cards sections in the Journal. Additionally, I will not list the Crafting Recipes, since you can see which items you haven't crafted yet from the Crafting menu. Just keep in mind you need to get all drops, all cards, and craft all recipes.

The Completion seen on the Main Menu is composed of the following things:
  • World Map completion (52%) - This includes Side Quests, Secrets, and Fish
  • Main Quest completion (20%) - This includes 18 Main Quests, and the True Ending
  • Recipes crafted (8%)
  • Treasure Maps solved (8%)
  • Trophies earned (7%)
  • Pets tamed (5%)

The guide is currently up to date with Stable 1.0. If you do happen to find any mistakes, feel free to leave a comment so I can correct them!

Extremely Important Info

There are 4 Super Fertilizers[secretsofgrindea.wiki.gg] that can be found in the game world, and are used to grow sprouts into climbable vines. In the future, I will just refer to it as fertilizer to be brief.

Similarly, there are 8 Butterflies[secretsofgrindea.wiki.gg] scattered around the world. To catch them, you need the Bug Net given to you by Luigi, the gardener in Evergrind City. He is also the guy who gives you Butterflown, the butterfly catching quest. Keep this in mind when I mention butterflies in the secrets list.

Finally, at the end of this guide you will find some miscellaneous sections which aren't related to completion directly, but you may find useful:
  • Fixing Broken Main Quests - a potential fix for those who have leftover bugged main quests
  • Changelog - a timeline of changes for this guide
Resources that you may find useful
To avoid reinventing the wheel, I will post a few links that can help you with certain aspects of the game. Credits go to the authors of the content:

Secrets of Grindea Wiki's Quest List [secretsofgrindea.wiki.gg]
Here, you should be able to find more details about quests. Some articles have detailed walkthroughs, too; see what you can find.

SoG-Phase-Off AutoHotkey script by jcoffa / Guava[github.com]
This script should allow you to complete the course automatically with a final time of about 14.16 seconds in case it's too difficult for you to do normally. You can see it in action here.

Tannie's Secret Phase Course by Chaldo
A video showcasing a 14.19 second solution for Tannie's Course. Should be useful if you're stuck on the 20 second reward.

Mount Bloom mirror/Phase puzzle by SoyBoyGaming
A video showing how to get all of the chests in the optional phase course in Mt. Bloom. While this is made for an earlier version of the game, it should still hold up for the current version.

Pet Completion
For 100% Completion, you need to tame these enemies with the following items:
  • Green Slime - Juicy Apple
  • Rabby - Golden Carrot
  • Jumpkin - Candy Cane
  • Gift - Luxurious Gift Band
  • Mrs. Bee - Nectar Flower (might be optional)
  • Living Veggie - Fresh Water
... also, you need to get these pets:
  • Chicken - Complete the quest Pet Detective
  • Wisp - Beat Tannie's Secret Phase Course in 90 seconds

Juicy Apple and Golden Carrot are obtained from Oak, who lives in the farm house in Evergrind Fields: West.

The Candy Cane required for Jumpkins must be obtained by talking to Candy in Pumpkin Woods while having a pet with you. Regular Candy Canes obtained from the Toy Factory won't do for luring them!

The Luxurious Gift Band can be obtained from the cave above Muffin's Shop in Seasonne. First, you need to defeat the Living Rune Block in the cave above. Afterwards, move the (now not so) Living Rune Block so that it falls through the hole in the ground, then go in the lower cave. With the help of the dropped Rune Block, you can now solve a puzzle that opens a gate to the Gift Band's chest.

If you have completed the "Mountain Kid" trophy in Arcade Mode, you should also have the Nectar Flower transferred in your Story Mode save, which can be used to tame a Mrs. Bee. Taming a Mrs. Bee is optional for 100%, since the bee will only contribute to the current pets and target total if you've tamed one.

There are also Living Veggies that spawn in Dragonbone Dunes, near the farmhouse, once you've rescued Farmamera from the well and received the Fresh Water from Carotte.

