How do I host a Magicte game?
Introduction
To be able to play Magicte with others, there needs to be a connection between the player that hosts and the other players.
Creating that connection isn't always easy, because a lot of new technology has firewalls or blocks set in place to prevent people from connecting to your PC. Most of the time, simply pressing host and giving someone your IP will not work because of this.

Firewall
If you want to be able to host Magicite, the first thing you have to do is make sure your firewall isn't blocking the game. Most firewalls will ask you if you want to give the game permission the first time you run/host. If this doesn't happen, but you think your firewall might be blocking it, check your firewall settings and add an exception for either the game .exe file or port 7777
If you don't know how to do this, google "NAME OF FIREWALL port exception support"

Network options
Hamachi
Hamachi is free software that helps create a virtual network, this way two people using the software can connect to each other without having to set up a direct connection. It's easy to use and quick to set up.
Pro's: Easy to setup
Con's: (Sometimes) slower, requires software on both ends of the connection

Port Forwarding
Port Forwarding is configuring your router (the device that creates your wifi/local network) to allow data on a certain port to go to directly to your PC. This way you can set up a direct connecting without any additional software
Pro's: Direct connect, no software required
Con's: Difficult to setup in some cases, requires router access

If you're not very experienced with routers and just want to play with some friends, I highly recommend you pick the Hamachi option, because port forwarding might cause a headache.

Hamachi
If you're going to use Hamachi to host, please keep in mind that the people you're playing with will also need to install this software, and they need to be in the same network group as you are.
You can download Hamachi here[secure.logmein.com].
Install the software and press the connect button. If your firewall asks for access, grant it.
Once it's installed you can create a new network. You'll want to remember the name and the password because your friends will have to connect to the same network.
Once you're all in te network you can simply press Host in Magicte. Your friends will have to join using your Hamachi IP, this is the IP that shows up in the Hamachi client.

Port Forwarding
To be able to do this, you'll need to know your router login credentials and IP.
The first thing we're going to do is find out the local IP of the computer we're using.

PC
Open CMD.exe/Command Prompt and type: ipconfig
We'll need to find the IPv4 Adress
C:\Users\Venconix>ipconfig Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe81::d3b:fa78:2432:72ff%12 IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.101 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 11: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Mac & Linux
Open Terminal and run the command: ifconfig
We'll need to find the inet of the right adapter
venconix@linux:~$ ifconfig lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:65536 Metric:1 RX packets:1707406 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:1707406 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:220596409 (220.5 MB) TX bytes:220596409 (220.5 MB) p4p1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 70:67:bo:14:a1:d7 inet addr:192.168.0.101 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::7131:bcff:fd13:a3d5/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:226644300 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:292464314 errors:0 dropped:0 overr

NOTE: Your local IP is NEVER 127.0.0.1, if you think it is, continue searching.

Now we're going to configure the router to open port 7777 (or any other port) to our IP.
First, type the router IP, in my case 192.168.0.1, in your browser so you get http://192.168.0.1
There are a lot of different routers but almost every router will ask for your username and password now, fill those in. If you don't know what they are, check the router manual for the default password or ask the person that installed the router for this information. If you can't find it, go with the Hamachi path.

After you've logged in, you'll need to find the Port forwarding page. If you're having trouble finding the port forwading page in your router settings, you can use http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/ to find instructions for your exact router model.

Once you've found the page, we're going to create a new entry.
Port: 7777 (you can change this if you want but 7777 is the default Magicite port)
IP: your local IP that we looked up
Protocol: All or TPC + UDP
The external/service port and internal port should be the same.
After you've saved the entry, all connection on that port will go to that local IP address.
If your local IP address changes, this happens sometimes, you'll need to update the entry as well.

After you're done port forwarding, start the game and press Host. People can join you using your public IP, to find out what your public IP is, visit http://www.whatismyip.com/

Support
If you're trying to port forward, but it's not working out for you, try to use google for support. You can find tons of topics for each router model only, all you have to do is search. If you're still not able to make it work, try Hamachi.
If you're having trouble with Hamachi, try to google your problem as well, if you can't find a solution only feel free to ask for support in this guide.

you can manually switch your IP to a static one from a dynamic (changing) one via going to adapter settings and changing it from there, google "how to make my IP static" if you want more information. That should save some time changing the IP everytime your dynamic IP expires.
