How to install mods for GTA: San Andreas

GTA: SA is a good and nostalgic game. Sadly after you beat it, the game starts to get boring. Luckily, you know that there's a GTA: SA modding community that has created the most bizzare and hilarious mods. Here's how to install them.

Downgrading the game

People have seem to struggle modding on the steam version as the mods don't really work on it. That's because modding add-ons require the game to be downgraded to Version 1. To downgrade the game, you need to have a downgrader. There's tons of them out there, but i find This one[gtaforums.com] to be the easiest downgrader. Open it with your .RAR file opener.

Follow the instructions shown on the web page. The instructions will tell you to install silentpatch[gtaforums.com], which will be needed, as there is some glitches in Version 1. It will require an ASI loader to use, I recommend using Silent's ASI loader[www.gtagarage.com].

Place all of that into your GTA:SA directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto San Andreas) and run install.bat and wait for the window to disappear. Congrats, you've downgraded GTA:SA :)

Modding

Once you've downgraded GTA SA, you'll need CLEO[cleo.li] before you can do any modding, as there are some mods that require CLEO.

And you'll also want IMGtool[www.gtagarage.com] to replace some models if the mod has a model in it.
You can also use Crazy IMG[www.gtainside.com]
MAKE SURE TO BACK UP THE FILES WHEN YOU'RE REPLACING A MODEL!

Once you've installed a mod you like, follow what it says in its readme text file. It will tell you how to install the mod. most mods just require you to put the contents into your GTA: SA Directory.

BAM! You just installed mods!