As for the remaining pets, the quest Pet Detective can be started from a caveling in Mt. Bloom, while Tannie's Secret Course becomes available after obtaining the Twi-Sight ability and talking to Tannie's ghost in Pumpkin Woods graveyard.
Treasure Map Completion
There area a total of 16 Treasure Maps that you need to solve. Treasure Maps #001 - #007, and #010 - #015 can be bought from Simon in Evergrind City. #008 is found after inspecting the bottom right gravestone in Pumpkin Woods graveyard, and #009 is obtained from a chest in Marino Mansion's greenhouse. Ugra's Map can be found in the Library.

The solutions for each of the Treasure Maps follow ahead. If you want to solve them by yourself, look away!

  • #001 - Startington - bottom right house

  • #002 - Evergrind Fields West - next to the smashable rock

  • #003 - Evergrind Fields South - next to the Marino Mansion

  • #004 - Pillar Mountains - topmost zone, next to the tent

  • #005 - Pillar Mountains - middle zone, to the right of the bridge

  • #006 - Evergrind City - bottom left in the park

  • #007 - Pumpkin Woods - in the graveyard

  • #008 - Evergrind Fields West - above the farm house

  • #009 - Seasonne - top zone, near the tent by the ice lake

  • #010 - Pumpkin Woods - the final zone where the Flying Fortress used to be

  • #011 - Seasonne - top zone, below the Toy Factory

  • #012 - Mount Bloom - next to the entrance to Tai Ming

  • #013 - Mount Bloom - entrance to poison zone (go right from Teleport Plate, enter tunnel, the enter tunnel to the right again)

  • #014 - Port Monnaie - next to the church

  • #015 - Dragonbone Dunes - leftmost zone, inside the cave by the tents

  • Ugra's Map - Mount Bloom - on the south side of the broken bridge towards Tai Ming

Story Trophies
To get 100% completion, you will need to complete all trophies (i.e. achievements) available in the game. Getting 100% completion will also grant you the "Completionist" trophy.

Below are some tips for the trophies that aren't trivial:

Ultimate Item Hunter

Getting this trophy in particular (300 unique items) requires you to get almost every possible item in Story Mode. This means a copy of every monster drop, every fish, every item sold by merchants (furniture, equipment, etc.), crafted items, etc.

Key Items (the category marked by a key icon in the inventory) do not count towards this achievement, so you can ignore them.

Quick Draw

This trophy requires you to perfect guard ten attacks in a row. The easiest way to do this would be to max out the Quick Reflexes talent in the general tab, go to Evergrind Fields: East, and repeatedly perfect guard the attacks of a Bloomo.

Master Gardener

This trophy requires you to get seeds for all available house plants in the game, purchase pots for them, put them in your home and have them grow to the respective plants.

Most seeds take 60 minutes of in-game time to grow. The exceptions are Shruboss (120 minutes) and Power Flower (150 minutes). Keep in mind that you can grow multiple plants at the same time.

Obtainable seeds - most of them are rare drops from their enemies:
  • Bloomo
  • Jumpkin
  • Halloweed
  • Toxic Tulip
  • Plantae Hostilis
  • Shruboss - guaranteed drop upon killing the boss in Evergrind Fields: West
  • Power Flower - guaranteed drop upon killing the story boss
  • Super Salad - guaranteed drop upon killing the special enemy in the Mansion
  • Cacute
  • Carrot
  • Lettuce
  • Onion
  • Tomato
  • Plant Blade - dug up from Treasure Map 12

This trophy gets checked for whenever you enter the Player Home. It won't trigger automatically as soon as all the plant timers are done, so keep that in mind.

A good idea would be to prioritize getting the Plant Blade first. You can take it from the pot after it has grown, and use the massively increased seed drop chance from its effect to harvest the remaining plant seeds.

As a reminder, you can convert your seeds to pots by going inside the treehouse in Seasonne (close to the guy who's shoveling snow all day) and buying them from the tree shopkeep inside:

It's also possible that you've bought pots before but don't remember which seeds you've used. Since the potted plant descriptions don't really tell you which seed is planted, you'll probably want to put down all of your pots in your player house and let them grow fully. Double check the "Furniture" category in your inventory to make sure you haven't missed one.

