Entertainer Achievement: How to Survive the Wolf's Ambush

This is a short, sharp, shock of a guide on how to school the smarty-pants Wolf, who thinks he needs to teach your player character a lesson for not doing his bidding. This guide covers the Musician's Path Entertainer Achievement, one of the rarest, if not one of hardest achievements in the game.

Da Set-Up

Entertainer - Kill the Wolfman in chapter 2.

Requirements: Ignore Wolf's key request, follow the Musician's Path, and do not kill the Wolf in Chapter One.

In Tha Swamp

So you find yourself in the swamp, and Mr Wolf has raided your precious box and left a note?

No problem, after many tries and much frustration, I figured out a way to fix his clock for good.

Load Em Up and Head On Out....

This is what you need to do to school that Wolf.

Get all your gear that you need to fix Captain Doggo. For me, this meant having an AK with a few clips, and a pump shotgun with extra shells. This was definitely overkill, but what the heck.

AK Sidebar:
If you have trouble finding an AK yet and don't have one, then here is a tip on where to find one: go to the helicopter crash site with the FULL air tank you got from Granny, and dive into the hole in the water near the crash site indicated on the map. That will take you to the helicopter crash itself, which has an AK on a body outside the helo. (And I think one clip.)

Or if that is a no-go for whatever reason, then a cheater way to get free guns is to look in the save file for the codes to the 2 boxes in the wolf camp of Silent Forest, but that is clearly 100% cheating, plus it is prior to the Swamp biome, so if you are already at the Swamp, then too late for this playthrough. At any rate, in the save file it will list the chest codes to the 2 boxes, which have all kinds of guns and ammo to loot, with stupid Wolf none the wiser. (Additionally, the save file will further list ANY chest code you have encountered so far as well.) You can use Notepad++ to easily view the save file. You can also back up every save in a separate folder, and if you get a result you don't like, i.e. you die, then alt-tab out, restore your previous save and restart the game, and viola, no death.

Now that you are skilled and/or info'd up, go to the Lumber Mill with a good gun and ammo, and start the Wolf encounter, in which he tells you to put your gear with his "assistant."
See, the Wolf is an idiot, because if you throw your gear on the ground of the fight room instead, and give the dummy just worthless stuff, then he won't notice.

Yes, that's right! Throw it on the ground!

Can You Taste The Waste?

After you drop your gun and ammo on the floor, and give the dummy outside the room some random junk, then go back in, run around the room, and the scene should start. After it starts and the door locks, pick up your preferred weapons, take out both big doggos, and wait around a corner for the Wolf to appear.


Now, do be careful, because he has an AK and he knows how to use it. It is best to wait behind a pillar and let him burn through his clip before you kill him. (If you wait for him to empty the AK, he will throw it down and start impersonating Tigger as he jumps all over trying to melee kill you. You can collect his empty AK after you kill him, but you have to make sure he empties the clip and throws it down or it stays on him and disappears from his inventory.)

I think I snagged him with 3 or 4 shotgun shots from my pump shotgun, then I took my ax and chopped him up as he lay on the ground cursing me. He will curse you to the end and call you a wimp, it is just how he is. Cheeki Breeki, eh?

Epilogue

So this is my short guide on how to school the Wolf and get the Wolf Achievement.

( I love this game, and think it is a masterpiece in my Top 10 Ever, but I HATE how many dream sequences or forced battles like this take away your gear and leave you with a shoddy table leg to fight. I figured it needed equalizing, since the Wolf is a jerk.)

The hunting rifle will knock him down with one shot. Let him fire his ak and peek out with the hunting rifle.

Glad it helped you. The victory definitely tastes best when you savor it by using the weapons that you stole from him biomes ago. That is what he gets for raiding your camp and leaving boot marks everywhere, lol.

@BadMedium: That is a weird anecdote, friendo, but I would believe it. I do recall having to finish him off while he lay on the ground, cussing me with his last breath.

Edit to my last comment:
I reloaded an earlier save and went back up there. There he lay, dead on the ground, inventory empty, but I picked up the table leg and whacked his body with it once, he spoke saying "You hit like a woman" and then I hit him again, table leg broke, and the achievement popped.