Well-Read

This trophy requires you to read all 6 parts of "The Summoning":

  • Vol 1: House near the right exit in Evergrind City
  • Vol 2: Candy's house in Pumpkin Woods
  • Vol 3: The poor family's house in Seasonne
  • Vol 4: Evergrind City Library
  • Vol 5: Dragonbone Dunes Saloon
  • Vol 6: Usable book item obtained by helping Penn Wryte finish the story in Port Monnaie

The Pink Butterfly is found here:

As for the Catalyst of Power, there is a Grindea Statue in Upper Pillar Mountains. You will need to use fertilizer on the sprout to access this area, then go on the right path to the top of the pillar:

If you haven't completed Tai Ming yet (AKA defeated Mimic and got the Crown), Bishop will stand in front of the statue and tell you to come back later. Otherwise, the Statue will open up a portal.

You can enter it right away to challenge Bishop, but he will likely demolish you unless you've already completed Lost Ship and got a decent collection of cards. Once you defeat him, he will give you the Catalyst of Power.

Once you're done, modify the bridge so that it connects to the bottom part, then switch the season to Summer and go get the Ski Goggles chest I mentioned before.

The second one is even easier: whack the Season Orb and melt the ice away:

Finally, after you've beaten Winter, you can go back to the main lobby and hit the (now active) Spring Orb. This will open a path to the right, that leads to the Spring Charm's chest.
Mount Bloom

  • Crystal Clear
  • Steve Gets Fired

Fish list:
  • Rockfish
  • Goldfish
  • Crystal Fish
  • Angler Fish
  • Mossfish

Secrets list:
  • Chest - Red Emitter Matrix
  • Chest - Lightning Glove
  • Chest - Cat Screen
  • Chest - Weird Module
  • Chest - Strange Component
  • Chest - Mysterious Part
  • Chest - Gas Mask
  • Chest - Lab Coat
  • Chest - Magic Mushroom

  • Chest - Kailan's ID (optional if you've already woken up Kailan using the Resequencer!)
  • Catch the Magenta Butterfly
  • Obtained the Staff of Slimes from the Slime Statue
  • Obtain the Catalyst of Awakening

Details:
The easy parts first: the Magenta Butterfly is located near the entrance of Mt. Bloom:

The remaining secrets are all related to phasing, so buckle your pants. I suggest you use the walkthrough videos at the beginning of this guide to orient yourself!

There are two phase courses in Mt. Bloom. The main course is located to the right of the teleport plate, through the cave which used to be blocked off by Steve. The bonus one is located to the left of the Mt. Bloom's entrance. The path leading to it also has a lot of Shroomies hanging around.

To the left of the main course you can find a tunnel filled with large crystals and poison gas. You will need Steve's Pickaxe to be able to survive until the end of the tunnel; having the Gas Mask is also preferable. At the end of the tunnel, you will find a chest holding the Huge Mushroom Cap.

The first three chests on the secrets list can be found while traversing the main phase course. The remaining seven are located in the bonus phase course:
  • The left path's lower chest contains the Gas Mask, and the upper chest has the Mysterious Part
  • The right path's lower chest contains the Strange Component, and the upper chest has the Lab Coat
  • The spark rails's first part has the Magic Mushroom, and the last part has the Weird Module.
  • The entrance towards spark rails has Kailan's ID in the chest nearby. This chest gets automatically opened and the item is automatically granted to you if you've woken up Kailan using the Phase Resequencer instead, so it is somewhat optional.

The Catalyst of Awakening can be obtained from a cave to the right of the Caveling camp, once you have collected all Cards in the game. Just enter the cave, watch the cutscene, and collect your item!

Finally, there's a Slime Statue accessible through a path south from the zone with miners. To activate it, you'll need to insert 50 of each goo type in the slots. This will cause the Staff of Slimes to appear, which you can then pick up.
Tai Ming

  • Give the Mana Shawl to the dog ghost in exchange for Fond Memories

Details:

With the exception of Purple Kimono, you will lose the ability to get the chest items after the time rifts close, but you can purchase them from Archie instead. Each of the missed items will cost an increasing gold sum to purchase, so prepare your wallet!

Shiidu is located in the Inner Shrine. You likely met it as you completed the main quest!
You can break Shiidu's glass by having Monkeys throw objects in its direction. The glass will shatter after enough hits have been scored.

After defeating Mimic, you can push the (likely not so) Living Rune Block into the rune slot to the right of the room. Doing so will drop the Angel's Thirst from the painting.

After obtaining the Aged Rum from a chest in Lost Ship, you can give it to Bran Di's Tai Ming ghost. He will drop the Empty Bottle in return, which can be picked up.

Mana's Shawl can be obtained from the building surrounded by water in the second zone. If you forgot to assemble the bridge to her house during story, you can instead buy the item from Archie. After obtaining that item, you should go to the Tai Ming graveyard, activate Twi-Sight and give the ghost dog the shawl in exchange for the Fond Memories housing item.

The Skull Ring can be obtained in the looping part of the phase course. Starting from the bottom right, loop twice through the mirrors before launching for the chest.

Finally, there is a twilight door made out of teeth in the F3 room where Pine's ghost is (it also has a console). It closes if you look at it. To go through, you can shield downwards, then enter the door while strafing. Once inside, interact with the moving blue object on the table.
Fixing Broken Main Quests
This section is intended only for those people who have issues with main quests not completing properly! Please don't use these commands unless you're 100% sure there's no other solution, as improper use might break your save.

Some people with really old saves might find out that they can't 100% the game. This could be due to some bugged out main quests that have remained in the quest log despite being completed (and having advanced further into story from the game's point of view).

If you find yourself in such a scenario, you can use this chat command to forcefully complete them:

/movetocompleted _MainQuest_TimeTemple_MainArc

"Ascent Into Madness" is supposed to complete only after you've obtained the True Ending and reloaded the save. Please don't forcefully complete it unless it doesn't unlock for you normally: _MainQuest_EndGame_AscentIntoMadness.
Fixing Missing Potted Plants
In some cases it might be possible that you're missing the special plant seeds required to complete the Master Gardener achievement. While there's a failsafe to grant the seeds on save load, it doesn't seem to trigger for some people. You can circumvent this issue by giving yourself the potted plants using the following commands:

/item _Furniture_BigStuff_UnGrownPlant_PowerFlower /item _Furniture_BigStuff_UnGrownPlant_MotherPlant /item _Furniture_SmallStuff_UnGrownPlant_SuperSalad /item _Furniture_SmallStuff_UnGrownPlant_OneHandWeaponPlant
Steam Achievements (excluding Trophies)
At the time of writing there are 69 achievements you can get for Steam. 53 of them coincide with in-game trophies, while 16 are only represented on Steam.

This section will talk about Steam exclusive stuff and add some notes to some of them.

Story Achievements exclusive to Steam:
Name
Description
Notes
Trick Phaser
Beat Tannie's Personal Phase Shift Course!
This is the same as the "Phase-Off" quest you can get from Tannie after Ghost Ship.
Speedrunner
[Single Player] Get to the credits from start to finish in less than 3 hours and 30 minutes (in-game time)!
The in-game time is also represented on your save file. Any ending will do, which means you don't need to do any optional stuff if it doesn't help you. It should also be safe to save and quit, and pick up the attempt at a later time if you need to.
Challenge Accepted
Play game on Expert Mode from start to finish
You must start the save file on Expert Mode and must complete the game via the True Ending route. Switching to a lower difficulty will void the challenge, although it may be possible to undo accidental switches by terminating the game process via Task Manager.
Face the Apocalypse (Secret)
Defeat Zhamla and watch the True Ending!
You can still get this ending after the Normal Ending.
The End?
Finish the game and watch the credits roll!
This is awarded for obtaining the Normal Ending. I would advise you to get this one before the True Ending, since doing the True Ending locks your save in a post-game state.
Sightseeing (Secret)
Bring Mesido along your adventure all the way from the Evergrind Festival to the True Ending!
You need to start the "Faerly Brave" side quest from Temple of Seasons, find Mesido, then avoid returning him to the village until the very end of the game. You also need to get Mesido before starting the Festival event in Evergrind City (otherwise you void the challenge), and you need to complete the game via the True Ending route with him in tow.
Sit Down! (Secret)
Make Marino fall down by using Perfect Guards!
You get this achievement by stunning Marino. He either gets stunned if you Perfect Guard all four stabs from his rapier flurry, or when you Perfect Guard his taunt counter strike during the Desert fight. Technically you can also complete this achievement in Arcade, however the Dojo version of Marino doesn't count.
Bug Catcher (Secret)
Defeat Summer and Autumn by using the Bug Net. How rude!
Summer and Autumn get killed instantly if you attack them with the Bug Net weapon that you obtain from Luigi in Evergrind City.
Shiidu Unleashed (Secret)
Convince Shiidu to protect humanity, and use him in the Final Battle!
You need to get Shiidu from Tai Ming, talk to Mundi's ghost in Tai Ming with Shiidu equipped after completing Ghost Ship (important, otherwise Shiidu will still refuse to work), trigger the True Ending fight, then shield with Shiidu equipped during it. The True Ending fight with the prerequisites completed is also the only time you can use Shiidu during the entire game.
Bishop's Boon (Secret)
Defeat Bishop and get the Catalyst of Power!
Bishop is located in Pillar Mountains, at the top of the pillar that can be accessed via one of the four fertilizer sprouts. The earliest you can fight him is after completing Tai Ming.
Ghost Collector (Secret)
Help Mixe gather all the ghost and get the Catalyst of Mortality!
You get this after completing "The Spectral Party" quest.
Full Album (Secret)
Collect all the cards and unlock the Catalyst of Awakening!
After getting all 41 monster cards, go in Mt Bloom and enter the cave to the right from the Caveling camp's location.

Arcade Achievements exclusive to Steam:
Name
Description
Notes
Casual Climb
Unlock the first catalyst in Arcade Mode!
This requires you to beat Arcade with a score multiplier of at least 100%.
Uphill Battle
Unlock the second catalyst in Arcade Mode!
This requires you to beat Arcade with one catalyst equipped, with a score multiplier of at least 100%.
Arduous Ascent
Unlock the third catalyst in Arcade Mode!
This requires you to beat Arcade with two catalysts equipped, with a score multiplier of at least 100%.
The Beginning (Secret)
Meet the Goddess and prove your worth.
This requires you to complete an Arcade Run with three Catalysts, with a score multiplier of at least 100%. At the end of the run, you'll have to face and beat Grindea in a three-phase boss fight. Good luck, you'll need it.

A good guide, with lots of useful information.

P.S.
Farming the Skeleton sword took me so long, that after selling half of the drops I got half a million on my hands.

@Ryooku Maracus and Bokus can be found in the Collector's HQ by entering the room to the right as you walk up the stairs, I've added a note about it in the section you mentioned.
Ryooku 19 okt, 2024 @ 0:47
What is Maracus' Extraordinary Transmutation Service and the book shield all about? I can't find anything on... any of that under the Evergrind City secrets.
what? 6 aug, 2024 @ 2:14
@Marioalexsan, yes, it indeed was the case, some of the drops in the bestiary were not discovered. It's strange that some of these items take longer time to farm than the mob cards. Perhaps a note of that in the guide might be of value for future readers.
Marioalexsan  [skapare] 5 aug, 2024 @ 18:04
@what? That is supposed to be the number of enemy drops you've discovered in the region, check in the journal which drops are greyed out from which enemies.
what? 5 aug, 2024 @ 14:35
I cannot complete "food" requirement. For example on "Temple of Seasons" it shows 11/17 foods in map information and I have NO idea what that number supposed to mean or how to increase it. Killing mobs does not work. Any advice/ideas?

@Guava seems good to me, I'll add it at the start alongside the other external links.
@morpheusblack I don't know much about leveling pets, but people from the Discord usually just AFK grind with summons in Pillar Mountains or some other low level area, then come back every hour or so to sell the drops and buy pet food in bulk from Oak. You can just put a paper weight on a directional button and get yourself stuck in some corner while the summons deal with the weak enemies.
Guava 31 jul, 2024 @ 7:36
I couldn't complete Tannie's Secret Phase Off course (mostly for accessibility reasons, but also partly for skill issue reasons), so I made an AutoHotkey2 script to do it [github.com]. Not sure if this would be relevant to add to the guide for people who are physically incapable of completing the course after giving it some hours of good, honest attempts? I understand if you think something like this is not a good fit to be included though, but figured I'd mention it just in case.

Would you happen to have a recommendation for an efficient way to level pets by chance?
